Bought a new car privately but seller is dodging my calls about getting the title notarized and signed. Bought a new car privately but seller is dodging my calls about getting the title notarized and signed.

I bought a 2012 Nissan Maxima in Kannapolis off Facebook marketplace for $3,000. The car is in good condition and the only thing that needs to be done urgently is getting the air compressor fixed as well as oil change. I was able to get it put under my insurance but due to the seller not notarizing it and not letting me know it was in his sisters name I’ve been put to a stop on fixing the car up. He hasn’t responded to me in 3 days on when his sister is available to meet up. I last talked to him Friday as after I payed him he went to Las Vegas. What do I do now if he doesn’t respond back to me? My friends uncle who is a police officer in charlotte where I reside told me to go the dmv police and they can help me.

What should I do?

What are y’all doing to make 6 figure incomes (without a degree)? What are y’all doing to make 6 figure incomes (without a degree)?

My wife is from NC but lives with me in Texas. We have always talked about moving to NC one day (so she can get closer to friends/family, and I think the state would bring a better quality of life for me)

The thing that’s always stopped us has been the pay difference. My pay scale locally as an electrician (union) has always been $5-7 more an hour. I recently got what is considered a dream job for electricians where I’m from and now make nearly double per hour what the union scale is in NC.

If we were to uproot in a few years and head to the Carolina’s, what kind of careers are people without a degree doing to make a decent income for single income families? It’s weird to think about, but I have never had to work in an area without a thriving industry that powers the entire economy.

Question about transferring a car title from deceased person to myself. Question about transferring a car title from deceased person to myself.

I finally got named administrator of my dad’s estate and I need to transfer his car title to my name and get the car registered.

It’s impossible to get any sort of assistance on the phone from the tag office or dmv in general, so I’m wondering if anyone has had to do this recentlyish and what I will need to bring up there. I have to take time off work to get it done so I’d like to not have to go back lol.

I need to get it insured under my name still so I will have proof of insurance before I go up there, I also have: The car title The notarized paper from the clerk of court saying I can do it His death certificate My license obviously

Am I missing anything?

Thanks friends.

My son became unexpectedly disabled as a young adult. He applied for and was approved for SSDI in about 6 months.

He is required to be on Medicare. Which is $176/month. Co-pays are $40. His prescriptions are a reasonable $10/month. The private insurance I had him on through my work was less than that. But if you are eligible for Medicare private insurance won't cover you, as I've recently found out.

He only gets $1000/month is SSDI, then you have to subtract the $176.

I'm paying for his food, utilities, copays, medicine and providing transportation to appointments right now. His SSDI is covering his rent.

I'm worried about the future. What happens when I'm no longer here or if I'm not capable of helping as much? How will he get to appointments and pay for them? Who will help will disability reviews? He will not be cognitively able to help with those.

What kinds of assistance should I be looking into? Where should I start? I have no experience with receiving welfare.

Moving to Charlotte, NC from Europe – Need Help Navigating the Basics! Moving to Charlotte, NC from Europe – Need Help Navigating the Basics!
discussion

Hey everyone,

I’m moving to Charlotte, NC for the first time and I’ve heard that the city is already quite full and bustling with new residents. I apologize in advance for taking another apartment in the city and creating even more traffic, but my company is sending me there, so I have no choice. The company office is in uptown.

I'm moving from Europe and I don’t know anything about the area or North Carolina in general! Could you guys help me understand what the first things I need to do when I get there? BTW, my company is providing 0 assistance with the move.

From reading other posts, I know I first need to get a driver's license, but to get a driver's license I need liability insurance, and to get insurance I need a car, but to register the car I need a driver’s license. So what do I do first?

Also, I assume I need an address first to get insurance and other essentials. Do you guys have any recommendations for apartments? My budget is quite open since I’m moving with my family and I understand most of my pay will be going to rent.

  1. What pay do you guys recommend to support a family? For the time being, my spouse will not be working until we can get fully situated (social security, green card, etc.).

  2. Which dealership or family-owned car business do you guys recommend? I'm open to purchasing any kind of car for now, just looking for firsthand experiences where you guys had some positive experiences purchasing a car.

  3. What local services and utilities do I need to set up right away? Any tips on providers for internet, electricity, etc.?

  4. Any recommendations for family-friendly activities, parks, and restaurants?

  5. What are some great places to get groceries and household essentials?

  6. Are there any cultural differences or customs I should be aware of when moving from Europe to the US, specifically to North Carolina?

I know this is a lot, but any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all your help!
