International victim organizations have issued a joint statement calling for Dutch beach volleyball player Steven van de Velde to be banned from the Olympic Games. Van de Velde was convicted a few years ago for raping a 12-year-old girl. The organizations believe that "there is no place for sex offenders at the Games."

Does anyone know if there is a more detailed seatmap for beach volleyball? The one on the resale site gives you no idea of which side you’d be sitting on.

I know this is a hard question to answer but any input would be appreciated.

Hi all,

I applied for multiple passes because we’re going to the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe and Musée D’Orsay around July 19-20. I submitted official tickets from the websites and the request was rejected because “The address you give is not within the Olympic opening ceremony perimeter: you do not need a Pass Jeux to access it.”. I checked on the official Pass Jeux website and all areas are within the grey perimeters.

Any idea why and what can I do in this case?

In response to a congressional hearing titled "Examining Anti-Doping Measures in Advance of the 2024 Olympics" featuring Travis Tygart from U.S. Anti-Doping Agency(USADA), the World Anti-Doping Organization responded by publishing a scathing denouncement of American media & politics' fixation on the 23 Chinese swimmers who were allowed to compete despite testing positive for Trimetazidine, the same mediation for which Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was banned for four years.

I didn't see much media coverage on the topic, but I read the WADA response, and it's packing heat!!! You can read the whole here, but to summarize(in my words), WADA is basically like: You want to hold a congressional hearing on Anti-Doping without inviting the World Anti-Doping Agency? What's the point? We stand by our actions and invite independent review, something you would never be able to handle! USADA wants to morally posture the world on anti-doping when the United States has terrible doping compliance. USADA has a budget multiple times that of France and Germany but submits far fewer samples and enforces WADA compliance in only 10% of its athletes, with 30% being undertested. Stop flinging fecal projectiles from your castle made of glass!

They even threw in this quote: "A hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation." Damn, WADA, are you going to commission a diss track next? I'm surprised that nobody is talking about how these two major sporting organizations are beefing as we rapidly & irreversibly barrel toward the chaos extravaganza that will be Paris 2024. Can't wait.

That is the question that bothers me about the Olympics, so, if you can, answer it.

In the Summer, when in Tokyo, Metkić and Pavić met against Dodig and Čilić, it was like rooting against your country, but supporting your country.

And in Winter, when Janica Kostelić won four, yes FOUR gold medals and a close silver in SLC in 2002.
