PrusaSlicer 2.8.0 menu feels like a step backward

PrusaSlicer 2.8.0 menu feels like a step backward

Per the changelog, “The system menu was removed (on Windows and Linux only) and it is now accessible through a separate button at the very left of the top bar.”

I get it, it looks sleek, but now these often-used functions are hidden behind an extra layer of clicking (Windows 8 proved how annoying this can be). Functions like File, Edit, etc. feel much better when they're up front and accessible, like they are on most desktop programs including MS Office, SolidWorks, Meshmixer, and Audacity.

Weekly PSA: Don't buy the AMS Hub save yourself money!

The AMS hub at time of writing is £48.99 GBP, instead buy a 4 in 1 Adapter or AMS lite hub (requires taking off some plastic from it) and Print this:

or this: https://makerworld.com/en/models/420297?from=search#profileId-323021

AMS lite hub print: https://makerworld.com/en/models/74984?from=search#profileId-79447

It works perfectly and you'll save yourself nearly 10x the price.

Shapeways is bankrupt, what now?

Some of y'all may know of Shapeways - the 3D printing service.

Apparently they filed for bankruptcy on July 1st and ceased operations on July 2nd. https://www.cgchannel.com/2024/07/3d-printing-firm-shapeways-files-for-bankruptcy/

This stinks because I have been using them for over a decade for specific metal 3D printing needs (420 alloy stainless steel, 316 stainless) as well as nylon jetfusion prints

Currently I have a $500 order which was nearly complete (many items ready to ship with a few items still in process). But it appears that the items will not ship despite having customers waiting on the items.

So now I need to file a bank chargeback and refund my customers since I highly doubt I'll be seeing my order ship.

But what now? Where do y'all go when you need affordable metal 3D printing done? What about HP Jetfusion printing access? Looks like Hubs can do nylon printing for me, but they don't appear to do metal 3D printing....

Edit - thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'll be looking into them and getting some quotes
