I’m deeply disappointed that the Liberal party have joined the Nationals to oppose Indigenous constitutional recognition.
They’ve chosen to refuse us the fairness of a Voice.
I’m no less confident that we can succeed - it’s the Australian people who will ultimately decide.

Outstanding result in #Aston. Mary Doyle will be a fantastic advocate for this community in Government. Thanks to our volunteers and young people who were all in, like Mary, in shaping that better future we want.

There’s a story in today’s papers about my daughter, Anna. A few years ago she was the victim of serious crime. Like any parent, I was devastated when I found out.
She has chosen to share her story because it might help someone else. I’m so proud of her.

Labor has gone to the last 2 elections committing to phase out live sheep exports. It’s a key part of the Govt’s plan to strengthen animal welfare. We’re now implementing that commitment. Today, I’ll announce a panel to consult on how & when we should phase out the trade.

I agree w that antivirals should be made more widely available. The restrictions on them, in the face of mounting morbidity of long COVID and post COVID complications are daft in the extreme.

Nothing is more important than having a home to live in. But not to the Greens Party. Their game playing and teaming up with the Liberals to block affordable housing is pathetic and dishonest. #auspol

HEAR: Truth about the Greens Party, whose MPs literally ran out of the chamber, failing to vote for affordable housing.
I stand on my and Labor’s record any day of real action on affordable housing, over the Greens Party dilettante posers. #auspol

BREAKING: Labor’s $10 billion housing fund has just passed the House of Reps in Canberra. But two groups refused to vote for it - Peter Dutton’s LNP and the Greens. Politics builds strange coalitions.

The Greens dealt themselves out of affordable housing yesterday, just as they dealt themselves out of climate solutions in 2009.

Asking indigenous people to be front and centre of the Voice campaign is like asking black people to sort out racism. They have enough to deal with. It’s time the rest of us stepped up. #TheVoice

In #PNG, #cervicalcancer is the 2nd most common cancer in women.
Australian MPs at the learnt of the exciting tools being rolled out and scaled up globally, by orgs such as , to screen and treat women in remote settings and get them on a path to elimination!

The Libs have forgotten their own history on constitutional support for First Nations people. Robert Menzies agreed to the 1967 referendum, Harold Holt (the former Member for Higgins) got it done & John Howard advocated for indigenous recognition in the 1999 referendum.

Gendered violence is a huge issue in PNG and is rooted in the harsh reality that women are not treated as equals. Too many ambulances at the bottom of the cliff when more must be done to educate, empower and give women a political voice. TY for having us.

An honour to be on a multipartisan delegation to PNG focused on health. TB, malaria, HIV, gendered violence, malnutrition… on our doorstep. Despite the odds, the people of PNG push on with what meagre resources they have. We will support them in whatever way we can.
