thoughts on AI in the future? thoughts on AI in the future?
advice

hello, currently a second-year student in IT majoring in Web Development. i started 1st year with zero background about it. so far, i would say na so-so lang technical skills ko. i feel like wala pa sa 5% mga natutunan ko nung 1st year ako. when it comes to coding, i code on my own and if there is anything im not familiar with or sukong suko na ko, gagamit akong ai then tweak it para makuha gusto ko. of course hindi lang copy paste, inaaral ko rin binibigay na code and do some research. then dun ko malalaman na hindi pa naturo yun samin, kaya ganun pala, kaya d ko alam. i have been studying for a year sa school pero ayun nga gawi ko. kaya ngayong second year ako i plan to upskill at home and maybe build small projects along the way.

im planning to focus on frontend(preferred) then backend after to be fullstack. the thing is i read somewhere na it would just be a waste of time and resources to get a 4 year degree sa web development. kasi ai could probably master that in just a few years daw. with sites like https://gamma.app , https://devin.ai/ , and more, ano pa raw use? of course i like to believe na hindi totoo, and i still do even though i use ai myself. and palagi kong nababasa is ang use ng ai to devs is hindi para kunin ang trabaho, but para mapadali. yan usually nababasa ko and they are all just saying the same thing, pero how true is it? kayo po, ano thoughts niyo dito? ano future ng IT with AI around?

Created this using flowcv.io
I need your advice/criticism because I am aiming to apply in foreign companies as a senior android engineer because most of the companies are looking for senior role for remote setup. I tried my best to compress everything into single page. Thank you!

Edit: The reason why I have 1 project because I considered it as a quality project because I applied every best practices that I can. It is a single project but have a mobile and watch application that communicates together. The mobile will send the distance covered & elapsed time, and the watch app will send the heart rate of the user. So the watch app displays heart rate, distance covered, and elapsed time without the user looking at their phone.

I.T pips in cruise ship I.T pips in cruise ship
discussion

I'm curious about the experiences of IT professionals working on cruise ships. I'm considering this unique career path and would love to get some insights from those who've been there. Here are a few questions I have:

  1. What does a typical day look like for IT personnel on a cruise ship? What are the main tasks and challenges you face?

  2. How did you find and apply for your position? Are there specific companies or websites you recommend for job hunting in this field?

  3. What's it like working and living on a cruise ship? How does it compare to a land-based IT job?

  4. What opportunities are there for advancement and professional development?

  5. How do you balance work and personal time? What are the perks and drawbacks of this lifestyle?

I am currently an upcoming third year IT student who plans on taking the said certification exam in the title next summer (around march - may), my professor told me to watch prof. messer and review SY601 (or 701 if meron na) and prof. messer’s lectures alone are around 170+ videos and not to mention SY601 has more than 600+ questions too. For people who are certified already, how did you prepare for this exam while the school year is on going? Thanks in advance for the advice/s!

Industrial Tech or FinTech? Industrial Tech or FinTech?
advice

Currently a 3rd Year ComSci SoftwareTech Student and the main paths/industries i think i wanna go into in the future is industrial technology or under fintech.

My idea for industrial tech is the embedded software engineer role which I find really interesting especially working with robotics because I’ve had some experience with robotics in the past.

Though, I really find digital banks interesting as well with the use of Blockchain, cybersecurity, more on the infrastructure and operational side of things.

I wanted to ask for those under industrial tech and/or fintech what are your experiences, what are the usual tech stacks you use, and some of the tasks you do and upon years of experience in your industry would you recommend the other? +If you guys have any tips in the industry

I’m more oblivious to what FinTech actually does but the overall technology in development just interests me, but I am sure that I don’t like the data analyst role. Greatly appreciated if you guys could give advice. Ty!

