With the Met gala coming up, I’ve been thinking about fashion icons and I will never understand how Anna Wintour rose to prominence in the way she has. She is the most boring woman alive and her create vision makes American vogue look cheap. All of her outfits follow the same main themes, without any creative twists to them.
How she manages to be the editor in chief at vogue, I will never know. There are a million more talented people I can think of that would service that role much better.
Just the most boring “fashion icon” of all time.
Edit: I see a lot of people saying that her job is to generate revenue and nothing more. This second bulletin point is incredibly relevant to the field of fashion. She needs to have a vision for the design, that is her job. Her clothing is more of a pet peeve for me, but it illustrates the lack of creativity I feel her publications have.

The time has come IMO for Anna Wintour to step down from her top spot at Vogue, her vision of fashion has grown to be tired and uninteresting. Between the beige debacles of the MET gala and then this underwhelming September cover, she has demonstrated yet again she would rather look backwards to the 90s instead of to the future and beyond- I want new blood and excitement fashion and the world has changed so much since 1988- quit clutching the top and give someone else a shot.
