Pussed off a boomer this morning.

Small but funny. Boomer in line behind me at Walmart self-checkout: "can you believe some librul nutjob tried to assassinate the best president of all time?"

I just turned and said "Well, it's a statistical fact that felons are more than ten times as likely to be victims of gun violence than non-felons."

Cue sounds of huffing and puffing and "rigged trials" as they tried to talk to the back of my head.

My mom snapped at me because I said I was sad an innocent died but I don't feel bad for Trump.

For starters I don't support political violence but when politicians on both sides have been stoking the fires of our division I can't help but not feel bad when some psycho acts out. Who I do feel sad for is the innocent American that paid the price for this and not for the billionaire that is just like every other politician. They don't care about us so I don't care about them.

For this though my mother went off on me saying shit like "I expect better of you" and "Trump is fighting for and cares about us!" And my favorite one "I thought you were a history buff and should know what this kind of consequences this brings". Yeah I am a history buff because I also know what this fucking political tribalism brings. Innocents die and the 80+ year old geriatrics get to keep their power and wealth.

I need to rant a little because it's sad seeing my parents fall so far down the MAGA rabbit hole. Maybe I'm an asshole for not feeling bad that we almost witnessed an assassination but I honestly can't bring myself to give a shit about a politician over the life of an innocent citizen that did not deserve this. These assholes bring it on themselves with their rhetoric and instigation.

My mom completely refuses to accept any "no" as an answer, and sees it as a good thing

She says that "no" is her least favorite word, and that she NEVER accepts it as an answer, and I shouldn't accept it, either

The day before yesterday, she got pissed at me because I said no after she got fully dressed and expected me to take her to the movie theater

Today, she couldn't even afford breakfast, and I had to spend all my money on food for today. Money that I wouldn't have had if I had let her use it up to watch a random movie

She didn't have any unexpected costs between trying to go to the theater and today. I said no in the first place because she didn't have the money (our fridge broke, she already paid for it to be fixed, but it wasn't fixed yet) and I knew we'd need food soon

“Why don’t you get grandma and grandpa to help you” they say as they refuse to help their adult children with childcare.

“Why don’t you get grandma and grandpa to help you” they say as they refuse to help their adult children with childcare.

My coworker and his wife are expecting their first baby soon. He was telling my boomer boss and I that it’s actually cheaper for his wife to quit her job than it is to put their newborn in childcare. Apparently his wife is pretty sad about this because she really loves her job and wanted to get back to work within 6 months after having the baby.

My boomer boss said “well why don’t you get grandma and grandpa (my coworkers parents) to help you?”

My coworker and I both laughed. My boss said “I take it that’s a no”. So I asked him “if [boss’s adult child’s name] has a kid, are you going to watch it for 5 days a week while they work?”

“Well no, I can’t do that” he said.

I don’t have kids, but my siblings do and I can count on one hand how many times my parents have watched their grandkids. My coworker said his parents live pretty far away and don’t plan on helping much.

Why do they think all grandparents are willing to “help out” with childcare when they themselves are unwilling to do so????

Why Do Boomers Worship Trump like He is Jesus Christ?

Just to be crystal clear this is not a political post about policies or the election at all. I don’t care for either Democrats or Republicans or even politics in general. I’m very apolitical. However, I’ve noticed that Boomers, and especially after the events of the last 72 hours, have this weird religious fascination with Trump that is like its own religion.

My Facebook feed has been blowing up with my Boomer family members posting stuff like this (direct quote from one):

That clown show of a trial just kept PRESIDENT Trump in the spotlight and gave him more votes. The left can't destroy God's anointed!!!! The harder they try the bigger the fail!

I don’t understand why Boomers have this religious obsession with him? Since I’m also a pretty devout Christian and don’t view him as anything more than just a man and/or political figure.

EDIT 1:

I know not all Boomers support Trump. That would by ridiculous to actually think that. However, from my own life experience it seems as if about 75% of the Boomers I’ve known or met subscribe to this intense cult of personality around him.

I also know not just Boomers support Trump. However, again my own observations, it appears that Boomers support Trump at much higher rates than other Trump-supporting generations hence the question.

Boomer says young people can't afford homes because we are all out buying jet skis

This happened to me while at work. I go onsite and was at a clients place with my co worker. We are 25 and 35, listening to this 78 year old woman rant to us about the following.

1. That the only reason young people can't afford a home is we all want luxury bathrooms and massive kitchens.

2. That all young people are broke because all of us already own multiple cars, cottages and jet skis! No, not some of us, all of us.

3. That she purchased a piece of land 55 years ago and built her own home on it, all for less than 15k. If we all simply bought land and built our own homes, we would be fine.

4. That it is crazy that young people are going out and buying 600k plus homes when they do not need to spend that much. Keep in mind, average house price for a 3 bedroom in my area is almost a million! Ontario of course.

5. When we spoke about the realities of the market, and that there are no inexpensive starter homes anymore, she simply stated that she disagreed. No other argument, she just disagrees with reality.

She said all this while sitting, and also complaining to us about the cost of things she has to buy these days. I guess life only got more expensive for her, and the "young people" are just imagining it!

Eff them kids, nobody gets ribbons!

I entered a cake in the competition at my county fair for the first time ever, and was really just hoping I'd get a positive response from the judge. My friends and I went yesterday and I was STOKED to find I won second place! So then we tried to find who won first, and my friend flagged down the organizer asking where the winning cake was.

She got this thousand yard stare and explained there was no first place. Turns out the judge was this old boomer woman who judged based on her made up criteria. Rather than "which of these cakes do I think is best? That one gets first," and so on, she gave out what she thought a cake "deserved." So I got a second place ribbon and the other entries got.... Nothing. 14 out of 15 possible points, but she doesn't like raspberry filling, so second for me.

The organizer was SO frustrated and explained she wasn't letting her come back, she had no idea she'd done this - and even did it to the KIDS. Children who are learning but do not rise to her secret, lofty standards, no ribbon. That's just MEAN! So just your typical boomer bully, exercising her imaginary power over an amateur baking contest, and I'm sure will be very upset when she isn't allowed to judge again and insist she was entirely right.

But since I beat the other cakes, I consider myself a winner, and it gave me the confidence to enter the State Fair.
