It was Mary’s responsibility to make sure Kate is taken care of first, before Edwina!

Kate literally lost both her bio parents! If you’re as “loving” a step mom as you’re portraying then Mary should’ve taken up the responsibility to get Kate settled first instead of just simply accepting the fact that Kate won’t ever settle. It was her responsibility, and Mary is just so annoying for the way she blames things on Kate. It’s very intolerable.

Edit: wanted to add the importance of your mother’s bangles. Her bio mom gave her bangles, it’s an important heirloom among Indians, equivalent to having your mom’s wedding ring. Poor thing gave it away happily to Edwina, how could they doubt her.

Edit2: also the way Edwina made Kate a villain?? Like girl? Kate gave up everything to make sure you have a good life, the sarcastic passive aggressive remarks are so annoying.

Am I the only one who wishes there was more buildup in Penelope and Colin's love story?

Don't get me wrong, I love Bridgerton Season 3, but I just feel like it could have more buildup in the romance between Penelope and Colin. In all honesty, I feel like there has been a more proper buildup in Franchesca's love story.

Why were scenes seemingly out of order? Night scenes in between two scenes at the same party etc.

Especially this seemed to happen with Benedict. Like when they randomly put ten second scenes of him having a threesome in between daytime scenes.

If I spent time and money planning my kid’s wedding reception only to have someone come in and kick everyone out so that she could spend 5 minutes in conversation with my family before just bouncing again.

“Sorry about all that wasted food. And a ruined party. And all your disappointed guests. I just stopped in real quick to see if one of you was feeling like confessing to being Lady Whistledown. No? Ok, well bye then.”

I’m so tired of the Queen and all her bullshit.

Colin was Julia Quinn's Favorite

I recently finished On The Way To The Wedding which is Gregory's story so I have finished all eight books of the Bridgerton series and what I noticed is that Colin made a cameo in all books apart from the fourth which is his story. It is very obvious that Colin was Julia's favorite brother and it's hilarious because there are moments in some of the books where Colin shouldn't even be there but Julia shoves him in there for the fun of it 🤣

Where's Waldo: Colin during the Butterfly Ball edition

There are so many people at the Butterfly Ball that it's a bit hard to track where people are. There aren't many overhead shots, so it's also tricky to map out. I keep finding myself trying to find Colin, so here's what I've been able to figure out.

Brimsley, the entryway door, and the butterfly cages serve as helpful anchor points.

We start with Pen and her mother, standing opposite the butterfly cages. The Bridgertons have not arrived yet.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-7fjatuy5zr9d1.png

At approx. 49 mins, the Bridgertons arrive, and Colin scans the room somewhat anxiously, looking for Pen. It appears he's right across the room from her, if the butterfly cages are behind him (which are on either side of the entrance):

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-w6ilqhuskr9d1.png

One dance is already underway, and the next starts. Then, the Queen arrives. Colin thus may not have had time to get across the room. (For a variety of storyline and Psychos/Eros myth reasons he can't be physically next to her, but we'll hold that aside for a moment.)

The next shot we get of Colin is when his the Queen arrives. He looks ready for battle.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-ojztn5nanr9d1.png

Can we just appreciate how well his waistcoat coordinates with Pen's dress?! Clearly, they discussed this. Violet mutters something to Colin. She clearly knows what's going on.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-jpun62a1nr9d1.png

The Queen announces she got a letter from the scribe herself. Audio caption: "Colin's burning gaze fixes on Penelope." You got this, babe.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-ylfxbqa0or9d1.png

Eloise is shocked, so she likely had no idea:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-8zylyywrls9d1.png

When Pen first starts to speak, there's a shot over Colin's shoulder. Colin is in a dark blue shirt, so based on the angle, these are likely shots of him looking at her from his perspective.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-mb82spqsfs9d1.png

More Colin's POV:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-bkki3zq4gs9d1.png

She glances directly at him:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-vdsdeseegs9d1.png

PEN: ...Regardless of the outcome, one always has worth.

Audio description: "She locks eyes with Colin, and he smiles softly, and gives an encouraging nod."

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-2vq0q3s2sr9d1.png

When Pen says that, she seems to have Brimsley standing behind her, which places Colin a few column sections over from where she had been standing earlier.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-2u4tbhnoqr9d1.png

So based on that angle, he is approximately here, just to the right of the entrance, which matches where he was standing earlier. (update: he's a few rows back -- good eyes u/Honest_Scot3005!)

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-8iy5qp75es9d1.jpg

Yet another Colin POV shot, right before she gestures to the Queen:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-bfe979bkgs9d1.png

The Queen leaves. Audio description: "Colin nods, his eyes still on his wife."

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-027ityphsr9d1.png

It isn't until the butterflies are released that we see clearly where he and Violet are —all the way in the back in that corner to the right (i.e. West) where she came from. So Colin and Violet are literally in her corner:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-0bk4ard3tr9d1.jpg

As people swarm the stage, Colin seems to be walking along the perimeter of the room in the direction of Eloise and Francesca, clapping:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-vmapa8hxtr9d1.jpg

In this earlier shot, you can see Eloise and Fran to the left of the butterfly cages on the left-hand side of the door. Alice Mondrich is right over Pen's shoulder, and Lady Danbury to her left:

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-wed71px2hs9d1.png

Aside from Eros/Psyche reasons why Pen needs to talk to Lady Danbury (aka Demeter, giver of rebirth) and her mother, Aphrodite, perhaps Colin needed to talk to Eloise and Francesca and fill them in, as based on reactions when the Queen arrived, it seems like Violet was the only one in the family who was aware of what was going to happen.

We then see Colin again, coming from the part of the room where Eloise and Francesca were.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-kmuq5byvur9d1.png

And then they're back together for Colin's second love confession.

https://preview.redd.it/wheres-waldo-colin-during-the-butterfly-ball-edition-v0-pdnyq5uhyr9d1.png

And of course, Colin and Pen end their night together, on the dance floor.

Future Seasons Prediction - Cheating

The thing about Shonda shows is that though wildly addictive - they’re also predictable. They start off super good the first two or three seasons and then tend to jump the shark. They always try to top the drama of before.

That’s why I think in the next season we’ll see an adultery storyline. Shonda characters can’t just be happy - that’s too boring. Plus this new ahowrunner seems the type to want to shake things up.

I hope I’m wrong but I knew when I got into this show Shonda shows were gonna Shonda and I’d probably end up being disappointed by how a favorite ship’s story line would go.

Colin “my family” Bridgerton

One moment that really stood out to me as a “everything will be alright moment” was when Pen and Portia came to tell Colin about the blackmail.

Portia had said that this situation will cause Colin to ask for an annulment as she really doesn’t understand how much Colin loves Pen.

Colin’s line of “if Miss Cowper spreads this gossip it will besmirch our Bridgerton name” And then he points to Portia and says “the entire family”.

I love that because there’s no doubt that Colin would ever want to leave Pen and he wants to look out for everyone. Bridgertons and Featheringtons. They are his family now. This is where I think it finally sinks in for Portia too that this is a love match as she’s so relieved that Colin isn’t immediately running for the hills at the blackmail news.

So many great moments this season but this one stands out after every rewatch. 😊
