I like to get in the world of 3d printing after being a lurker for a long time. Would love to hear what would you do differently if you could start over again? I am not looking for purchase advice about a specific model but generic purchase advice such as which criteria to go for would be great. What not to waste my time with? What software is the one holy grail (like Home Assistant is for home automation)?
Edit: clarification.

So I'm the designer of the pass through objects/ fidgets things you might have seen recently. They were inspired by the Stlflix design and I've been quite open about this and mentioned it in the model description.
I really liked the design and wanted to try it, so set out and after several interations I had a design I really like. I've designed them all myself and modelled them from the ground up.
Someone made a copyright claim against the most popular design.
Maker world have quickly deleted the model, and removed all boosts and points gained from it
I appealed the decision, based on it being my model, i stated the design is different, and this is my model. I sent them screenshot from the cad with the design history shown and put trust in there review process.
after 3 days they rejected the appeal stating I've broken the original models license terms. Which confuses me alot.
My Design
Copyright claim design
Anyone got any advise on what I can do? I'm pretty worried that anyone can just make a claim and have models taken down like this.
