Syd’s Naivety and The Bear
false

She never even opened the partner agreement, so while she knows that Shapiro is offering her 10k more salary and (maybe?) better benefits than Carm, she has no idea what percentage/ # shares ownership either party is offering.

Shapiro is shown as a middling line cook that won’t own up to his mistakes (the smudge incident) who is not taken seriously by his peers. He clearly does not have funding finalized and until she sees a partner agreement in writing and progress on location selection and buildout, she should stay put with the chef that helped inspire her to become a cook - even if toxic.

The devil you know is often better than the devil you don’t, and her unwillingness to question Shapiro’s circumstances shows the naivety of “invincibility” that chef Terry refers to. She already left once and came back - if she leaves again she shouldn’t expect to be welcomed back.

Do any of us take this show really seriously????

Personally, I believe that seasons 1-5 are actual, really really good television. And 6-maybe 8 or 9 was really trying to build off of what the show already was, and make it better. But from like 10 on they kind just gave up on making a lot of sense or being super serious, and kind of leaned into the melodrama of it all which I love. Im not saying the later seasons are bad, but I think they were more for the fans than anybody who’s just following the storyline.

I just want to know others fans‘ thoughts???

Gale IS a bad guy

This isn’t regarding his thought process about being okay with manufacturing drugs for consumers as he believes they have free will and may aswell give them the very best. That is stupid as people are addicts.

He’s a bad guy because he is breaking one of his own moral standards- his veganism. By working with Gus and bringing him money via the drugs operation, he is therefore guaranteeing more money goes into the slaughter of chickens and usage of other animals, e.g. via milk, etc.

He should have to objected to the morality of that at least which shows his justification to working with Gus is, in actuality, ENTIRELY self-serving so he can have a good paycheque and a career that’s mentally stimulating/freeing without any need for bureaucratic bullshit and dealing with anything he doesn’t find interesting. That’s what makes him a bad guy in my opinion.
