A Short Hike is every bit as good as everyone says it is. Don't miss it

I've been hearing about this game for years, and I decided to play it this evening, and I had a great time. At the beginning, it "overwhelms" you with a hard to navigate world and a lot of characters who want a lot of things, but because of that, you never focus completely on one task (like collecting shells for example), so you just run around, meet friends, have fun, and progress whatever goals you've set for yourself. The music is gorgeous, the graphics are nice, and the writing ranges from beautiful and melancholic to genuinely hilarious (a guy gives you rumors, on the third interaction, he says "wanna hear some rumors?" you say yes, then he says "im out" and you say "its ok" which is very different from the gamey omniscient hint systems we've gotten in games). You become more capable of moving around, create shortcuts with the stuff you acquire along the way, and learn the layout of this wonderful little world in 1-3 hours. I highly recommend it.
