Am I the asshole for not letting my psycopath little sister see my dog?

For context, I (25f) recently moved out of my parents house. My sister (13f) has always stole my parents attention, and in numerous occasions has proven to have psycopathic behaviours. For example, she has killed numerous family pets. My dad always has wanted to punish her, but my mom defended her saying that 'she didn't know any better'.

Now, a year ago, I got my first pet. His name was Arlo, he was a golden retriever rescue dog and he lived with me while I searched for apartments. He was about 5 years old, but he was my best friend. I have never been the one to have the biggest friend group, so taking Arlo out every day was what got me out of bed every morning.

One day, I arrived at my parents house after work, but didn't hear Arlo's distinctive bark. I thought the worst, so I ran to my room, where Arlo was shaking and whining in agony. My sister had arrived after school and wanted to use Arlo as a pony, ending in a broken spine. In summary, Arlo ended up being buried in our backyard a few hours later. Again, my mom didn't do anything, and said "she's just a kid, let her do what she wants".

A few days ago, my maternal aunt gifted me a labrador puppy, which I named Buzz. I posted a story on Instagram, but my family saw it and now my mom can't stop texting me that my sister wants to meet him. I told her that she won't be seeing him anytime soon. My mom didn't stop insisting so I ended up blocking her.

Yesterday, I woke up with my dog barking at my face. Turns out, my mom had taken my sister out of school so that she could meet my puppy. I didn't open the door, but a few minutes later my sister grabbed her school lunch banging my window, almost breaking it. I told my mom to control her daughter, but she didn't respond and only stood there, watching the caos unload. I had to call the cops to get them to go away. My dog was terrified, and I was too. Am I the asshole?

AITA for not allowing my niece to attend my wedding rehearsal dinner?

I'm getting married August 17th. The wedding is a bit untraditional, but nothing super out of the norm. First, my 4 year old son is walking down the aisle with me. Second, I have two "bridesmen" standing up on my side. Both bridesmen are my brother in laws who I've been close to for a long, long time. Obviously, their wives, my sisters, are also standing up on my side (Stick with me, this is important context).

One sister is my MOH, let's call her Regina. Regina and her husband's (bridesman) son is my ring bearer. I picked him because he's the only boy in the family apart from my son. They also have a 10 year old daughter, let's call her Sara. Sara is a little sad she isn't in the wedding like her mom, dad, and brother. It's understandable, but she also has 4 other girl cousins her age who are also not in the wedding that she can hang with the day of wedding.

Now for the drama.

We had a big camping trip this past weekend with a ton of family. It was a super fun weekend. While everyone was starting to pack up to leave and eating breakfast, Regina brought up the rehearsal dinner. She made a comment about kids attending.

I said no kids are attending, only those who are in the wedding party so they can rehearse. There is limited space, and I have a LOT of nieces and nephews so it wouldn't be fair to allow some to go and others can't. I explained this to Regina. Plus, we have to focus on what it's for.... rehearsing for the ceremony.

Regina immediately said "Well what about Sara?" I said I'm sure we can find care for her for a few hours. Regina says "Well I'm not finding a babysitter" I again said, I'm sure we can figure something out. She's 10. She has many neighbor friends she could hang out with or she can spend time with the other family members who will be in town for the wedding... not a huge deal.

Regina absolutely refused any other solution and simply said "Well then I will stay home with Sara." To which I replied.... "You're my maid of honor. You can't not go to the rehearsal."

By this point, I'm seeing red. She is basically giving me an ultimatum: Sara goes, or Regina is staying home.

I'm getting upset so I get up from the table and leave. Meanwhile, my other sisters (2 other sisters) try to talk sense into Regina (remember, one other sister and her husband are also in the wedding party and have 2 kids, and do not have an issue with their kids not coming to the rehearsal dinner).

Things got out of hand quickly. Essentially, the entire family is on my side and have no issues with their kids not coming. They told me to stand my ground, which I planned to anyways.

Regina approached me again about 10 minutes later and was basically trying to bully me into agreeing with her. I offered so many reasonable solutions, which she refused. I even said I'd pay for a sitter if that's really the issue. She said no. I finally asked if it was about the sitter/money or if its about Sara not going in general. She denied it was about Sara not going.

At this point, I'm just dumbfounded. I told her that this is the only pre-wedding event I have planned (I didn't want a bridal shower or Bachelorette party) so I don't understand why she has such an issue with finding/paying for a sitter for 3-4 hours.

