NPR Politics Podcast cannot stop bashing Biden

Title.

I'm getting increasingly frustrated by NPRs hyper focus on Biden being old. Yes, old man is old. What about Trump? What about these multiple court cases, new rape allegations, Epstein connections...etc.

I just listened to the podcast this morning titled "Is Project 2025 Trump's plan for a second term? It's complicated."

And in 14 minutes they spend all this air time saying "well, Trump himself didn't write it" and "while Trump agrees with a lot of the Project 2025 proposals, he hasn't said he adopts it entirely."

I'm already annoyed at how they're downplaying both the extreme nature of Project 2025 and how Trump is on board with it. But then?

Twice, unprompted and unrelated, they make sure to punch down on Biden in a podcast about Trump.

"Voters are already concerned about Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance."

Wtf?

Two minutes later.

"I can imagine a moderate who has issues with Joe Biden's age and his mental fitness and his ability to be President." (but is also worried about Project 2025)

What the hell?

NPR is feeling more and more like they are actively working to downplay Trump's vile conduct and promote a second Trump term.

Has anyone else noticed this? Was NPR like this when Obama wore a tan suit? Why is old man old such a violent sticky talking point compared to felonies and rape by the opposing candidate?

EDIT: I do not mean to suggest Biden is immune from criticism. To be clear, Joe Biden is an old ass man and I don't like him myself.

What IS insane though, is how often NPR, what I loved as a neutral source of information, gives "equal weight" to presidential candidates (1) being old and (2) rape, felonies, and a plan for total deconstruction of modern democracy.

NPR is improperly acting like these two things are of equal weight and air time.

KQED Political Podcast Re: Project 2025 is Absolutely Horrifying

Political Breakdown Podcast this week re: 2025 is a horror film that is real life! Not NPR but public radio so I hope this is allowed.

I truly hope the supporters of Donald Trump realize the absolute power we are putting in the hands of the Presidency.

It is just stunning the amount of unchecked power the GOP will have, to change the country with literally no recourse for generations. Only possible check is when the current conservative SCOTUS justices die out which maybe multiple generations if Trump gets to appoint 3 more.

I mean if the people understood the political ramifications of the judiciary and the rulings of the last few weeks. EVERY American should be terrified that based on a whim Trump could go the way of Gestapo, if he so chose to, and there is no way to stop him other than political impeachment (3/4 of congress agreeing) or a military coup (civil war).

Listening to this podcast I feel like the people in Germany must have felt as Hitler took over and there was nothing they could do…. (I realize this is an extreme position and usually is no comparison with America but alas here we are). History tells us this type of political change in such a large country does not happen overnight…It seems like the American people are frogs in the proverbial Pot of water simmering to our death, unaware of our fate.

Talk me off the ledge. I used to say, The Presidency doesn’t really have any power so people losing their minds over someone becoming president was silly. No longer, the president, if GOP, apparently is King! unfettered power.

This morning on my commute I was listening to the latest episode of the podcast (Ep. 163 Brynley Stent - TM NZ S1). I have to wait at a very long light to make a u-turn to my work. Just as I pulled up to the light, the episode was just coming to an end and on comes Madeleine Sami’s “Fck the Western World, We’re China”. My windows are partially down. The man next to me has his windows completely down and glances over with a confused look, like did I just hear what I thought I heard? He looks early fifties. I can see him at the side of my vision with my sunglasses on. I’m not making eye contact. But I am also not turning my podcast off because of a stranger. I figure it will only go on for a few seconds like the other snippets of the show. The song keeps going: “We control the world’s economy…” he looks over again just in time for the chorus, louder than before “FCK the western world, we’re China!!” Now he is openly staring at me, mouth slightly ajar. I’ve come this far, I’m not turning it off now. I hope that Ed’s voice will come back to explain the next show, or an ad, or something. No. The song goes on for a full minute with like 10 seconds of exaggerated vocal runs at the end. The light changed right after it ended.

taskmaster podcast gave me reconsider jeremy wells

On their s1e1 NZ podcast, they point out that NZ tasks are very extremely biased towards creative and otherwise subjective tasks. about 64% total at the LEAST (series 1) vs the uk which at MOST had 54% (series 9). It's made me rethink that it's so easy to get down on Jeremy hard because so many things are just based on what he thinks (rather than 'fastest wins' or stable scoring like that) so there's more room to critique his choices. In the past I've been critical of him but now I can appreciate and realise that he just has to go on what he wants (after all he's the taskmaster), which isn't going to please anyone. And it doesn't help that he doesn't have as large of a fanbase as Greg. I don't know, I feel bad about how I criticized the guy.

