I worry that if it's to mutate to adapt to something as violent and unkillable as 682, i could think it turns the host into something far worse and creates an elder god.
Well 016 usually physically changes its victims while 053's abilities are congitohazardous so i doubt that
(Also there are multiple verses and tales with different interpretation of the relationship between 053 and 682)
Tbf the fever is probably the body fighting back so there's nothing much it CAN do
