I (18M) got very lucky and was accepted to Yale with a full scholarship for undergrad, which is where I'll be going in the fall. I also work part-time as a cashier at my local Publix (a southern supermarket). I've had my fair share of interesting people come through my line, but this was the most interesting encounter I've had in a while.
It was late in the evening, and this boomer comes through my line. Polite as she could be (at first). Until she noticed my apron. Cashiers at Publix have to wear aprons so I had affixed to mine a little Y pin on my apron to show some school pride. Edit: my store is right near a college so the students who attend that college will wear pins to show their school pride, hence why I wore a Yale pin.
The lady notices the pin as I’m ringing her up and asks what it’s for and if that's for some trade school or community college. I tell her that I'll be going to Yale in the fall on a full scholarship.
Immediately her demeanor changes and she loudly proclaims that I had made a terrible choice, and that I am going to be indoctrinated. Indoctrinated into what? Who knows! She also proclaimed that she is part of the greatest generation because she wasn't indoctrinated. After I gave her the receipt, she ended with a stern warning not to get involved with the "satanic bones and skull bullshit" and that she was just looking out for me, a random cashier she had just met.
Needless to say, I will be respectfully declining to heed her advice. Funnily enough, that was the third boomer to say something along the lines of that I should turn down Yale or that I was going to be indoctrinated. One of the boomers who told me that was an adjunct professor at a local university.

This happened 6 months ago when I was on the mainland for a year - I'm now back in Hawaii which is home.
I am a boomer, I'm 63. I started working out when I was 19 and haven't stopped. I also move around a lot and have belonged to a lot of gyms. I'm fit or fit looking, have multiple piercings in my ears, wear bracelets, mala beads and have a lot of tatts including on my face (a heart), my hands and my neck. The only point being that I don't blend in with the standard boomer crowd and the contrast has come up a time or two in my life.
So I'm in the locker room and two guys older than me aren't just talking about the upcoming election but really going on and on and on about how great Trump is. I have a practice of not getting in other people's business and until this incident, NEVER speak up - even if someone asks me, I just don't like arguing with people whose minds are fixed.
Anyhow, I really had to fart and these guys were maybe 3' from me and after one guy said how much better Trump is than Biden, I stopped restraining myself and it was loud! The conversation abruptly ended, as you can imagine and I said (ugh, I still can't believe it), "Oh sorry. I just wanted to increase the quality of the conversation."
They glared at me like they wanted to kill me but didn't say a word. A GF of mine said it was because of my size and appearance but I think it was more likely that there is no response to something like that. I felt better physically and emotionally but I do hope to keep my opinions (and farts) to myself in the future.
edit: To those few who have expressed disbelief, I understand. I had 5 minutes of debating with myself as I listened to them droning on before I took action. I'm not a quick wit and almost didn't do it.
To those who have expressed love, thank you! I called one of the women I was seeing at the time and told her about it. She's a very nice woman, VERY kind and sweet and I thought it might gross her out but at the same time, I don't like to pretend. Her response: "OMG right when I thought I couldn't love you more!!" :)
edit-2 I'm but I'm not a hulk or big bikery looking dude; only 165 lbs. of love. And well, the occasional eruption
My girlfriend called me last night around midnight and I was sleeping. She texted me right after saying that her car was out of gas and she needed me to come help her out. I went back to sleep and acted like I didn’t see it.
I know I’m going to get some hate but this has happened twice now. The first time was in the afternoon, and she said that she thought that she could make it. She was 12 minutes from town.
Same thing happened last nice. And no, her gas gauge works just fine.
She’s also locked her keys out of her car, and another time couldn’t start the car (her steering wheel was locked)- that I did help her with as of recently.
Edit: she has AAA, and her parents also live right outside of town

This happened a few years ago right after President Biden became the president.
Background: In-laws both MAGA boomers.
MIL: you need to sell your house quick because by next year, you may not have a house.
Me: oh, why is that?
MIL: Don't you know, Biden and the democrats are going to take all the white peoples houses.
Me: How will the government accomplish that? What government agency will be tasked to execute this presidential order?
FIL: Chimes is and says, "the government will use the police and the military."
Me. You retired as a police officer, do you know of any police officers that would take on such a task? I retired from the military, I don't know of any military personnel that would take a mission like that.
In-laws: well, you just wait and see!
We stopped inviting them over for dinner. The amount of time I have wasted trying to make them think logically makes me sad because I could have accomplished something positive in my life. I am not wasting anymore of my time.

A place to talk about stupid 'deep and meaningful' philosophy found on blogs, tumblr, facebook, reddit, or anywhere else. Insights that people should have outgrown by the time they were 14. Jaden Smith is our patron saint, along with many deep twitter posts.

Videos of heavily exaggerated mouth movements while talking, singing, or lip-syncing. This is not a place to post cringe content or bad lip-syncing. Word chewing looks like Disney animation (Vanellope) or Jim Carey acting, see our pinned post for reference.

Quick and dirty sub for more compoface local press botherers. What is compoface? Generally, a mere picture of people with a funny headline doesn’t cut it. Compoface in a nutshell is “I believe that I have a legitimate grievance and I’m going to stand here looking mildly annoyed while the local press take my picture and I hope that I receive financial COMPensation for my troubles”. Bonus points for frowny faces, crossed arms, pointing at or standing close to the thing that’s caused them woes.

/r/amibeingdetained is a subreddit devoted to showcasing the idiocy and ignorant behaviour of the self-proclaimed [freemen on the land](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemen_on_the_land) and [sovereign citizens](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_citizen_movement). The phrase "Am I being detained?" is a reference to a common catch-phrase used by these movements.

Know someone who constantly preaches goodness and needs everyone to hear about it? How about the ones who are the moral judges of society? This dedicated space curates examples of virtue signalling, slacktivism or hypocrites. We welcome the finest from individuals, public figures, celebrities and even big companies. We want martyrs, slacktivists, humblebrags, two-facedness, self-righteousness, people who make it all about themselves (consciously or not) under the guise of saintliness.

The subreddit dedicated to the one-joke. To simplify the one-joke is a joke used to stereotype trans people and make fun of them. Often it's formatted as, "My pronouns are (Object/Object)", "I identify as (Object)", "Did you just assume my gender", and similar. Not all jokes regarding to trans people are the one-joke. The one joke does not have to be malicious and can also be satirical and funny at times
