Free Tools!

I use most of these tools on a daily basis and can't recommend them enough.

  • VSCode Visual Studio Code is a streamlined code editor with tons of plugins for scripting and automation.

  • Dehydrated Auto-renews all Let's Encrypt certificates in your environment (was a huge headache before using this tool - you may relate if you had to manage over 100 SSL certificates with internal/external CAs).

  • Secure Shell (Chrome Extension) Secure Shell Client (SSH) for Google Chrome (made by Google) is very handy on a remote computer or when you don't have permission to install apps.

  • Network Analyzer (Android) It can help you diagnose various problems in your WiFi network setup (signal meter, LAN scanner, Ping & traceroute, Port Scanner, etc.).

  • Solarwinds IP Address Tracker Scans, tracks, and manages IP addresses and provides detailed IP histories and event logs.

  • Clonezilla open-source tool designed to clone disks and individual hard disk partitions, as well as facilitate system backup and disaster recovery.

  • Temp Mail Temp email for signup/free trials or not trusted websites.

  • Free Carrier Lookup Checks a phone number's carrier name and whether the number is wireless, VoIP, or landline.

  • Wireshark  is the world’s foremost and most widely-used network protocol analyzer.

  • Scientific Calculator (Chrome Extension) A scientific calculator for Google Chrome (open source) with no ads and no access permissions needed on Chrome.

  • Squoosh An amazing web app that compresses images and reduces their size by 90% without losing quality. It's like magic (open source, made by Google Chrome Labs).

  • TCP Port Scanner with Nmap detects open TCP ports, running services (including their versions), and does OS fingerprinting on a target IP address or hostname.

Not free, but has a free trial and great value for the price:

  • Conferfly Conference Room Software - works on any computer and supports all major platforms (Teams, Meet, Zoom, Webex, Chime), with excellent wireless screen sharing and whiteboard features. (a great alternative to costly conference room hardware that becomes outdated quickly).

  • Appetize Phones (iPhone & Android) in the browser emulator. A great, secure way to test apps, websites, and networks on different versions of the OS before releasing them to everyone.

My PC stays in a dust-rich environment. I got an air blower on AliExpress to clean it, but it's having no effect. I think the blower is too weak. Do you guys recommend a better way to deal with dust build up in the case?

I do not learn new technology anymore. I spend more of my time passing around messages, with little time devoted to learning new systems.

Is this all IT jobs, or am I just getting f***ed in the ass here. WFH is great, but I don't know how much more of this I can take.
