Different climbers have different strengths. Going into the finals with 4 hyperdynamic climbs as a very static based climber could ruin every chance you had at a medal.

Combined is the format used NOW in most events, following tokyos decision to use combined.

I “trained” for two sports at a high level, climbing and skiing. Climbing was training before and after school each day, with my level peaking at around v11/12, good enough to be competitive but I just couldn’t cut it in comp formats.

Skiing involved numerous seasons at the snow, doing 10 hour days every day, and I only really made it as far as getting my FIS license.
