I got into iOS development after Swift was introduced and it’s been the language I’ve used for most of my career. I love Swift and the future looks super bright for it (Async/Await, SwiftUI, etc). I know enough Objective-C to understand and update legacy code, but I’ve never had to write whole apps or even features in it. I was recently offered a job at a large company whose entire codebase is Objective-C and doesn’t plan on migrating. My current role doesn’t pay quite as well, but we use primarily Swift and we’re in the process of adopting new technologies like Combine and SwiftUI. I’m not concerned about my ability to learn Objective-C, but I’m worried that moving “back” to an older language may be a step backwards for my career; especially when so many exciting things are happening in the iOS world with Swift and getting experience with these new frameworks may become very valuable. Should I chase the money and move to a legacy codebase or should I continue to invest in learning new technologies?

Hi, I’m a new grad who just got a SWE job and I recently had a call with my manager where she told me to learn Objective-C before I start. I’ve never really done mobile dev before besides just playing around with Swift on the playground. I’ve noticed that most of the Objective-C tutorials are fairly dated and even the ones on Udemy are for like iOS 8. Is there any modern resources or recommendations to learn Objective-C for someone whose an absolute beginner to mobile development?

Hello everyone.
Recently I started my first commercial iOS developer position and I’m finding myself having to deal with a lot of objective-c code as the app is very old. I would appreciate any recommendations that you found helpful when learning objective-c. I am willing to pay for courses as well. Thanks!
