THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME (in a good way).
I don’t even know where to start with this. The horse mechanics in this game is top notch. Nothing even comes close. I played this for the first time one year ago when I got my new pc. And I’m still blown away with how Rockstar implemented their horse mechanics for this game in 2018.
You feed them, you control their trot, you tame them, you praise them and you bond with them. Replaying my third run and I’m loving every minute of riding through the fields, the countryside, the streets of St Denis, and even the snowy mountain trails with my horse.
I went back to riding Roach in the Witcher 3 and I can’t do it anymore. It doesn’t feel right. AC Valhalla’s horses are crap. Same with Ghost of Tsushima when it was released for PC a couple of months ago. In these games, I’d rather keep walking than ride those things in the open world. Don’t get me wrong, GoT and The Witcher 3 are two of my most favorite games from the last decade. But RDR2 is league’s better. The horse riding physics, mechanics, animation, and sound design for other games’ horses feel so clunky and janky now. They feel really awful.
