  • Some ideas for Season 13 Some ideas for Season 13
    Discussion

I know it's been discussed before, but I'm feeling self important and there's a few ideas I'm dying to see them tackle, and I want your thoughts.

IMO, the most iconic seasons are set mostly in a single location where the character stories weave in and out of each other. As such, these focus on trapping a few characters in a single place.

Alaskan Oil Rig: Picture it, a bunch of characters stuck up north in the cold with hidden backstories. It could be inspired by The Thing. Maybe they drill into the earth and unleash something horrific.

Ski Lodge: It's a classic setting. Trapped by a storm, the characters have to figure out how to survive while cut off from the world. Characters attempt to leave but always end up back at the Lodge. It could be a proper whodunnit.

Cabin: Roanoke hit on a similar theme, but it's such a fantastic setting that it's worth fully embracing it. Mix it with some Midsommar culty vibes.

Forest: This could be mixed with the previous theme, but a group of people backpacking through the wilderness and getting lost could be so much fun. Yellowjackets is the closest comparison I have, but I'm really looking for survival horror and trying to live off the land.

Cruise: There was a TikTok trend awhile back talking about this bizarre 9-month cruise. It's the perfect place for bombastic set pieces and ridiculous characters.

Castle/Mansion: Picture a dinner party in this extravagant old building. Take some Clue inspiration. Secret passages, hidden secrets, a horrible family.

Curse: This one is less about the location admittedly. The Ring, Smile, Silence of the Lambs, and Longlegs are all a type of investigative horror we haven't seen tackled in AHS yet. Having the characters seek to understand this curse they've gathered and stop it would be fantastic.

Haunted House: Since season 13 might be the last, I think going back to the roots of the show could be fun. This time, however, going more traditional with it could be great. I'm thinking Amityville Horror-style that's not focused on ghosts, but on the place itself being demonic. The Haunting of Hill House did an amazing job with this concept, and despite all of the media that's tackled it, there's so much else that can be explored.

Anyway, I post this mainly because I think there's so much potential left in this show. Obviously it comes down to what they do with these concepts (namely the characters and their stories). Asylum stands out because characters were either working towards or against a shared goal (escaping/shutting down the Asylum). They had individual goals as well, however, and it's in the interplay that we get really interesting seasons. I feel like the above ideas have so much room for that.

What do you think? Do you see any of these actually being tackled?

S1 is unwatchable S1 is unwatchable

I really really wanted to love AHS, and I thought s1 was captivating and interesting. But I couldn't get behind how it was filmed and edited… I have tried finding more people who think the same way but nobody seems to agree. I couldn't focus on the story at all because the directing was so chaotic and messy. The angels jump every second and it's a weird pacing between the cuts. It's horrible to watch and super distracting. I don't wanna hear anything bout how it's “fitting for the show” and “matches the plot and scariness”. Maybe it could have but it was badly executed IMO. But I recognise that it all comes down to my personal opinion and it is a directing style I personally hate. I'm just wondering if I'm not crazy and if other people feel the same.

For your information, I did get through like 4 episodes. I'm starting to think that I maybe judged too soon and I should try another season to see if the same directing and editing choices were made for all seasons. If anyone knows of a season that's not filmed the way s1 (about the haunted house) was lmk pls!

Interesting Thing About Roanoke Interesting Thing About Roanoke

    [SPOILERS]

I'm on ep. 5 of Roanoke and I like the campy old flashbacks they cut to once they're talking about the history of the house. The directing on those parts is reminiscent of something like Dawn of the Dead. In these old movies the resolution of our screen is much worse than what it is now. The violent parts of Roanoke read as extra violent but not campy like what it's an omage of. Like all the gore is really visible and realistic so it makes you flinch but it isn't compelling in the story. Somethings might be scarier if we pan away or don't get to see the full gore of it. the goryness just makes me flinch and gross me out. idk i like the flashbacks but the violence is interesting.

Matt needs to clear his throat 😭 the poor guy's voice when whispering and talking normally is the exact same i get so distracted by it

Hi guys! So I'm binge watching AHS to catch up with the new seasons and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining a AHS roleplay server if i create one?

It would be one that includes all seasons, all characters allowed especially ocs, it'll have discussions, flexible plots and mundane things as well and you know, something that's generally chill.

So would you guys be interested in such thing?

Something just occurred to me about Shachath… Something just occurred to me about Shachath…
    Discussion

So we all know our favorite Angel of Death who releases souls from their pain suffering, but I was thinking about The Hellmouths: Murder House, Hotel Cortez, Roanoke Colony, and Camp Redwood

So as it’s been established by Cordelia, Hell Mouths are locations where Satan (or in the case of Roanoke, The Old Gods) has their influence in the world, and for some reason it prevents those who die from moving onto the afterlife

Which makes me wonder what if these locations essentially have some sort of force field or aura that prevents Shachath from stepping onto the premises to release the ghosts from the earthly plane and take them to the afterlife (let it be Heaven or Hell)

What do you miss most about AHS? What do you miss most about AHS?
    Discussion

This is for those of you (like me) who feel like AHS has gone downhill, especially with the most reason season: Delicate.

I miss episodes being an hour long, slow burns that actually went somewhere with characters, plots, and motives that were fleshed out and made sense. I miss big reveals and character deaths that were shocking and tear-jerking. I miss good writing.

And like many.. I miss Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters being regular cast members.

I'm behind on the seasons! I liked it the whole way through. The last episode seemed a little rushed but it completely made sense to me that Alma would be so destructive with her family. She's a kid with unlimited potential and a big ego. Kids need to be taught to be good people and she isn't getting that from anyone now. It also made sense to me that the pills would be pushed quickly into Hollywood. Ursula was just as thirsty for more money as any of the pill addicts.

Fanfic question (mild spoilers for ahs seasons 1-10) Fanfic question (mild spoilers for ahs seasons 1-10)
    Discussion

So I’m writing an AHS fanfiction and i have a couple of questions to ask all of you here on reddit

    1. Which characters should I add as love interests in my fanfiction? I have at least one killer from every season (expect Roanoke also please note that it’s a polyamorous fic)

Characters that will be included: Tate Langdon (Murder House), Oliver Thredson (asylum), Johnny Morgan (asylum), Leigh Emerson (asylum), Axeman (coven), Dandy Mott (freak show), Edward Mordrake (freak show), John Lowe (hotel), James Patrick March (hotel), Kai Anderson (cult), Michael Langdon (apocalypse) and Richard Ramirez (1984)

    Characters im considering

    Jeff Pfister (apocalypse)

    Austin Sommers (double feature)

    Harry Gardner (double feature)

    Mr Van Wirt (spinoff)

    Santa (spinoff)

COMMENT YOUR THOUGHTS ON THESE CHARACTERS AND ANY OTHER MALE KILLER CHARACTERS YOUD LIKE TO SUGGEST DOWN BELOW

Ps: Do not suggest twisty or any John carol lynch characters because clowns freak me out and so does he (dandy and Kai are lucky to be on the list)

    1984

I always loved this season, decided to rewatch it the other day and I love it even more I feel like it deserves way more credit, the whole story writing of this season is 10/10 the multiple twists, the character building of each character is insanely good you def develop a relationship with each one of them through the season which is insane because it’s so many of them, also the ending is super satisfying and takes you through a crazy ride, a top 2 contender for me out of all the seasons I wonder what everybody else thinks about it ? Plus an honorable mention is that the soundtrack is crazy good and the cast I loved ! Prob the last good season even tho I enjoyed red tide a lot it should of been a stand alone and it would of been top 5
