Starts off with a Facebook level joke "Officer, take me to jail." Seriously? Then he uses a crowd work story as a bit (already hacky imo) where he roasts a lady for being fat. He must not own a scale, or a mirror, because he is also extremely fat. He's typically the fattest in the room.

Throwaway because some of my friends follow my main account and are also listeners of THT.

Ellen (22F) and I (21F) met through an internship three years ago and instantly became best friends. About a year ago, I started crushing on George (24M), who interns at the same company, but in a different department, as us. Ellen and another one of our coworkers set us up last fall, and we really hit it off. We’ve fallen in love and we often talk about a future together.

This is where things get messy. From early in our relationship, pretty much as soon as we went from just “dating” to being official, Ellen has been colder to me. She’s never made it a secret that she doesn’t particularly like George, though she’s never said anything direct about it. The only issue she ever raised was when we first got together and he got really sick. I was studying for the MCAT at the time, and I was only about a month out from my main test day when he had a pretty bad flare-up of a chronic illness. Because he knew that Ellen and I were so close, he called her to ask her if she thought he should tell me he was sick, or if it would be better to keep it from me so he didn’t take me away from my studies.

Ellen didn’t like this AT ALL. She told me she thought it was incredibly inappropriate that he tried to contact her like that and he shouldn’t have called her about something so personal. I thought her reaction was a little over-the-top, but I talked to George about it, and he apologized to her and never called her again. But she didn’t let it go.

A few weeks later at a party, she made a comment about how I was “always” choosing George over my friends. My roommate was going to be out of town the next week, so she said she should “say her goodbyes” since I would probably just spend the whole week at home with George. She tried to play it off as a joke, but I was really surprised she felt that way - I never wanted to be the kind of girl who turns her back on her friends when she gets into a relationship, and I had been trying really hard to balance my time with my boyfriend and with my friends. But it seemed she felt neglected, so I started putting more effort into our friendship. Over the next few weeks, I tried to make plans with her at least five or six times. Every time, she came up with some excuse not to see me, even once canceling at the last minute and citing a “meeting she forgot about” …at 10am on a Sunday morning. 

I was hurt. I knew our friendship was dying and every time I tried to revive it, she rejected me. Finally, I decided the ball was in her court: if she wanted to be friends, I was open to it, but I was sick of being rejected, and she would have to be the one to reach out to me. She never did.

Meanwhile, things were deteriorating at work. We had been assigned to the same project for the year, which required working very closely together. As our friendship fell apart, she started ignoring me at work, being rude and short, and making my share of our tasks very difficult for me. I felt like she was constantly breathing down my neck and waiting to catch me in a mistake. I figured she was gossiping about me behind my back, but at this point I was so exhausted from dealing with her that I couldn’t be bothered about it. She would say whatever she wanted to say, and I would just be nice and patient with her and count down the days until our internship ended. 

Until today. I had lunch with one of our other coworkers (and my good friend) Kay (22M), and he told me everything. Apparently, Ellen has been telling all of our coworkers and friends that George has been trying to cheat on me - with her. Telling them that he calls her in the middle of the night, sends her inappropriate texts, and when I hosted a party after I wrote the MCAT, he spent the whole night “eyeing” her. 

I know that none of this is true. I love George and I know that he loves me, and even as Kay was telling me all of this I knew that Ellen was lying. It seemed that Kay didn’t believe it either - he was just telling me what he had heard - but the thought that she’s been going around accusing George of infidelity makes me sick. 

I went straight to George’s house and told him everything. I told him I didn’t think for even a second that it was true, and the real betrayal is how Ellen made all this up and spread it around. I was crushed to know that not only did Ellen say all of this, but she’d been saying it to all of my friends for months, and not one of them came to me about it. George helped me get past the hurt stage and now all I feel is rage. Tomorrow I’m going to call my supervisor and ask if I can work from home until the end of my contract so that I never have to see Ellen’s face again. I feel so betrayed and I just hate her so much right now. 

Am I overreacting? Should I be taking the high road and just keep working with Ellen as if I don’t know? I feel betrayed by my other friends too, because Kay thinks they all knew what she was saying and not one of them told me. Should I cut them off the same way I plan to cut off Ellen?

I am so disappointed that she got a bengal cat. They are not ordinary cats. They are tough, require lots of attention, time and training. They are not a cat just anyone should get on a whim without the proper research and to top it off she got him off some random guy selling them off in the street. That is such a major red flag. She won’t know anything about his temperament whatsoever…

My family and I went on a camping trip, and my best friend joined us. We have a pretty large family: one extra-large dog, one medium-sized dog, and my two boys aged ten and twelve. My wife is their stepmom, and we've had the boys with us 90% of the time for 6 years; she loves them dearly. We have a spacious tent that accommodates all of us, though it's a bit cramped.

Here's my issue: without much discussion, my wife decided to stay in the tent with my best friend instead of with us. I trust them both with my life and know nothing inappropriate happened, but still, WTF?