I haven't asked for anything else and have been the most chill bride humanly possible. She said "Well that was your choice." And still refused to accept anything other than allowing Sara to come to the rehearsal dinner.

BTW she is having this argument with me in front of Sara!!!!! At one point she literally said to Sara "you don't like being babysat by _____ right?" When Sara suggested a friend who she'd want to hang out with Regina said "no. I'm not asking her mom" like what??? My other sister (whose husband is one if the bridesmen) popped in and told Regina she is being ridiculous.

The conversation ended with me telling her the entire family thinks she is in the wrong here. Regina left without saying goodbye to anyone.

Regina and her husband drove to the campsite separately, and he called me on his way home to talk about the situation. Basically, he told me that IT IS ABOUT SARA BEING LEFT OUT. He said that Regina is trying to "protect her Sara's feelings" and worries about her feeling left out when her mom dad and brother are gone at the rehearsal dinner.

Regina did not say this to me ONE TIME. She only said it was about $ and finding someone to watch Sara. Tbh, that is still not a good enough reason for me to let Sara go. What are you teaching your child in that situation? Sometimes your kid is going to be disappointed. That is life!

I told her husband that If Regina had approached me, privately, and said she was worried about this, I would have found a way to make Sara feel more included. For example, getting her nails done with me or getting ready with the bridal party on the day of the wedding, etc. Honestly, I may have even given in and let Sara come to the dinner.

I told Regina's husband that at this point, there is absolutely zero chance I'm letting Sara come to the dinner now purely because of how Regina acted and essentially threatening to drop out of the rehearsal and therefore the wedding. It's unacceptable. He said he understands where I'm coming from and is going to talk to Regina.

I told him if she doesnt go to the rehearsal dinner because Sara cant come then she wont be in the wedding and that would be relationship ending. I also told him I will not be reaching out to Regina first.

This all happened 2 days ago and I haven't heard from either of them since.

So, essentially, AITA for not allowing Sara to come to the rehearsal dinner? What would you do? My wedding week is 5 weeks away and she is supposed to be my MOH. I can't believe this is actually happening to me when I've done everything I can to make this wedding as easy as possible.

Let me know if I need to clarify any details!

SNL fumbled soooo hard on Shane Gillis

He would have been an all-time great cast member. I’ve seen his Trump impression before, but never at full-commitment. The clips from his tenure would have lived comfortably right alongside the greats. I know he’s obviously fine where he is now, but goddamn SNL dropped the ball.

My SIL thinks we planned our wedding to overshadow hers.

My sister in law thinks we planned our wedding out of spite and caused her to miss out on her engagement time.

For context, my husband and I got engaged last year. My brother in law (husband’s brother) and sister in law were not engaged at the time. I had wanted to get married in October from the time I was little and so we planned to set our wedding for October. However, around that time, my BIL told my husband that he and SIL had booked a venue for October . Bear in mind, they were not engaged. No one else in the family knew they were planning their wedding. Still we decided to plan our wedding for September so that they didn’t lose their deposit. We chose September because we wanted to get married that year and September was the last nice weather month besides October.

From the start, SIL was obviously mad about the whole situation, making remarks about our wedding dates being so close and trying to make me look like a bad wedding planner in front of my husband. All the while, months go by and BIL still hasn’t actually proposed.

BIL and SIL ended up getting engaged 1 week before our wedding, 1 month before their own. A few days later, SIL asks to wear a white dress to our wedding, I obviously said no. Two days before our wedding, BIL sent a message to my Father in Law saying that SIL was thinking about not even coming to our wedding bc the week had been all about my husband and I’s wedding and not their engagement. She still ended up coming and they got married 3 weeks after our wedding but she’s been weird to us ever since, making rude remarks to and about us A few months ago, I got tired of it and asked what was wrong. She told me she felt like we purposely planned our wedding close to theirs to overshadow theirs and took away their engagement time which was so special to her. If anything I think her husband took away their engagement time because he waited until the last minute to propose. Anyway she basically said we were selfish to plan our wedding when we did and she thought we got married just for my husband to avoid being alone at their wedding. Which makes me wonder if she was going to invite me to the wedding if we weren’t married. But it all makes me wonder am i wrong for planning our wedding then when BIL and SIL weren’t even engaged? (Sidenote: this isn’t even half of all that was said/done but I shortened it because it was A LOT)

it just angers me that people are now calling out cody ko after the d’angelo video, its just really obvious that people will not take women seriously unless they are cosigned by another man. britney broski did not care to address it until a man brought it up. just really frustrating as tana has been talking about it for so long now but only a man gave her credibility.

