alternative to ampeg 8x10 for touring

I’ve been rocking my GK800rb through my 8x10 for the past while and god… it sounds amazing. however, with a couple week tour looming over me I am having nightmares about lugging a fridge around. What would be a decent alternative that could retain the same-ish sound and also save my back and some space in the van? playing postpunky/shoegazey/post hardcore stuff

Looking for that Ampeg sound in a pedal.

Yeah, I know there are a ton out there lol

I’ve been messing around with the bogren std bassknob and stuck a sansamp plugin before it. Nailed a sound that I’ve been after for a bit. What I’m looking for is a pedal that’ll get me in the ballpark of this tone

The Master Effects Super 300 really interests me. I know there’s also the VT Bass(and Darkglass’ version, though I’m not too fond of Darkglass). What else would be out there to get that tone?

Vintage Ampeg - worth it?

Hey Folks! I'm absolutely in love with Ron Wood's sound in Faces and read that he used Ampegs back in the day. I looked around on Youtube and obscure forums but I can't seem to get good information on those amps in general.

So far what I know is that early 70's were a good time for Ampeg amps, and I saw models like Gemini and V2 or V4. In most of the demos I watched, the guys played really clean, which is not my intended use. As I said before, I love Ron Wood sound, which is basically a humbucker guitar plugged into a tube amp and turned up to 10. It sounds very high-treble, being dirty but keeping some clearness. I tried to simulate it with the Catalinbread SFT - I love it, but I'm interested in the real thing.

I played a Marshall Solid-State for 5 years now and I'm about to join a band, which is why I finally have a reason to buy a good tube amp. I recently tried out the Fender Blues Jr. Ltd. (liked it) and the Marshall Sv20 (too fucking loud).

So if you have anything to say about vintage Ampegs, I'd love to hear it.

Anyone here play Ampeg BAs?

Anyone here play Ampeg BAs?

TL:DR: if you use the Ampeg BA line of amps how do you get a good tone out of it? Like a tone with some shape

I play an Ampeg BA-210 for band practice and live gigs and it’s nice and loud which I really appreciate, the sound carried the furthest out of all amps out in that pricepoint. which is why I don’t wanna buy a new amp, also I don’t have $1,000 lol.

The problem is I’m not in love with the tone the amp makes. It’s quite idk how to put it, flat. Like if EQ is all at 12’oclock it sounds just like a low frequency with no shape to it, if I crank the mids it sounds a bit better, but it doesn’t sound great imo still. I have a lil fender rumble 15 for bedroom and that has better tone than the Ampeg, the fender amp has more of a distinguishable tone. Like you hear more of the stringed quality of the instrument, not just a low “whomp”

So any Ampeg BA users, how do you get a good tone out of it? Amp settings? Pedals? Just want my bass to sound like something

Ampeg Rocketbass for Rock Band Gig

So, I love the Ampeg sound, and was hoping to downsize to something more portable. I was thinking of ether the RB 210 or RB 115. I know the 210 has more power, in terms of watts, but I’m wondering if it still has some nice, deep low end.

My band plays mainly classic and 90’s rock, and is pretty loud, so that’s definitely a major factor.

Does anyone have experience playing these combos in a rock band setting? If so, what would you recommend?
