Here in Aalborg, Denmark we have a small gem called 1000fryd. It's a DIY-venue founded back in 1984. Through the years many prominent acts have performed there, including Green Day, Die Toten Hosen, Frank Turner, Rancid and many more. Personally, I've experienced a huge number of great shows down at our little venue and I have so many great memories from that place.
However, 1000fryd is in trouble. Long story short: The local authorities received a complaint about noise from a neighbour. You can argue that the circumstances are unfair, as 1000fryd warned the entrepreneur of the neighbouring building back in the 80's, but he chose to ignore it. The venue is forced to undergo massive renovations to meet the demands, meaning that they'll need to raise 2 million DKR (≈ $290,000).
The venue doesn't have that kind of money and they're in desperate need of donations and this is where you can help.
Even a small donation can make a huge difference. I really hope that some of you will support this fine little venue here in Denmark to help keep the DIY-spirit alive.
