I’m shocked,irritated and angered by the number of street lights that don’t work in Pretoria. I drive from Pretoria east to centurion daily in the wee hours of the morning and in most streets it would be total darkness if not for the car lights.

I’ve posed this question to the mayor on twitter and the gracious mayor blocked me instead of answering why his team were not attending to the street lights.

How are things in your area ?

I stay away from politics. I never got caught up in the MDC/ZANU-PF fever, even back when our money was losing value by the hour and the rolling blackouts started. The problem is, those blackouts never ended.

I'm not stupid enough to call out Number One (watch the Al Jazeera miniseries "Gold Mafia" for context: ), and I wouldn't expect anyone reading this to respond to Reddit thread that criticizes our executive. For the folks who are robbing our government blind, well, that's another story.

The power shortages we deal with were originally blamed on low water levels at the Kariba Dam hydro plant. The truth is that the government's lack of funding is what's keeping our households dark. That makes criminals who operate with impunity so infuriating. Most of the Gold Mafia crew got exposed by Al Jazeera, but Paul Diamond managed to escape scrutiny.

Make no mistake, Paul Diamond is robbing our government of at least a billion USD every year. We need to pressure the government to act, or at least start collecting the revenue that Mr. Diamond owes. If you're sick of unpredictably losing electricity, our only course of action is giving John Mushayavanhu (head of the RBZ ) an avenue to collect the fortune that Paul Diamond steals from the people of Zimbabwe EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

Watch Gold Mafia (IMDB link that explains Paul Diamond's role: ) and put pressure on your elected officials to collect the money that he is stealing from us. The cash hand-out that was announced yesterday () would not be needed if Paul Diamond paid his fair share.

I don't think there is any substance I can abuse right now to feel like life is worth living so what do you guys do when you are feeling low

My husband and I got married last year, and I was 1 month pregnant at the time. He is a hardworking man but has been having trouble finding a job. Throughout my pregnancy and even after our baby arrived, he made sure I didn't have to cook, clean, or overexert myself. He is currently in the last year of completing his bachelor's degree.

Despite his efforts, our marriage has been under strain lately, and we feel somewhat disconnected. On top of that, my job is really stressful. I wish we could share the financial burden and bills like other couples do. It's tough for me to save money or treat myself to anything special because of all the responsibilities I have.

If I'm being honest, I sometimes feel a bit resentful. I just want us to be able to enjoy life together without always worrying about money and chores. Pia nimejiachilia. I feel. Like this situation has taken a lot from me. I can barely look at myself in the mirror.

Idk why yall call this guy a genius?...The only reason he has been prosecuted and won all those cases is because he has always been in a position of power!!! But manze I am depressed. I have never been depressed before. Juu this has been a horrific week. I know we have won in some ways but at a heavy price.

So I’ve noticed a trend with most women I’ve interacted with, most of them can’t hold a conversation for shit as 80% of the time it follows through with the guy to carry the conversations which can be exhausting if the responses are dull or fruitless.

Has anyone else had this experience is this a woman’s thing or do guys portray this behavior to other ladies

Here to rant , I don't get why people make it seem so bad if you say you're not interested in children or you don't see your self having kids and your cool with it especially as a lady , the first thing they say is" ooh you will one day its just time eventually you'll change your mind" like OMG I hate that is it that bad ?

Hey friends, I’m at a point where social media has become overwhelming for me. I’ve decided to quit social media and will be back on reddit in exactly one year (June 28, 2025) just to update you all on how it’s been going. About four months ago, I quit Instagram and Snapchat, and despite feeling that i was being left behind, I resisted the urges. Now, I’m ready to delete TikTok, Reddit, and Telegram as well. It’s time for me to turn a page and take back control of my life and time. I will not give in no matter how bored i get inshAllah 😄

It has been almost two weeks since we begun this political rift with Ruto. Ruto must go. I feel drained, done and hopeless right now. I understand many of us feel this way especially after seeing that nobody has come to help us even when innocent people are losing their lives. I can’t even imagine half of what people of Congo, Palestine or Sudan feel Or the people in Haiti I’ve never lived in a time of political unrest or dictatorship and I surely don’t want to live under such conditions We have been left alone by the whole world. By safaricom, by our own news outlets, our churches and leaders

During the protests, I was right on the other side of a gun and the man holding it didn’t look like he even thought twice about my life. I’ve never been as scared as I was during the protests

I’ve seen someone’s brains on the floor and a day later a child shot dead under the same culprits orders! How can I even deal with this mental turmoil? Can I do more for my country when I’ve done even more than I thought I could? Our parents seem to be so desensitized to this oppression that they could just tell us tuache tu? Niache nini and I barely have rent? Niache nini and Ruto has a watch that could sort my whole extended family off debts and hospital bills (PLUS make sure we’ve all at least had meals the whole week unlike usual)? This country was already in ashes by the time the Gen Z were becoming adults I’ll keep marching for my country because that’s all I have left. I’ll march still because if I don’t I’ll surely off myself- successfully this time. I’ll keep marching because I’d rather I go with a cause. I’m so sorry if you’ve lost someone I’m sorry if you’ve lost yourself too during this dark time. We will make it out. One way or the other we will Please know that even if Ruto doesn’t love you, I love you Each and every Kenyan except Ruto and his cronies! I love you and we will get to see our true home and live in our true abundance.
