OP. As a long-time firefighter who has personally seen the results of fires from shit like this, let me say this in the most polite way I can...

Don't do this.

As a long-time Redditor who has personally seen the results from shit like this, let me encourage your bravery.

But don’t forget to update us on the devastating results.

Rest assured, I will NOT be attempting this. 🤓

Just drown it in sad in case it catches fire

Yea definitely don’t try hooking 20-30 of them together to make pretty lights… I have too many lithium batteries haha.

lol, bomb

Having seen IEDs I had a similar thought... Not the bomb itself but the power supply... Or for rogue jammer or collection equipment...

makes sense.

"This wooden shelf seems like a good place to put this."

Near the methanol barrel

I laughed at this and I guess this is a good point. But can someone with experience tell me what can actually happen? Not what they say could happen but what they've seen or can reasonably assume.

Don't worry, I'm not going to do this! But all my life, long before Li Ion batteries, I've heard about the dangers of batteries. Well, turns out most of these stories are complete bs. I know these can be dangerous but is there anyone - such as the firefighter - who can give me a more concrete example?

I'm just curious. Some of the stories I've heard as a kid (long ago) were obviously made up by battery manufacturers etc. so I'd love to hear from those who actually know.

IED masterclass, chapter one: fuck around...

lots of excellent accelerant around that... IKEA particle board is lovely firestarter...

Wow, fuel pellets … great place for a battery! 😬

Oh, I thought it was rabbit food or some shit... Ye gods that's even worse...

Is there a 5 gallon can of gas on the shelf above in a leaky container?

Be still frightened one … I am not your neighbor. 🙃

Protip: Use a drill to make a hole in all the batteries to get better airflow!

I would hope that something like this would not make it past TSA! 😬

I see this and think of the fire just waiting to happen...

This dude clearly has no idea what he's doing.

Looks safe and it's on wood furniture. You are very risky

I want to blow this up via hacking like they did in Mr robot. Do you have this connected to a network? If not will you please connect it real quick?

How would You really "hack" into a battery? Do You just hope the constructor left iot enabled variable load with huge current capacity, or what?

I was surprised to learn about IEEE 1901. :)

Its a joke. Not sure if its really possible, but in the show they put malware in the firmware for UPS devices. I'm guessing to make it use more current than is safe to produce
