I'll write this in a non bias way so you are unable to tell who is writing it. It is only facts below.

There is a husband a wife. I will not tell you which one I am. The wife does the washing of the clothes in our household. The husband takes off his pants and throws them in the corner of the room where we pile up clothes for washing (we both agree this is okat, so no comment needed on this point). If it is late at night, husband takes off his pants and puts them in the pile and jumps in bed. Husband says he will grab wallet in the morning before work. Wife wakes up beforw husband to put on a load of washing. Wife does not check pockets and washes the wallet. This has happened 3 times in the last 3 months. Wife doing washing is not in debate either. We both have regular fair jobs around the house and it works for us. The only question is, who is to blame for the wallet going through the wash 3 times? Husband, wife, or a little bit of both?

AITA for Cancelling My Wedding After Finding Out My Fiancé’s Ex Is Invited by His Family?

I (27 f) and my fiancé, Alex (30 m), have been engaged for a year and were planning our wedding for the end of the summer. Everything was going smoothly until a couple weeks ago when Alex’s family dropped a bombshell.

Alex’s family is very close-knit and has always been involved in our wedding planning. Recently, I have found out that they have invited Alex’s ex, Sarah (29 f) to the wedding. Alex and Sarah were dating for about 5 years and broke up about 2 years ago. They’re still on good terms, but I was never comfortable with the idea of her being at our wedding.

When I brought this up to Alex, he said that it’s a family tradition to invite former partners of they’re still friends, and that it would be rude to exclude her. He insisted that it’s no big deal and that Sarah is just a part of their extended social circle. I tried to explain that having Sarah at her wedding made me feel uncomfortable and undermined the significance of the event for me.

Alex’s response was that I was being unreasonable and selfish for not considering his family’s feelings. He argued that it would cause unnecessary drama if we uninvited Sarah now and that we should just focus on enjoying the day. I couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t just about inviting an ex but also about my place in Alex’s life and whether I was truly a priority.

After a lot of back-and-forth, I decided that I couldn’t go through with the wedding under these circumstances. I cancelled the venue and all the plans we had made, explaining to Alex and his family that I couldn’t commit to marrying someone who wasn’t willing to respect my feelings about such a significant issue.

Now, Alex and his family are furious with me. They believe I am overreacting and that I should have been more accommodating. Some of my friends and family think I did the right thing, while others feel I might have acted too impulsively.

So AITA for cancelling my wedding after finding out that my fiancés ex was invited by his family?

Edit: Wow guys, I never expected this post to blow up the way it did. I’m trying to respond to as many comments as I can but thank you all for the unwavering love and support ❤️

Why do we accept such low salaries in the UK?

Edit: The US point is just an example. I’m curious why UK salaries are so low. Even highly qualified people doing highly skilled jobs are unable to buy homes, have children etc.

I recently worked for a company that had sites in the UK and the US. The job profiles, titles, responsibilities etc. were universal. In the US, employees were paid three times more to do exactly the same jobs. It wasn’t to cover e.g. health insurance, either, because that was included in the compensation package.

The result was an enormous difference in the quality of life experienced by employees in the different countries. If you look around, this is common to most companies - and it’s not just UK vs US. UK salaries are just outrageously low.

Why do we accept it? Surely not because people actually believe the Orwellian nonsense from Andrew Bailey that earning more money would actually be bad for us? Given that there’s enough money to go around, why aren’t we kicking up more of a fuss?
