Or like ninjas - "only a ninja can sneak up on another ninja" - Tim Minchin
BMX
Shriever and Sakakibara are just in a different league to everyone else A big part of me hopes they don't face each other in the final runs of the SF, and save the battle for the final
BMX
Can anyone see anything other than a french 1-2-3 in the BMX final later? They're winning any race you put them in, in any combination
1 point for first, 2 for second etc in each race run
Each rider will go three times but they'll mix up the heats so it won't be against the same opponents
8 riders with lowest total progress
For everyone that is asking about that tie in time - they checked the photo finish to go down to thousandths
Their big problem is they're trying to chat while there's action going on! The background noise is the crowd clapping for the high jumping decathletes
Honestly they're looking a bit silly trying to discuss stuff while there's action going on
And it will be a massive upset if she doesn't end up with any medal - she's favourite for the gold!
Athletics
Some of these graphics, like that finishing times one are a bit rough... Badly cropped and slightly fuzzy
Men's Judo 100kg+ is probably what to catch
Most people will now be tuning into Athletics
I thought they're sticking with odd numbered years for world champs, but were going to create something new for the missing year? Olympics - World Champs - New Event - World Champs being the cycle?
They have the Athletics on their second stream - the commentary is a little better than Discovery+ I think
The downside is the cutting back to studio for some yapping when stuff is going on
Yeah, they have been known to do this, maybe one day it will work
Athletics
This 5000m compeition will be amazing across the whole Olympics - there's three of them I think who have been faster than the WR as it stood in Tokyo
Kye Whyte is struggling with a back injury and it showed last night, he struggled in the QFs but is through to the semis
Beth looked amazing, one of three riders to win all three of their respective heats. Not quite as fast in raw time as Sakakibara, but very close
Anyone else watching the judo with Discovery+ English commentary and getting football commentary on top of the judo commentary?
There isn't really penalties? No touching penalties for hitting the gate posts at least, and I think if you miss a gate you are automatically last. Not sure of the rules regarding the racing, what constitutes an acceptable move though
What sport would make the best "cross" variant? I want to see equestrian show jumping cross
Windsurfing medal races postponed to tomorrow when wind is forecast to be good
So no, everything else is early stages right now
FIFA didn't want it outshining the world cup - it's all politics between FIFA and IOC, worth googling the history, but it's pretty rubbish
Aesthetically I really like the design of them, but the main point of them should be simple clarity and they are no good on that, so yeah, I'm with you that they're not great overall
