The 4080 super is absolutely nuts

I've been a lifelong console gamer but recently made the jump to PC. Invested a decent chunk of change into a high end build, and.... boy oh boy.

All of the games in my library run ultra or max settings, at 5k sub-4k resolution.

I'm playing on an odyssey g9 49 inch monitor and it feels like I'm actually in the game.

I loaded up battlefield V and just spent like 10 minutes oogling over the little flecks and stuff on my gun, and the way the water rippled and waved.

I'm thinking about buying RDR2 on the steam sale, even though I've beat it on the ps5, and just taking a ride through the country side to admire everything.

So how did Crysis manage to look so good for its time?

Because it’s just that I was looking back at the evolution of PC gaming itself from the old days of the PS3, like when HD technology was still was very new in 2007, and it’s just that I have been trying to figure out how a game like Crysis managed to look so beautiful way back then.

I mean, sure the game was released at least 15 years ago, but I can recall like it was yesterday when that game was so hyped up again all because of its then cutting edge technology it used at the time, which makes me wonder just how the game managed to pull it off at a time when there weren’t many games like it that could push the limits of what systems were capable of back then.

Preparing to let go of a potentially vindictive sys admin

I am working in a consulting capacity with a small MSP. They have a senior sys admin who has worked with them since 20008 and now works remote in another state. Over the course of time, this employee has become less cooperative and responsive. He has had a number of personal and health issues that has not helped the situation. Under ordinary circumstances, this employee would have been let go many years ago, however, he basically holds the keys to the kingdom to an application that he helped design and run for the owner for another business venture over this same long time period. Over the course of the last 6 months (behind the scenes) this application has been rebuilt and tested and a cutover date has been set. This is the date the sys admin in question will also be let go. The biggest concern is that this employee is not very stable and could try to sabotage this companies systems or even a client. There is a fairly good chance he sees this coming. He is highly intelligent but I would say equally highly unstable.

We have several months to prepare for this. Besides the obvious things - changing passwords, disabling accounts, MFA, etc...are there any other recommendations for things to look out for? What would be the best scanner for potential RAT tools he could have installed. Has anyone else had to go through this? Has anyone ever had a former employee actually try to do anything?