Idk. Just needed to vent.

My bf is a man. If my wife was sleeping with a woman in a tent I would have no problem.

yes the simple answer is getting my boys a tent. I have already told my wife this and that this won’t be happening again unless it’s her brother or father. (We like to camp)

The discussion: We first thought was my oldest son would share a tent with my friend. We told him this before the trip and it was fine but we got there and he was being a bit adamant of not wanting too. And I didn’t want to make him. She stated she would stay in my bffs tent. She saw my reaction shock and disagreement. I told her I didn’t like that, she ensured me it would be fine and not to worry. I didn’t want to suggest me sleeping in the tent with my bff instead as I am my boys primary care giver. She is great, by all means, with no offense to her.

I have been with my husband for 2 years and this has been going on since i met her.

So I'm a loner and when I was introduced to her I was really excited thinking I had found a friend to hang out with but now she's blocked and I don't want her in my house.

Examples of things she's done

1. I vented to her about my partner and she proceeded to tell me I am upsetting and I'm not allowed to vent. So I dont

2)I moved in on a friday by Sunday she was texting me saying I'm a gold digger and it's weird a mom of 3 is with a single man

3) said that in order for everyone in the group to like me I had to be on her good side because she influences everyone

4) my partner likes and pays for my maintenance hair, nails, lashes, makeup because he likes me all done up and I feel pretty, proceeds to tell me I'm shallow and nobody cares how we look or dress

5) blocks me all the time

6)I had paid them to watch the kids from 11-6 latest being 8 to go out with my mil and I got home at 3. I asked him if since I already paid him for that time can I go lay down and take a nap he said it was fine. Gets mad at me for doing that

7)says I treat them like servants and anytime I need a favor I have to pay them. Even though 2-3 times a month since December I dogsit for them for free

8) literally every time we have an interaction I'm told my tone wasn't right, my joke was offensive, I need to watch what I say and do. all im doing is acting like myself I'm always apologizing to the 3 of them and everyone but her says I did nothing wrong.

9) she's a cosmetologist and I had gotten a peek a boo pink when I got my touch up done as something fun but it faded really fast like 2 weeks later there was no trace. My partner asked her to touch it up and he paid her. I told her leave my blonde alone I had just gotten it done and had an appointment scheduled to go back to my natural brown. Proceeds to dye my hair brown so "I won't be surprised when I go back to my natural dark brown" and she only did color on the side no peek a boo at all or any color in the back. I had just done my hair 3 weeks before and had been a fake blonde since 2021

There's more but im at the point to where I dread any group social interaction she is in and try to cancel. I'm always checking in with my partner if I said or did anything wrong after everytime I see her. I'm really sad and my anxiety is through the roof so is my ptsd. I feel like im a child again always being torn down and looked down on. Her bf and my husband have called her out multiple times and reassure me I'm not doing anything but she has never done this to anyone else and they say that to her. She won't give a reason and just said she needs therapy and has boundaries.

Edit to add: I vented to her after she asked what was wrong and it was about him possibly missing my 30th and this was before he and I lived together it was also the first birthday party I had had since I was 6 years old. And it was to hang out with a friend of his. Was I smart to vent, probably not, but she had been venting to me.

Another edit: I don't ask her for anything. I ask her bf to watch the kids she comes with him. Sometimes when I leave she's not even there

Another edit: I do realize I was wrong for venting to her about a private issue and should have talked to him first. I did tell him I vented when it happened and apologized to him. I know it may sound immature and childish being upset about a birthday but to me it was a big deal. I really do love him and we had started doing biweekly check ins where we be honest and talk about things bothering us and things the other person is doing that we are happy apt and would like them to maintain.

She is blocked and I will set boundaries with my partner about her. He says he doesn't care if she and I like each other all that matters Is if the bf and I get along and we do get along great. The bf also apologizes to me for her behavior and says I did nothing wrong and he doesn't know what her problem is. It is causing problems in their relationship.

1 year ago the boys undertook the DougDoug drive thru challenge and sums up the stream. It was a fever dream from start to finish and Nick chiming in every few minutes with "what a beautiful wedding" was phenomenal. I hope the boys do something similar soon just maybe not eating a weeks worth of calories in less than 6 hours.

Me (26F) and my boyfriend (28M) have been together for over a year. We have been planning on moving in together but recently my feet have gotten cold toward the situation. I know he is gonna be very upset if I tell him I am not ready and I personally don’t want it to start a huge argument. He doesn’t have a license nor insurance for his vehicle and it’s a huge concern for me because we can’t afford for his vehicle to be impounded. He could also face huge fines and possible jail time. This isn’t something I am interested in dealing with and having to nag him into doing for the next 6 months or however long. He’s flat out refusing to do it and coming up with every excuse in the book. The other concern is that he doesn’t want me working and wants to be the “solve provider” which would be fine if we were married but we are not and I would like to have my own job and source of income.

What is your take on this and how should I go forward?

TL;DR: not ready to move in with boyfriend
