Meet the future of The Age as we welcome five talented new trainees

The Age has welcomed five new trainee journalists who have this week started a 12-month program gaining experience across the newsroom to hone their skills.

In congratulating the group, editor Patrick Elligett said: “Some of this country’s best journalists are graduates of The Age’s traineeship program and I am confident there are five potential stars in this crop of reporters.

“Their skill and passion for their craft leaves The Age well placed to maintain its position as one of the country’s best newsrooms in the years to come.”

The group was selected because of their passion for journalism, their talent and their potential to provide valuable reporting to The Age’s subscribers.

The new trainees are:

Hannah Kennelly

Hannah Kennelly grew up in Brisbane and studied a Bachelor of Journalism and Arts (Psychology and French) at the University of Queensland.

She has spent the past year working as a regional journalist for the Mansfield Courier covering sport, court and council.

“I’m so excited to be in Melbourne and work for a masthead that prioritises hard-hitting and fearless journalism,” Kennelly says.
