AITA for telling my wife that she can't stay at home?

My (29m) wife (27f) and I share a 2-year old child. She does more housework than me, but I help out when I can. I work more hours.

She makes around 70k USD a year. Ever since our child was born, she has been wanting to become a SAHM.

I don't want her to be a stay-at-home mom. I don't think its worth losing 70k a year in income. If we had 5 children, or if we were planning on homeschooling, maybe I would see the value. But neither is the case.

She told me that its her choice whether she wants to stay at home or not and that she was just informing me that she's considering it. I thought this was a very rude thing to say. Legally, she's right and it is her choice. But I told her if she chooses to disregard my opinion on the matter and quit, she'll be right back to applying for jobs very soon. AITA?

AITAH for refusing to give birth without epidural?

I (24F) found out this week that I am pregnant. Me and my husband have only been married for 3 months, so this pregnancy was unplanned and I’m still trying to process it, however I am willing to go through with it and we’re both happy with the news. My MIL has been pressuring me as soon as I got married to have kids since her other son and DIL have suffered with miscarriages for the past 4 years so shes really persistent on wanting grandkids.

Soon as I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I told my in laws about the news in hopes that they’ll help us out with doctors and things of that nature since we’re unprepared. Some friends and family came over last night because they heard about the news and were very excited for me and my husband. My husband’s cousin is also currently pregnant, so her and I were talking a lot about everything going on for us. She was saying I need to get good health insurance before I give birth in order to cover delivery, potential C-Section, aftercare etc, she was educating me a lot and also told me that epidural costs too etc. My MIL heard her mention epidural and went on to say “well we won’t be needing any of that anyway”. I asked her what she meant and she says “The epidural is unnecessary and makes things way too easy, women should have their babies the way nature intended”. I was in shock and so was everyone else in our living room. I naturally have a fear of child birth after the horror stories I’ve heard, so no epidural is out of the question for me. I told her I outright refuse to have this child without epidural and that’s not her decision to make. She became super offended and once our guests left, she told me I embarrassed her in front of them by “talking back to her” and told my husband he needs to “straighten me out”. My husband told her it’s ridiculous to expect me to have a child with no pain relief and she responded with “Well, I guess a baby is having your baby”. It’s been 3 days and she refuses to speak to my husband or me. My husband is now telling me that in order to keep the peace and move along to just apologize to her and possibly reconsider the epidural. I told him I have nothing to apologize for since I didn’t say anything wrong, and I will not be reconsidering my decision. He thinks I’m holding a grudge and being disrespectful because his mother “only wants what’s best for the baby”.

Someone please tell me AITAH

AITA for Calling the Police and Exposing My Neighbor on Social Media for Poisoning My Dog?

Hey everyone, I need some perspective on this. It's a long story, so bear with me.

I (F24) live in a quiet neighborhood with my 5-year-old golden retriever, Max. Max is more than just a pet; he's family. He's well-behaved, never aggressive, and loved by almost everyone around. Almost.

My next-door neighbor, let's call him Bob (M50s), has always been a bit off. He's known for his temper and odd behavior, but he mostly keeps to himself. We've never really had any direct conflicts until recently.

A few weeks ago, Max started getting sick. He was lethargic, vomiting, and refused to eat. I took him to the vet, and after some tests, it was confirmed that he had been poisoned. I was devastated. I couldn't understand who would do such a thing to an innocent dog.

Then, a neighbor (let's call her Jane) approached me. Jane told me she saw Bob throwing something over my fence into my yard around the time Max got sick. She didn't think much of it at the time but felt guilty for not saying anything sooner.

With this information, I decided to install a security camera in my backyard, hoping to catch Bob in the act if he tried anything again. To my horror, a few days later, I reviewed the footage and saw Bob tossing what looked like food over my fence. I immediately called the police and handed over the evidence.

Bob was arrested, but the story doesn't end there. I was furious and heartbroken. I couldn't just let this slide. I posted the footage on social media, exposing Bob for the animal killer he is. The post went viral in our local community, and the backlash was intense. People were outraged, and Bob's reputation was destroyed. He faced public shaming and even lost his job.

Now, Bob's family is saying I went too far. They argue that calling the police was one thing, but publicly humiliating him was excessive and cruel. They claim that Bob has been dealing with severe mental health issues, which I wasn't aware of.

Part of me feels justified. Max could have died, and Bob needed to be held accountable. But another part of me wonders if I took it too far by posting it online.

So, AITA for calling the police and exposing my neighbor on social media for poisoning my dog?