Am I doomed dahil nagresign ako agad? Am I doomed dahil nagresign ako agad?
advice

Hi, more than 3 years na ko sa tech industry. More than 3 years don ni spend ko working as “Software Engineer”. experience ko don is nandon yung pag build and devops tasks like lang deploy, support, pag ayos sa server mga ganyan. Nag resign ako mga 4 months ago kasi need na mag hybrid setup tapos di enough yung sahod kaya nag apply ako sa ibang company wherein purely coding lang then ayun medyo hirap ako sa mga kawork (another story na lang siguro to hahahha) basta I resigned kasi di ko na kaya yung anxiety na binibigay nila. Small team lang ‘to. I wanted to be sa Devops or Cloud Engineer side na kasi yun mas naeenjoy ko kaso hinahanap nila is may working experience sa kubernetes, docker mga ganyan. Iniisip ko if mag grab ako course sa udemy, worth pa ba kahit di naman siya “work experience”? Nagaapply ako ng jobs pero after sa technical Interview, ghosted na ko. Am I doomed dahil nag resign ako agad 4 months pa lang sa work? Pano ba ko babangon dito? I was okay sa first job kahit walang ipon.

Good projects for web developer portfolio Good projects for web developer portfolio
Job Advice

Always wanted a web developer job/role but as of the moment, I took a different job (Web Design) since I can't afford to not have work. As of the moment, I plan on studying web development and add more projects to my portfolio. I have around 4-5 static websites using ReactJS and plan to add more. Pansin ko matindi ang competition for web developer positions, and I was wondering what projects would be a good addition to my portfolio to attract recruiters.

hello, is it okay na Ipagsabay ko ang pag front end at pag dwelve into UI/UX designer? or should I focus either one of them? hello, is it okay na Ipagsabay ko ang pag front end at pag dwelve into UI/UX designer? or should I focus either one of them?
advice

I'm exhausted which should I choose, hindi naman ako medyo magaling sa logic, pero I think in the long run of studying and practicing, I can manage naman? also, kaya ko naman mag-isip ng mga designs when it comes to UI/UX, though my knowledge are limited only, but, kaya ko naman aralin (siguro?), mahirap nga lang makaisip ng mga ideas and creative juices. Pero, for me, the reason why I'm doing this, is because para tumaas yung chance na matanggap ako in the future and also yung value ko, thank youu so much sa mga sasagot!

Biglaang devops interview Biglaang devops interview
advice

So I recently applied for a java developer role sa isang company, passed their technical exam and scheduled na ang technical interview pero biglang nag call ang HR telling me that nafill na yung job role, so the HR asked me if I would be interested to take another tech interview but ibang role which is devops engineer (for graduates) entry level siya which is suitable for me rin. I told the hr that I would like to try and nasched na ang interview ko and I have like 5-6 days to prepare. She told me to review these 3 AWS, Docker, Bash Scripting. I would like to ask if it is possible to be interview ready sa amount of time na yun? May konting knowledge ako sa cloud pero hindi ganun katindi haha pero interested ako to try, so parang challenge ko na to sa sarili ko. Sa mga devops pips dyan baka may tips kayo how to learn these things given that short amount of time? Will gladly appreciate it :)

currently ineexplore ko ang free tier ng AWS.

Career Advice: Switching tech through upskilling Career Advice: Switching tech through upskilling
advice

Hello co-devs,

Just want to ask some advice nalang din. I have 5years of experience of this tech DOTNET. Mga 5 years din ako sa tech na yan kasi from the beginning nung corporate job ko yan na talaga yung tech gamit ko. If ever man na mag palit ako ng tech into python ma carry over ba yung 5years exp ko? As what I observe kasi naghahanap sila ng 5years exp ni python eh basically i dont have exp with python professionally through upskilling lang talaga. How do I explain that to the interviewer? Will my career stuck sa DOTNET nalang? I always wonder this scenario given sa mga job description na dapat meron kang XX years of this TECH. Pwede lang kaya yung general exp yung ipanglaban ko haha.

Thank you in advance sa mag bibigay ng tip it would be really helpful.

Are these feasible to solo make in a year? Are these feasible to solo make in a year?
advice

Due to unfortunate circumstances, I can only enroll in Grade 11 next year. So I want to make use of my free time to work on my portfolio and try out project-based learning. So far I've settled on these:

  • AI Customer Service Chatbot

  • To-Do List with Calendar and Weather

  • Real-Time Text Editor

  • Currency Converter that has a live exchange rate graph

  • Travel Planner

  • HTTP Server

  • Algorithm Visualizer

Half of these I don't even know how to start/plan, but I'll figure it out as I go along. I do want to try making these in different languages, and I'm also planning to thoroughly document them. But I was just wondering if this goal is realistic.