It's so funny listening to Dr. Gray's podcast interviews where the guest from adcoms directly contradict his advice

It's so funny listening to Dr. Gray's podcast interviews where the guest from adcoms directly contradict his advice

His whole brand is "your stats aren't that important, you shouldn't have a checklist, focus on having a great story and writing", meanwhile every adcom interview on his podcast they either outright say or weasel around saying that the most important thing is ticking the boxes of having high stats and hours being paramount. I think two of them even said that the impa t of writing was "neutral at best" in that bad writing could hurt an app but superb writing is barely useful.

Obviously he has products to sell and so he wants to focus on the things he can sell to people (essay and app editing) and not what they can't (better grades and ECs), but listening to him try to keep his sales pitch going while it's being undermined is actually comedy.

Jess acknowledging on the podcast that the show is a fantasy when it comes to the pull out method

It was funny to me that she acknowledged in this episode that Bridgerton is a fantasy when it comes to how effective the pull out method is for all the men, and that Benedict and Tilley are relying on it for her to not get pregnant. I mean all of the conflict in season 1 hinged on Simon perfecting his pull out game. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2bjn1iMVEA6JENa9r5FtSM?si=77TmstiER662rSxILMrVFg&t=2433

Rachel Goes Rogue Podcast: Episode from July 11th, “Chapter 37: Pop the Question”

***reminder the parts recapped here are only VPR related parts therefore doesn’t cover everything in this podcast episode.

Do you wish it worked out with you and Tom? (Timestamp: 3:47)

  • Rachel: Okay. First question we’re starting off talking about Tom even when I said I wasn’t going to anymore. Well, well, well, well, here we are.

  • Rachel laughs

  • Rachel: I guess I changed my mind. Okay. Do you wish it worked out with you and Tom? No I do not. The part that I wish it worked out on are things that I would want different in him. And I have to accept the fact that I cannot change anybody and nobody is going to change for me. So Tom as the package that he is, I am happy that it did not work out between us.

Would you watch a season 12 of Vanderpump Rules if there is one? (Timestamp: 4:34)

  • Rachel: Absolutely freakin not! I am traumatized after watching last season of Vanderpump Rules. And I never wanna watch a season of it again.

Do you regret breaking off your engagement with James? (Timestamp: 17:29)

  • Rachel: No I don’t regret breaking off my engagement. I knew that James was not the right person for me because I wouldn’t treat other people the way that he treated other people. And I would be embarrassed and become very very small. And want to disappear when he treated people very disrespectfully.

Did you have any empathy for Katie during season? Do you feel like you owe her and her mom an apology? (Timestamp: 17:55)

  • Rachel: I did not and that is not something I am proud of. Katie, I’m really sorry for not considering you and your emotions and what you were going through. I did not even think for one moment to put myself in your shoes. And I caused you so much pain. And I’m truly am sorry for that.

  • Rachel: I decided to play into a role on a reality tv show for the views. I’m not doing that again. And I hope you are healing and I hope you’re doing well.

Would you be open to talking to any former cast members? Do you ever see a world where there is any sort of friendship with any of them? (Timestamp: 18:50)

  • Rachel: I don’t see a world where there is a genuine friendship because I feel like trust has been broken on both ends. I feel like the love that I received from the cast members were conditional.

  • Rachel: I would be open to talking to Lala. I don’t think that’s there’s a world where there’s any sort of genuine friendship but I think there’s a world where we can be cordial to each other. And not send the dogs on each other anymore.

  • Rachel: So all I can do and I understand completely. It’s apart of the acceptance of the situation where people are going to think what they think given the circumstances and I would think that too. All I can do now is show up for myself consistently, honestly, and over time, I will be able to rebuild that trust. This whole journey has been such a process for me and I think it’s very poetic that I entered into this reality tv world thinking it was real.

  • Rachel: And knowing that I would overcome some sort of block with my public speaking and social anxiety and external validation. And it has so much so that I know myself better than I ever have before. I can confidently say that.

  • Rachel: And I can speak freely and honestly and openly without fear because the people that are receiving my message are receiving it for a reason and I think the poetic part is that it’s through a podcast which I would have never in a million years thought that I would have had. Thank you for listening! I am happy that you are here.
