  • How I fixed my system on the new app - works 100% flawlessly How I fixed my system on the new app - works 100% flawlessly

Hey all, I had the exact same new app issues as everyone else. My system was functionally dead.
I now have a Sonos app that works great, and now when working properly it is much faster than the old app.

This won't apply to everyone's use case, but it's what I had available to me and it has worked wonders:

    1. I realized I had my ATT Fiber router for about 4 years. I hopped on the ATT customer service chat and asked if I was eligible for a new router. They said "sure" and mailed me a new one.

    2. I decided to do the nuclear option on my system and start over. I used a new email address to login to the new app with a new email.

    3. Then I did the work of factory resetting all of my speakers (16 speakers/soundbar/subs, etc) and using the new app to add them to my system.

From that moment on, everything has been great. A total clean washing of my system and total do-over with a new account did the trick. And before anybody bothers to point it out, yes, I know this won't be applicable to everybody, but if it helps a few people it'll be worth it.

What was it like here, you know, before? What was it like here, you know, before?

Hey folks. I’m a Sonos costumer for 3 years now perhaps. I’ve multiple speakers now and I am very satisfied. I joined this group just as the new, updated app dropped. Luckily it has not affected me negatively, I barely noticed the issues others are having but I didn’t really use the app that much after set up.

I was wondering, before the app fvck up - what was it like around here? To me, right now, it seems like very angry customers complaining and a lot of people telling them it’s their modem/wifi or that they are dumb and don’t know how to use the system. It’s really negative and sometimes insulting stuff.

Are "port" and "amp" immune from new app debacle? Are "port" and "amp" immune from new app debacle?

    He everyone,
I am a pretty light user of Sonos gear. I have one amp powering my patio speakers and one port hooked up to my AVR. Aside from the appearance/disappearance/reappearance of some setting options on the port, the units haven't had any problems when running these with one or both on after the app update. I was planning on getting some nice ceiling speakers 3 more rooms and driving them with "amp" units....but reading about the app update experience for the community is kind of scary...But I haven't really read anything about "amp" units having problems....is this accurate, or am I just missing the posts? I do feel badly for those who had the rug pulled out from under them, and am hesitant to invest more money into this companies products on principle....but no other wifi amp options stream Apple Music to my knowledge. So if Sonos succeeded in not screwing "amp" owners, I may pick some up on the used market.

A temporary Fix, for me at least. A temporary Fix, for me at least.

    Hi,

This clusterf*ck of a situation made me dig deep. Even though things are not working perfectly, and the new app is slower, I can tell you of a fix I just did on my network that at last got the *wired* Sonos system back up and running.

Some background. This is a Mikrotik router, and switched network. Unifi Wifi, though its not being used for the Sonos setup. 8 Sonos AMP, one Beam, two PLAY:1 and NONE of it would show up after the recent updates.

I was looking at the firewall, and the traffic going out. What I saw was a device start, perform a DNS lookup and then attempt to connect to an update server, which then failed, even though the DNS request was forwarded onto Cloudfare DoH server.

I decided to fully reset one of the AMP's at this point to see what happened. Sure enough the app detected, and during the add to the room, it tried to update, but then gave an undocumented 1000 Error. On further examination it seemed to me that this was simply the AMP not getting to the Sonos servers.

I then removed the DNS DoH server we have had (since forever) to cloudfare and simply used 1.1.1.1 regular DNS forwarder on the MIkrotik and repowered the units completely. Every single device came back.

Now, this has been a quick test, but its more than I have had in weeks. I am not sure if there is something broken when using DNS over HTTPS. Maybe there is something in the size of the packets going out or a MTU issue (a fix Sonos would need to make). But I am posting this here, just on the off chance that this points some poor soul in the right direction.

I have put DoH back in place for now to see if its just the initial boot of the device, and will report back.

In the meantime, keep the pressure on Sonos :)

How To Setup Sonos Arc, Sub, and x2 Ones to Panasonic UB-450? How To Setup Sonos Arc, Sub, and x2 Ones to Panasonic UB-450?

Can’t seem to get audio to play from the Blu-ray player. I have the arc audio system plugged into the TV and get 7.1 Dolby Atmos when streaming. Also get 7.1 surround audio when listening to music from the system. However, I can’t seem to get any sound when using the Blu-ray player. I have an HDMI running from the player to HDMI slot 2 on my TCL 6 series TV. What am I missing here?

