Best sounding cheap alto saxophone?

I used to play alto in school and have recently wanted to get back into it. I haven't played in a few years, so I was wondering which one should I look into. I don't want to spend too much right now for many reasons, but also because I feel like I'd have to relearn some things. I hope y'all can help. Thanks in advance.

How do you use alto saxophone for metal songs?

Hello

Its my first time posting here. I wanted to know how do you use saxophone for the metal music. I don't have paticular metal subgenres in mind, but Im asking more generaly. I know how saxophone sounds and how metal music sounds. And you never know how would they sound like together. To me exactly. I want to know how would saxophone sound if it played metal song and/or how would saxophone be incorporated into it.

To note I don't have any saxophone playing experience, but I've always wanted to learn it. But dunno if I can because of my financial situation.

So nonethenless How would be saxophone been played in metal music genre?

Thank you for reading.

Cheers.

A good alto saxophone for a doubler

I'm looking for a decent alto right now, but now looking to break my bank. Bad combo, i know. But I'm a bassoon major and i do low reed work a lot. But i want to get an alto to diversify my range.

I've looked at Jean Paul and bettersax and Jupiter's and what not. The lower end yamahas don't really do it for me. It seems like I'm not getting much for the price. I'd say my budget is <1500

Improve Alto Saxophone

I currently own a Havana Alto Saxophone, in India (where Saxophones are so uncommon to the point they barely exists). The Havana Saxophone sounds terrible, and gets problems every 5 minutes. Notes like High A, get muffled. I have to blow hard, and if I do it starts to work, but sounds terrible. If anyone could give me tips on how I can improve tone and play the notes. Keep in mind that I can not spend $100's of dollars on things, and also finding things like Yamaha mouth piece would have to be imported from other places. If someone has idea's like shoving baking-soda down my Saxophone (I don't do that), please let me know.

Looking to rent alto saxophone?

Hi everybody! I’m not a local, but am in town to perform a musical at Magnus theatre and am looking to rent an alto saxophone. I’m wondering if there are any good places in town to do so, or even personal saxes that aren’t in use?

Feel free to comment/pm me if you have any leads. Would greatly appreciate it! I’ve played sax for about a decade and would take great care of it!

Also if there’s a better Thunder Bay subreddit to post this one, lmk

Please let me know any tips or advice for an 11yr old learning alto saxophone for the first time.

I have some questions because everyone around us has advice and opinions for him but none of them play the saxophone.

One friend is arguing that we need to invest in synthetic reeds because my son will go through the cane reeds like crazy. Another says they aren't great because they are restrictive, another says they suck and are terrible.

We can't seem to find a strap that fits him well and doesn't hurt his neck, we got some shoulder strap version and it's a bit too big. Any tips on how to handle this?

My son has to learn his own song by the end of the year and play it for the class as an assignment. Like he has to pick a song he likes and learn to play it. He's thinking something like this - https://youtu.be/QNhzemDjSAM how does one go about learning something like this without sheet music?

He went from drums last year, to saxophone this year, and we are trying to keep up. I did choir through middle and high school, but band in elementary and I never learned how to read music or really play an instrument, though I did well at making and holding a sound, so I only know an insignificant amount about instruments in general.

How can I help him learn and succeed? So far he is extremely happy with the saxophone. I haven't had to remind him once to practice yet, and he talks about it often. Way more than the drums. I really want to help encourage this joy he's found in music and this instrument but I also don't wanna go overboard either.

Any and all helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.