AITA for kicking my (26m) sister (29f) and her children out over a toothbrush?

This is a throwaway account. For some background that may mportant to the story, I am a 26 year old man, and I live alone. When I was 5 years old, I was diagnosed with ‘high functioning’ autism.

Because of my autism, I have a special interest in the children’s show PAW Patrol. It is a huge aspect of my life and personality, and I find myself often collecting merchandise from the show. One of my spare bedrooms is decorated completely PAW patrol based, and the walls are covered in shelves where I display my figures/plushies.

Onto the story now, my older sister (29f) asked to stay with me for a week or two with her two kids (11 and 9 m) because I have an empty room, and her and her husband had been having really bad arguments nonstop and she needed to take a break and make sure it wouldn’t affect her children’s emotional health.

Early Wednesday morning, they came to my place and I settled them into the guest room (different from the room I keep my merchandise.) and had to go to work at about 7:00 A.M. I told my sister to just relax for a while and to make herself at home, with my only stipulations being she and her boys keep away from my merchandise room and my bedroom.

I came home from work later on to the children asleep on my couch and my sister having a shower. Once I had went into my merchandise room to check up on it, it was a mess. Figures were on the ground, and lots of my stuffed animals were moved from where they go on their shelves. Nothing was damaged aside from a PAW Patrol toothbrush that I kept sealed and on display, it was opened and on the floor.

I got really upset at my sister and sort of wanted to cry, (Autism affects my emotional regulation, especially when a situation is related to my special interest.) and I started to ask my sister to replace the toothbrush since her children went in the room I asked them all not to go in. I didn’t raise my voice, but I was very upset and angry.

She refused and told me I’m a d**ck for asking her to replace something I left out in the open, and we just kept arguing. Eventually, I was close to having a meltdown because my PAW Patrol items are really important to me, and I felt ignored and belittled. I asked her and her children to leave my house, and offered to get her a hotel room for a while because I was struggling to calm down. I may be an AH for acting this way. She screamed at me and called me dramatic and childish before slamming the door and leaving. I know the toothbrush wasn’t that expensive, but I found myself feeling really upset because the boundary I set was broken and my favorite room was left a mess. AITA for making her leave?

AITA for not buying my wife a plane ticket so she is missing the family vacation

My wife is horrible with money, at the beginning of our marriage we pulled out money together and she would use all of it. Her job is pays shit compared to mine. So when we combined the money she went crazy. I had many conversations with her over it and even tried to get her to take a money finical class.

Overtime it got worse and worse. About a year ago I learned she was in bad credit card debt. I gave her he chose of divorce or we separate our money and she needs to fix her debt ASAP.

To her credit she took it seriously and she is fixing her credit card debt. We have separate money and I pay for the bills while her only worry is to buy groceries.

My family has a big vacation coming up and everyone is invited. The trip is to Europe and plane tickets are going to cost 1000+. My parents are going to pay for the resort so the only think needs to be paid is the plane ticket and fun money for the trip.

I plan on going. She informed me that she will not be able to afford the ticket. I point out the trip is in about four month so she should be able to save up. She informed me that she needs to use it for her credit card debt in order to get I paid off. I told her ok and I’ll inform the my family side that she can’t make it.

This started an argument that I am not willing to pay for her ticket and me going on vacation without her. I told her this is her own fault and if she was responsible with money we would be here

So AITA

ELI5: Why is it so impossible to get accepted into medical school when there is such an insane shortage of family doctors?

For context, I live in Canada. This may be a question specific to Canada/US.

Getting accepted into medical school in Canada with “just” a bachelors degree and a decent MCAT score is near impossible. I know many people who have pursued graduate training (e.g., MSc epidemiology, MPH, MHA) in hopes of of improving their chances of being accepted to medical school but sometimes that is STILL not enough.

Meanwhile, a huge proportion of the Canadian population is without a family doctor. Endless waitlists and overcrowding of walk-in clinics and ERs.

I understand that medical schools can only accept as many students as they have faculty/facilities to provide adequate training, but I am just not understanding how it’s this difficult when there is such a need for MDs.

AITAH for getting a vasectomy against my wife's wishes?

My wife (31f) and I (36m) have 2 kids together. I am adamantly done and do not want more while she wants another and this has been a constant fight in our relationship since the second was born. I did originally agree to have 3 kids before we got married but have sense change my mind for the following reasons.

First, being kid less you don't truly understand how expensive they are. With two we are now sitting financially comfortable. Adding a third would put us into struggling and that is not a place I want to be. The second reason is the second birth had complications and our second child, while it ended up being minor, had complications immediately after birth and it terrified me. It isn't a place I wish to be again and don't wish on anyone.

