I want to start off by saying that I hate how fatphobic this show is and I have a lot of issues with Jay Manuel.

However, I think Jay was really really respectful in how he talked to London about her weight gain. Unfortunately the modelling industry cares a lot about your body/weight/appearance. As a fat person I obviously wish weight wasn't such an important factor in modelling but it sadly is.

I'm not saying "shame on London for gaining weight!" I'm just saying I'm not surprised the Jays pointed out her weight gain and I think they did it as respectfully as someone could have.

It's just that I've seen a lot of the cycles the past week and the fatphobia was LOUD compared to what was said to London. The Jays didn't insult London, they didn't call her names and (from what I understand) they didn't belittle her.

Let's compare this to earlier cycles:

• Cassie being measured by Mark Bouwer (which a lot of people speculate was something production told him to do)

• Toccara being told she shouldn't expect anyone to have a size 14 for her

• Janice saying the car looks better than Tocarra

• Amanda telling everyone Cassie has an eating disorder and everyone saying "oh do you think she was vomiting in there?"

• Renee telling Whitney (?) that a plus size model can never be on magazine covers

• Keenyah being given the elephant + gluttony

• Janice telling Keenyah she's "sporting a gut"

I'm still going through other cycles, I've seen cycle 3, 4, (half) 6, 7, 8, 11 and I'm currently on cycle 12. So I might be wrong, obviously.

I also thought the girls were very nice to London as compared to women in previous cycles when it came to weight gain

What do you guys think?

I finished Cycle 19 last week through interlibrary loan. Something that caught my attention was that the DVD had unfinished episode files. A lot of the finishing text was missing. Examples I caught were chyrons, panel overlays (prizes, fan comments, and scores during callout), and subtitles. They also removed the breakdown at the beginning of the episodes post Week 1 and the Next Times (I could see this as a way to encourage binging). What I've seen of the other releases show this isn't the case. Part of me wonders if these files were what was sent out to Amazon (who makes these sets on demand). From what I remember, when this season was still legally streaming, everything was in them.

To those of you who have also collected/watched the seasons on DVD, have there been any discrepancies that caught your attention beyond 19?

Currently watching the S23 for the first time. 5 episodes in and I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS?!???!?! The editing??? The challenges??? Rita as a judge 💀 love the panels tho. I don't know what to say–. And genuine question why is Tyra was not the host in this season?

They had to have figured out they had no chance of winning. I rewatched cycle 15 and thought, what was the point? They were gaslit, talked down to and nearly fainted in Italy just to create content for Ann to win.
