[META] Rule 3: No piracy
https://preview.redd.it/meta-rule-3-no-piracy-v0-dpnio1urnodd1.png

Just musing: given Dropout’s password sharing policy and the blossoming of so many derivative fan works, clips on YouTube, etc., what even is piracy of Dropout IP anymore? Putting it behind someone else’s paywall, like on a paid-membership private Plex server, I guess?

I really appreciate the relaxed attitude Sam & co. have taken to transformative fandom. They can’t afford to spend a lot of time trying to herd us cats, and we show our love by not knocking too many things off the counter.

I wish these drag queens would stop talking about sex

I'm sorry I did not love Monet X Change Slumber Party... I am in full support of queer culture and drag queens and slay mama slay, yes mama, I love all that but I don't like how drag queens use profanity and talk about body parts and sexualize men. Ogling makes me feel icky because as a gen Z I like to be very sex positive for everyone except when it has to do with me directly or anyone in any culture that I consume!!! I would like these drag performers to take out everything from their acts, and personality and please present something that doesn't revolve around what most of their performance styles work around because I would like to not watch it! I will make an exception if some of the more straight Dropout cast that I'm familiar with talk about cum and if I'm allowed to cum because it will be obvious they are not being serious and then I don't have to think about actual sex!!!!!

What's a song that changed your brain chemistry?

Basically the title. What's a song that kick-started a phase of yours? Or changed your personality? I have multiple:

-i remember watching the MV of "Finesse" by Bruno Mars in 5th grade, and I immediately fell in love with it. I remember going, "This. I want to have this vibe."

-i was watching Hamilton for the first time in 2020. I thought it was entertaining. But then, when "Ten Duel Commandments" started, I remember feeling like, "Shit, this is really good!" My Hamilton phase started when the best dropped.

-lupe Fiasco's "Daydreamin'" had me hooked right off the bat as soon as the beat dropped and Lupe started rapping.

Mine is "Breathe (in the air)" by Pink Floyd, just gives me such a huge nostalgia from the 70's even though I wasn't alive then

Stop it! Stop with the damn "realistic" sound and lighting

We aren't watching in the almost-pitch-blackness on a giant screen movie theater. We aren't listening through a mega THX sound system. We're watching in our living rooms.

  • Give us some damn lighting. Using a candle, the stars at night, the moon, etc. is not enough.

  • Use microphones. I had to turn on subtitles to hear most of the time.

Stop with the "realism". We have imaginations. You can give us decent lighting and we can still understand it's night. You can give us adequate sound and we can still understand people are talking softly.

I'm currently watching Lupin and can barely see and hear half the time. And it's not just Netflix. I had to make a shield around my eyes to see anything most of the time in Dark Matter on Apple TV. I'm also watching His Dark Materials on HBO and it's just as bad. Game of Thrones started this whole "trend" and it has sucked since that notoriously dark battle scene.

I have a 75" TV and 5 expensive Kenwood speakers in a room with only one glass door and I still struggle with this current trend. I know I'm not the only one.

Monet’s Slumber Party episode 1 is incredibly funny

I was amazed at how funny and talented these performers are. They showcased their energy and talent on dungeons and drag queens but this is the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time. I don’t normally enjoy content that feels too podcast-y (sitting around talking) but this was hilarious. Plz don’t sleep on this show y’all. No pun intended.

Has any Dropout moment accidentally entered your day-to-day life?

Question is as it sounds! I had a job interview today and got the stereotypical question, ‘if you could describe yourself as an animal what would it be?’ My mind went blank and all I could think was Roseate Spoonbill, so that’s what I went with.

Has anyone found themself in a similar situation?

Slow-paced Development

YouTube Music has so much potential but its development rate is so fucking slowwwwww. There are so many easily workable problems the platform should have fixed by now. How is it supposed to compete with Spotify and the likes if it still doesn’t have something as simple as a search function for your playlists???? Like I’m trying to add a song to a particular playlist and I have to scroll all the way till I find it? It’s just pathetic at this point. And I’m so mad cause YT has great features , like the algorithm when auto suggesting songs is sooo gooodd and the library is so large, so many songs (or unique versions) I’ve discovered on here are really not on Apple or Spotify, Why can’t they buckle up and do better?
