Is it me or did Luke seem heavily made up at points? Like bronzer, contouring, highlighting? There was a plasticy look to his face at points and I feel like it was either heavy makeup or lens filters or both? Anybody else think so too?

I'm happily married for going on 6 years now. We met half a year before we got married. It was love at first sight. We got engaged right away, then married, had fun, adopted a dog and cat, then had a baby and have a happy little family.

I met most of his friends on our actual wedding day given most lived in other states or abroad. I met his best friend formally in person, who I had seen on video a few times, at our wedding reception. The guy was hot AF in real life, especially in a suit. King George level hot. To this day, my husband teases me about how I turned into an 8 y.o. schoolgirl that day because of the hot and charming friend. I don't love my husband any less, I still think the friend is hot, still blush when he's around.

This idea that Fran and John's marriage is now "less-than" just because Fran is taken aback or even struck by another hot person seems like an opinion only someone who's never been in a real relationship could hold.

I also see comments about how Violet maybe falling for/dating someone violates that her love for Edmund was true. What?? If you're widowed and you meet someone else and fall in love, what does that have to do with your former marriage?? Do people actually believe you should just sit alone without romantic companionship again? If that's what a widow wants to do, okay, that's fine, but if not, why does that make her last love any less real or meaningful?

After a couple rewatches, I love Portia Featherington. She’s incredible. Sure, she’s got some unsavoury traits and she’s not super kind to Penelope, but that’s a strong ass woman! And I refuse to be upset that she stole from rich people to keep her place in society for the sake of her daughters. It’s not like she’s allowed to work to earn that money!

She had a deadbeat husband, who turned into a dead husband who gambled away their entire fortune, then did her best to find her eldest two daughters marriages that would at least keep them comfortable, while trying to keep her family afloat, and dealing with all the judgement of the whole ton. Also the way she taught her daughters about sex had me rolling.

After S03, I don't blame RJP for leaving, and I won't blame Jon or Simone or anyone else leaving it either

I don't think I like the show anymore.

They've ruined it.

From ruining that beautiful true love between Franny and John, the absence of a character for Lady Mary, no consequences for getting frizzy with debutantes, unnecessary subplots, absence of main character siblings at important family events in a family that's supposedly very closeknit, to outright modern makeup and dresses in regency era. Only thing missing was a Starbucks cup.

I still love some parts of it. Like the Featheringtons, Eloise, Bridgertons at large really, The Queen, Lady Danbury.

But other than that, the show is horrible with mediocre plots and overhyped romance, especially S03.

Downvote me as much as you want, but the fact is that it doesn't even feel like Bridgerton anymore but rather a SNL skit. The show is ruined.

Is anyone sick of the discourse about women’s bodies on this show?

I was reading a post the other day criticizing Phoebe for not being curvy enough, then there’s all the hit pieces on Nic. Both are gorgeous women. Nic looks like a literal goddess in her skims campaign.

The men I speak with all find different bodies and women attractive, and this show is really about the female gaze anyway.

Ok, end rant.

Colin didn’t know

Since season 1, I’m like how did Colin not know that Pen loved him. Mostly because we as the audience are immediately let in on this secret. It takes an outsider (Marina) who truly sees Pen to be able to figure it out, outside of Pen’s head.

Upon rewatch I try to be more understanding of that cause I’m like why is everyone so surprised? But the more I watched this current season I’m like wow, she’s so unnoticed, even by Colin in seasons one and two. Like there are times this season where she is hanging out by a wall I don’t even realize she is there.

I think Cressida was just talking shit to Debling and maybe she thought Colin had the feels but didn’t feel like she knew Pen did. That’s why I think Debling is the first person to think Pen has feelings. He actually pays attention to her.

Even Mama B just knew about Colin’s. She wasn’t like Pen is in love with you too you dope. She just hoped it.

In conclusion I now accept he’s not a dummy for not knowing or even questioning it later.

Here are some places I’m like maybe he would have figured out she loved him???

Ep 1: glitching when she said she can’t him whispering in his ear

Ep 2: Eyes with the most remarkable shade of blue. The hand cut. The kiss (except maybe not since she runs away so fast

Ep 3: The balloon intensity. The eye fucking prior to the dance. Not the Willow Tree. Feels like she dismisses him here.

Ep 4: Carriage which could be horny times vs. love.

5 he should have figured it out. That’s just his insecure boi coming out.

Thoughts?

S3 Colin was written SO badly in terms of him and Penelope.

S3 Colin was written SO badly in terms of him and Penelope.
false

Before anyone comes for me, I'm NOT saying that Penelope wasn't good enough for him because of her looks, personality, Whistledown (which imo she got off lightly) etc. so don't be toxic pls. This is just about Colin and how he was portrayed this season.

If my memory serves me right (its been a like a month and a half since I watched the first part of S3😭) Pen liked Colin for literal ages, while Colin only realised his love for her this season. Now of course we got some foreshadowing from Pen's side not only in the previous seasons where we could clearly see that she liked him. On Colin's side obviously he didn't like her like that before but imo I feel like there wasn't enough of a build up of his emotions.

I believe there was a scene where he dreamt of her and then we got a couple(?) scenes of him being jealous at a ball or something like that (feel free to correct me on that), before they were thrown into the carriage scene. I understand it was supposed to be really fast-paced on his side as opposed to her long standing love for him but I really couldn't help feeling that it felt kind of disingenuous.

Compared to the previous seasons and QC I def their chemistry could have been better and it seems SO one sided on Pen's part for a great part of S3. Charlotte and George had the best chemistry imo and S1 and S2 of Bridgerton were pretty good too (even if Daph and Simon had the occasional awkward "did you touch yourself", like HUH?).

But idk how to feel about S3 it feels almost dull and that it didn't do Pen and Colin justice especially after Pen was revealed to be Lady Whistledown to the ton she got off REALLY lightly just because of QC and it felt rushed after that. I dont even want to talk about the episode epilogue because I hate that the time skip was at the end of the last episode instead of at the start of the first episode of the next season. I know the same thing happened with Daphne at the end of S1 but it made so much more sense because it was a major plot point for her and Simon, whereas in Polin's case I would rather have wanted to see more of their married life and discussing kids. (Although I know the new Lord Featherington was a plot point it feels kind of void and null after Pen and Colin got married. Of course Colin has no title so it still matters but idk it just felt too rushed.)

Obviously I could be wrong and maybe I need a rewatch but thats just my two cents 🤷‍♀️.

One of my breaking points of season 3

One of my breaking points of season 3
false

This season had a lot of “I don’t even want to watch anymore.” But the thing that almost made me turn the show off was when Prudence said “We are pregnant” instead of “We are with child.”

I know, maybe im being dramatic and nitpicking, but that just irritated me so much because it just showed how lazy the writers had gotten with the historical accuracy. From the 2016 instagram baddie makeup to the acrylic nails and now this? It just ticked me off so bad.

It’s more so the principle of the situation. Like, the term “pregnant” used to be a vulgar term back then… and it just seems like whoever wrote this season didn’t do their research or just didn’t bother to. Cause that was just not it at all.

Edit: Okay, I got the person who said it wrong. Prudence said it not Kate, but my point still stands tbh.
