  • "I love Olivia, BUT..." "I love Olivia, BUT..."
    Discussion

If you're a huge Benson fan, what's the one thing that irritates or frustrates you about her?

My main thing is that I think she gets too personally and emotionally invested in helping some victims/survivors over others and I can't figure out what makes her do that.

That's my biggest complaint about season 25. I understand why they logistically needed to focus on one story arc for most of the season; they had to make up for time lost due to the writers' strike. Regardless, the Maddie story arc really irritated me.

Another thing that frustrates me is wholly the writers' fault, and that's the fact that SVU has been the "Olivia Benson Show" for several seasons. One of the best things about SVU 1.0 is that it was a true unit, a team. It's no longer an ensemble. When we get episodes or even just scenes focused on other characters, I really enjoy them because they're rare. I'm a huge Olivia lover, but I want to see everyone.

Can I watch SVU without watching the other shows? Can I watch SVU without watching the other shows?
    Discussion

I am a huge fan of the one chicago shows and I loved the crossovers between PD and SVU. I am really interested in starting it from the beginning and watching through. I know there are crossovers throughout the shows run, my plan was to watch all of SVU and the crossovers it is part of but for now skip the other law and order shows minus these crossovers. Can I do this or will I miss details? If so, what do I need to watch before SVU? Thanks in advance!

Undercover Mother is my favorite part of the Johnny D arc Undercover Mother is my favorite part of the Johnny D arc

undercover mother from season 16 has to be one of my personal favorite episodes. Martha Thornhill is probably the bravest characters I’ve ever seen on TV, she ripped her life to find her daughter, traveled all the way across the country from Calgary to New York and pretended to be a pimp to find her daughter Ariel.

honestly, she should’ve been rewarded a metal by the United States and Canada for her bravery because what she did took a lot of guts. At least Johnny D is in hell where he belongs.

I don’t agree on shipping people who work together for many years when one is married. It would be weird to hope that stabler and Kathy went thru the divorce, just to think in in Kathy’s place, she can’t trust her husband with a work friend. Even though there was no suspicion on Kathy’s part, it’s still weird to ship. Now that she’s dead, it’s still wrong to think that “oh now Olivia has a chance”. That’s just weird. Not that Olivia was ever trying to get Elliot. I’m just saying, someone single by unexpected death, the en think, omg stabler and Olivia can finally be together! that would be like saying one was waiting the whole time for that man. not saying she was but I’m saying if it be real life as an outsider, that’s weird . It may be just a show but it’s still weird. Especially if Kathy trusted the friendship , was close to Olivia, and her kids were close to Olivia. If I were Kathy and Elliot’s children I would think Olivia and or my dad were having an affair or something.

Olivia Benson, is SVU worth it after S19? Olivia Benson, is SVU worth it after S19?
    Discussion

I stopped watching after just recently finishing Season 19.

Can ANYONE here tell me if Olivia improves in Season 20 onwards? Do they kinda back-peddle her self-righteous and "I am never wrong I am always right" attitude? Do they bring nuance back to cases in Season 20 onwards?

Or am I going to suffer Olivia Benson's S19 attitude in the next and future seasons?

After her random outburst without facts in Remember Me, I had to stop that episode. I just skipped through it and Remember Me Too. These would've been PERFECT episodes to show the effects of that type of assault would have on someones psyche and that she was suffering PTSD and saw a man that looked heavily similar to her assaulter and had a mental snap but nah Olivia figured the girl was right and did what she could to ignore evidence and allat. Was a wild move..

Do they finally remove her random super power of always being right? Does nuance return to the show?

Kinda hate how the show began to be painfully obvious in how it worked. Suspect is taken into custody, he said she said, and somehow no matter what someone finds the deus ex machina that finds the person guilty and it's always the most out of pocket shit lol.

will Olivia return to being Olivia or are we suffering the flanderization of Olivia from here on out? Cause I want to continue the show and I'll endure some BS til it improves, but if this is the fate of SVU then I might as well drop it.

    Question.. Question..
    Discussion

Does anyone here know if Kevin Kane will return as Terry Bruno AKA "moneybags"?

SVU has gone off the rails in my opinion and the introduction of his character was one of the only good things that happened recently.

Him and Fin (and Velasco to a smaller extent) is basically what's keeping me glued to the show.

I'm getting sick of saint Olivia.

I remember my mom saying she disliked Olivia from the early seasons. I asked her "if Olivia Benson left the show would you give it a try?" And to my surprise she said "yes, actually I would" (surprised because she is a more "sensitive" viewer, she could handle the past couple of season 6 episodes on netflix tho, minus when one of the perps looked almost EXACTLY like a teenage version of one of my cousins..the resemblance was UNCANNY, my mom thought she would get nightmares)

Also something I noticed about Olivia from the earlier seasons is she seemed to have a distaste for shrinks, particularly her former classmate from the police academy Rebecca Hendrix changed careers, she just seemed extremely standoffish and I had to laugh at her face every time Elliot asked "hey wanna come along" Anyways the irony is, she disliked shrinks, and in the newer seasons she LITERALLY SEES ONE. *Cough*

So anyways, back to the original question-

Do you guys think Moneybags will be returning?