We have been arguing about this for the past two years and I have remained firm about no. I have even stated if you want another then divorce may be our only option. A while ago I scheduled a vasectomy and told my wife which start a whole new wave of arguments. My wife said if I did it she wouldn't be here when I got back. Well, this morning my buddy drove me to my appointment and drove me back and she held true to what she said. I am sitting here on a bag of peas getting texts from my in laws about how bad of a husband I am.

Am i really the AH though when I have been adamant that I am done?

AITA for telling a large girl we don’t fit in the passenger seat

For context, I’m Filipino and male 21 from the motherland. Here we have Jeepneys we use for our daily commute.

At this specific event, Im seated in front, to the right of the driver. The front fits 3 people including the driver, while the back fits 16, 8 each side.

15 minutes into the trip a large girl (approx in her 30s) gestured to the driver to stop, indicating that she would board the jeepney.

Now I’m no big dude, I’m 70Kg at most and 5’10. When she sat next to me. Literally, my right ass cheek is barely sitting on the hard ass seat while my left ass cheek is dangling on nothing. To add insult to injury, my balls is resting on the seatbelt buckle

She then had the audacity to tell me to move further so she can sit in a commanding way

That paired with the nonstop 2nd hand smoke coming from the drivers cigarette and the 9 hour internship I just did made me reply to her with

“Wala na akong maupuan, Hindi tayo kasya dito”

Which translates to

“I have nowhere else to move/sit, we dont fit here”

She then began crying and calling me fatphobic

As for my tone, try to imagine if you were tired, in pain, uncomfortable, hot, and keeps on coughing then an entitled woman commands me to move (Im definitely mad)

AITAH for considering divorce because my wife had a one night stand when we were separated for 7 months?

My wife (32F) and I (34M) have been married for 8 years. We have no children.

To provide some more background, my sister had finalized her divorce proceedings last year, her ex husband had berated her and blamed her a lot because she had 3 miscarriages, it was the darkest moment in her life. She quit her job, and when she called me and broke down in tears, she asked if I could stay over at her place for a few days. I did, and she asked if I could stay over at her place for a few months.

This was a big decision, so I told my sister I would go back home, discuss with my wife, and then let her know. I went back home and told my wife everything, and asked if I could stay over at my sister’s place for a few months. We discussed this over the next few days, and my wife and I decided that I could, and I thanked my wife a lot. I do work remote, and that worked in my favor.

I stayed over at my sister’s place for a few months till she got her bearings in order. She has a new job now, she understands now that her ex husband is a POS, and that nothing was her fault. She was very thankful that I stayed, and she did want me to stay for more, but I had to go back home to my wife.

When I got back home, my wife was very happy and we carried on with our life as normal. However, a couple of nights ago; my wife wanted to get something off her chest as she felt extremely guilty hiding it from me for so long. She said she had a one night stand a couple of months after I left to my sisters, and she badly regretted it. My wife was crying a lot, and she said she just felt lonely, but the sex with that tinder hookup made her realize sex is meaningless with love.

I was a bit numb and stunned, and I told my wife I needed a few days to process everything. It’s been a couple of days, and I don’t think I can reconcile with my wife. My love for her has massively diminished.

Would I by the AH for considering divorce?

AITA for hosting events outside of my house because of a service dog?

Edit because I explained it horribly: I want to thank u/Agreeable-League-366 for allowing me to use their comment to clear out the confusion I caused for a lot of people

Edit 2: I'm seeing several comments saying I should've told her beforehand. The thought of telling her that she and her dog aren't welcome anymore, therefore no one else in the group is, just feels... mean but if anyone has suggestions on how I can word that for future references feel free to do so!

I don't like dogs, never been fond of them but I don't judge people who have dogs as long as they are responsible. I have a group of friends and we like to host events at our houses like parties, potlucks, game night, etc. About two months ago, my friend got a service dog for her seizures and I was already planning on hosting a potluck but I didn't want a dog in my house (she sheds a lot), so I decided to chose a camping area where we can all have fun and enjoy since it would be so fucked up to deny my friend from coming over with a dog that she needs

This has been going on ever since my friend (let's call her Sarah) got a service dog. Today was my turn to host and one of my friends (say, Jacob) suggested we do a game night. I told them that I would rather have events outside of my house and, well, we don't have anything to connect my Ps4 outside with. I suggested maybe we can do a movie night instead and go out to the movies