Left confused and hurt after boyfriend lied to me and made me believe I lost his ear pods.

My boyfriend M30 and me F30 had a pretty heated argument that blew up into a full a two day “fight”. We have been together for 5 plus years and living together for 1 of those years.

Yesterday when I woke up I decided I wanted to go for a run to burn off some steam and calm down. I was going to drive to a good spot I knew had a good trail. I packed my purse with essentials and of course the ear buds my boyfriend always lends me because he doesn’t like them and never has used them once.

When I got to my spot I opened my purse and saw that the pods were gone. I emptied my entire purse and they weren’t there. I looked all over my car and nothing. I knew I put them in my purse, I distinctly remember putting them in a little pocket that was on the inside of my purse where I always put them when I take them with me. I texted him from the trail asking if he took the pods out of my purse. He said no he didn’t.

When I got home I said are you sure you didn’t take them. He again said no. I went crazy looking for them everywhere in the house. I even called my mom asking if she had seen them because maybe they somehow dropped out of my bag when I was there the previous day. She said she would look for them. I honestly was going crazy. I asked him one more time and again he said no I must of lost them. Okay fine. I tried to forget about it and go on with my night.

So this morning I had a weird hunch. I checked his bedside table and when I saw those pods sitting there my eyes widened. Like wtf? What was the point of lying to me about that all this time. If he didn’t want me to use the pods why not just say so? I felt so bad for loosing his pods that I went on Amazon and bought a new pair. Is this abusive?

What exactly did I experience in this situation and was lying to me about frickin ear pods after a fight really necessary? What should I do now?

EDIT: I am thoroughly reading all of your messages. Everything that you are presenting me with is a wake up call for sure. First of all, thank you so much for all the good advice and insight. It’s more appreciated than you know. I am going to work on making the changes and taking to heart what you say to me. I have never felt more validated. Something I am almost always doubting are my feelings and opinions because he is very good at making me feel I am in the wrong. I didn’t confront him I just told him to have a good day and left for work. He texted me and asked if everything was okay. So I just said “yep, just bummed out I found the headphones”. His response was that they were under the couch. I mean even if they were (which I know they were 1000% not because I distinctly remember putting them in the little pocket in my purse then zipping my purse back up) why hide them in the SPARE bedroom nightstand, and why not tell me as soon as you found them? Just not adding up. Also we went to bed at the same time last night, so he definitely found them before that.

[Dianna Russini] Personally it was a big day launching a podcast. It’s a big reason why I joined the Athletic but I wouldn’t be ready for this without learning from great people at ESPN. Just got a text from Stugotz. No Congrats! No how did it go? No I’m proud. He needs a favor.

AITA for refusing to let my friend sit in on my therapy session?

I (30F) have been seeing a therapist for about a year now, working through some personal stuff (family and friend dynamics mostly). It's been a real lifeline for me, a space where I can be completely open and work on myself without any judgment.

Recently, my friend "Sarah" (28F) confided in me that she's been feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and stress. She mentioned she was considering therapy but felt nervous about what it would be like. That's when she dropped the bombshell—she asked if she could come to one of my therapy sessions to see how it all works and if it might be something for her.

I was really caught off guard. I mean, I get where Sarah's coming from. She's looking for support and trying to understand what therapy's like before taking the plunge herself. But for me, therapy's this deeply personal journey. It's where I tackle things that are really close to my heart, stuff I haven't even shared with my closest friends.

So when I told Sarah I couldn't let her sit in on a session, she seemed hurt. She said friends should be able to share everything, especially when it comes to mental health. She even pointed out that if the roles were reversed, she'd do the same for me.

I tried explaining that it's not about keeping secrets—it's about protecting this space where I feel safe to be vulnerable. I offered to help her in other ways, like finding a therapist or just being there to talk. But she's been distant since then, and now our friends are taking sides.

Some think I should have been more open, that sharing this part of my life could have really helped Sarah. Others get why I need to keep my therapy sessions private—it's about respecting my own journey and the trust I've built with my therapist.

So, Reddit, AITA for refusing to let my friend sit in on my therapy session?

Was sagt ihr dazu?
