Anyone know of a cult or high-control group near Anacortes—possibly related to yoga or spirituality? A few years ago, my aunt cut us off and disappeared very suddenly after getting into some unusual new-age spiritual ideas. We were able to find out that she went to Anacortes, but we don’t know why, and there are some signs that she may have gotten involved with a high-control group. Does anyone know of any in that area?

Hi folks!
I’m travelling to the US from South Africa for a few weeks and will spend most of the trip in Seattle. I’m driving down to Portland with another friend for a few days and we’re considering staying in Anacortes on the way back - she will be going back to Vancouver from there and the plan is for me to stay on my own for a couple of extra days before heading back to Seattle.
I know almost nothing about the area but it looks like there are a few really nice hikes to check out. But is it easy enough to get around using public transit, including to trails? Is there much else to do/see easily without a car? I’m mostly into hiking, trail running, bookshops, art and vegan food.
I’m wondering if it’ll be worthwhile or better to just stay a few extra days closer to Portland?

My grandma lives in the san juan islands and we used to take that route several times a year, it’s so annoying being able to see the island but it take 7 hours to get there 😭 The us-canada border is so arbitrary, we are one community living in the salish sea divided up by stupid borders. Wish BC ferries could just restart the route. She can’t come visit us either 😔

Lynnwood, Washington is a commuter city/bedroom community. A northern suburb of Seattle, WA and at the same time a southern suburb of Everett, WA. It is most notable for the Alderwood Mall, the largest (and we would argue *best*) mall in the area. Lynnwood is only about 4 miles from the Puget Sound and about 70 from great skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities in the North Cascades.
