Question
Hey all! First post here. So I have a base system here that I wanna run Proxmox on. Here are the specs.
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2680 V4 (14C 28T)
RAM: 256GB ECC DDR4
Motherboard: ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME
RAID controller: LSI MegaRaid 927x-8i (pass through to TrueNAS), Dell PERC H730
Boot Drives: 2x 16GB Optanes (Mirrored)
VM Drive: 4x 600GB drives, 1x 600GB cold spare 15k SAS.
TrueNAS drives: 4x 2TB drives, 1x 2TB cold spare WD Purple.
GPUs: GTX960 (for host output, BIOS etc), GTX 1060 (for VMs).
Right here comes the question. I'm planning on putting the VM drives on the PERC card, I am contemplating between using it as a HBA through to Proxmox to use ZFS, or if I should use the built in PERC's RAID-5, since it already came with its backup battery on it. So which should I use?
Second question if ZFS is the answer, should I enable dedup on my ZFS pool? And get a couple more cheap Optanes as the metadata pool?

Hi all, I recently installed and set up proxmox on my computer and I have been running into a difficult to diagnose issue. Proxmox runs fine for about a day and then becomes unresponsive. I tried rebooting, but then proxmox becomes stuck in a loop a few seconds after POST succeeds and reboots itself. I believed this was a hardware issue and tried removing a single RAM stick at a time and other peripherals but it still didn’t work. Eventually I got the idea to reset the BIOS (MSI Pro B760M-A DDR5, has MSI Click BIOS, latest version) and it began working. Does anyone know of any compatibility issues between this BIOS and proxmox? I’m afraid this issue will occur again.
