We decided to watch Infinity Pool even though he said it was panned. All I knew about it was that it took place at a resort, and told him as much.
He appeared to be quite confused while watching the movie. Halfway through, he started saying, "I don't think this is the movie I thought it was." At one point I turned to him and said, "I knew that was gonna happen," with regards to a minor plot point, and he was genuinely surprised. "Did you really?"
Afterwards, he told me he thought it was supposed to be a critically panned movie about a swimming pool that kills people. Turns out he was thinking of ! The whole time we were watching the movie, he sat there wondering when and how the killer pool was gonna come in.
When Mia Goth's character's husband told the backstory about the infinity pool accident that collapsed and killed two people. He was convinced when they went to the boss's mansion, surely he would have a pool there and that's where Alexander Skarsgård and the other resort-goers would fall victim to the killer pool.