Jacob was confused and asked why I stopped doing game night at my house and I explained that I don't want *animals (I'm so sorry I said pets, that was wrong of me, I didn't catch that) in my house, let alone a dog that sheds. No one batted an eye but Sarah started to question me, like if she's no longer welcome in my house, if I am ableist and I told her that I would rather host things outside of my house if she's going to need a service dog. The times we all spend together are arranged in advanced. I chose to do things away from my house so that I wouldn't have to have the dog in my house. If I had a the type of arrangement that meant coming over to my house, I would make myself put up with a hairy situation but I don't have to in this current arrangement

Sarah was not having it and started to call me ableist and unfair to her and her dog, that I've changed ever since she had her service dog and I was baffled about everything she was saying. We ended up not hosting anything and it ended up being so awkward that everybody started to leave the group call. I honestly can't tell if I should be ashamed of myself. AITA?

AITAH for being hurt my ex wife said she never liked sex until she met her new husband?

Title basically lays it out.

My wife and I were married for 12 years. We were in love once but we drifted apart. We mutually agreed on a divorce. We are better off friends than dating.

Our lives are very much intertwined. There's no way for a clean break unfortunately even if this situation makes me run away.

One big thing that broke apart our marriage was that she didn't enjoy sex. She didn't like giving head. She didn't like certain positions or dirty talk. She was a starfish half the time.

She might have faked her enthusiasm in the beginning but over time she decided to give up faking.

We ended divorcing for this and other matters. Like I said we remain friends

She remarried a couple years ago. The new husband and I are friends. He's a little weird but he's handsome and a good guy and he treats her well.

Two of our friends held a dinner party. They revealed that she was pregnant. That wasn't the point of the dinner but they wanted to congratulate her. I was happy for her.

She admitted it was an accidental pregnancy but she and her husband were thrilled. After some discussion she said she didn't know what was wrong with her but she didn't like sex until she met her new husband. It was a passing comment to someone but I did hear it.

I texted her about it and she apologized and said she shouldn't have said it at the party. She assured me it wasn't about me but about her own body. Which stung worse.

My gf thinks my ex wife just stuck her food in her mouth and didn't realize I would overhear. I still feel upset however. AITAH for feeling this way?

AITA for telling my dad I don't owe him a favor and to stop asking like I'd ever help him?

I (17m) don't have a good relationship with my dad anymore. We were close before. But then he moved in with his wife and her kids. My dad focused only on them once we all moved in together. He was always with them, never with me. He focused too much on them. I tried talking to him but he was never ready to listen. Until last year. We sat down and talked.

He'd been talking about why he was paying more attention to them and why it was important to him and how he wanted us to be close to (me and the kids) and then he talked about how he knew from the moment he met them that they were meant to be his kids and he was meant to be their dad. But he always told me that becoming a dad to me had come with a lot and he wasn't always sure of me and stuff like that. How it took time. He said it wasn't ever natural or instinctual with me at the start but he was making it clear it was with them. I told him that fucking hurt and made me realize I wanted nothing to do with those kids. He twisted himself in knots over it and we set up a day for us to have some 1:1 time. Just us. An entire day. Like he did with them.

Then his stepson ended up in the hospital, so it couldn't happen. Dad apologized a hundred times and promised it would happen soon. But then his wife's relative died and she was going out of state to the funeral so of course he couldn't leave the kids and take me for a day while she was gone. And then he took a day off work while I had a day off school and we were just about to go when his stepdaughter's school called for an urgent meeting. Dad's wife was going but dad told me he had to be there too.

I told him to forget it. I was done. No more chances. He was clearly going to put them first and I was going to accept it and spend the next two years distant with all of them and preparing myself to move out and be independent. Dad tried to convince me to change my mind. But I did not. He tried to spring it on me unplanned and I had plans, I told him that, and I told him he was useless to me. He waited until my plans were over and picked me up because it was raining. I was going to walk. He insisted he wanted just me and him for a few. But of course his stepdaughter needed to be picked up and I laughed and told him even a car ride was too much and it's why I was done.

Now there's this thing his stepdaughter wants to go to. They couldn't get tickets. My best friends parents are taking their three daughters and have a spare ticket. My dad asked me to ask them if his stepdaughter could go. I said no. He told me to do it as a favor to him. I told him no. He begged and told me it would make his stepdaughter happy. I told him I don't want to make her happy. I told him I don't owe him a favor and he should stop asking like I'd ever want to do something like that for him after everything. I told him a few more months I'll be out of his hair so just forget it. Dad got frustrated and told me I was making things difficult.