IKEA Symfonisk Speaker lamp w wifi for TV surrounds in bedroom? IKEA Symfonisk Speaker lamp w wifi for TV surrounds in bedroom?

As the title suggests, I’m considering having two IKEA Symfonisk Speaker lamps (one either side of my bed) that would act as TV surrounds (without the need of speakers ruining the rooms aesthetics) and also to stream white noise, or, green noise during the night during inclement weather etc.

Has anyone had success using them as TV surrounds. Of course, I’m assuming this is possible? Thanks!

So far beyond frustrating... So far beyond frustrating...

We reinstalled Sonos on Saturday so we could use Sonophone, which I purchased recently. We have three players, and everything went surprisingly smoothly. (My husband and I did this together, to share the anger and frustration. I'm at the end of my rope.)

We were unable to access Apple Music via Sonophone on Saturday, though, so I sent an email to Stefan. In his reply of this morning, he said that Apple Music needed to be configured in the official Sonos app and that Sonophone would take over from there.

Quick and easy, I thought. Except that our newly installed Sonos system, Trueplay and all, can no longer be found on our network this morning.

Sonos needs to provide users with the option of using the original app.

    2 Era 100s or 2 Era 300s -- small living room? 2 Era 100s or 2 Era 300s -- small living room?

We rent for now (if we owned and I was sure of the size of our living room for the foreseeable future I'd have invested in two 300s.) Our current living room is ~300 sq ft. I am getting an Arc and a Sub and would like to add rear speakers for surround -- should I get two 100s or two 300s? Budget isn't an issue here since I have set aside $$$ for this investment. I'm currently inclined towards 2 100s which I can move to different rooms when we move (think 2-3 years), and by then there may be a newer iteration of the 300s. The idea is to use the system for surround and music. Our Roku TV does not have bluetooth capability, and we don't listen primarily to Dolby Atmos supported music.

I also have a pair of Kantu YU4 speakers attached to my turntable. We don't plan on getting rid of those, but I wouldn't consider the 300s as an option *just* to additionally be able to hook the turntable up.

Hello everyone, desperately needing someones advice with my Vinyl to Sonos System. I have had nothing but issues with my set up for the past 3 months. Hello everyone, desperately needing someones advice with my Vinyl to Sonos System. I have had nothing but issues with my set up for the past 3 months.

    The Set Up

    1. Projec Debut Carbon Evo ( without sonos pre amp... )

    out into

    2. Subzero Phono Preamplifier

    out into

    3. Sonos Amp

    out wirelessly to my speakers

    4. Speakers

    TV & Vinyl Room = 2 x Sonos One (Gen 2s) & A Beam Bar

    Bedroom = 1 x Sonos SL

    Kitchen = 1 x Sonos SL

Everything works fine wirelessly with Spotify btw - sounds lovely

When i switch to Vinyl, the bass is gone now. It feels like the Pre amp isnt passing on the bass through its line to the Sonos AMP. As when i adjusted the bass manually, it made zero to little difference when playing live.

If its likely that the Amp was never getting Bass to it, and you're wondering how I never noticed. I listen to alot of Irish traditional music...

Please pitch in if you have any thoughts.

I'll buy a coffee or donate to a charity for anyone with the right answer

    Many thanks

    Rice

Sonos Amp worth it for in ceiling speakers Sonos Amp worth it for in ceiling speakers

Hey all, don’t really know too much about sound systems but I was told I need to buy an amp so I can use in ceiling speakers that were put in our newly built home.

My question is if the Sonos Amp is overkill for using those for just our overhead kitchen speakers that are used primarily for our Google home hub? So playing music every now and then, any Google announcements and our doorbell.

IR remote users, volume up test IR remote users, volume up test

I am trying to get an IR based remote working to control my Arc. I had it working really well, but all of the sudden the volume up isn’t working. I’ve tried it now with two remotes.

If you use an IR remote, can you check to see if your volume up button works?

Edit: nice, it works now for some reason. A recent update made the IR options reappear for me. I was able to set up a virtual IR remote with a SwitchBot hub.
