Which movies do you think are, borderline defining, of the horror genre, yet they are the most probable to have slipped from your typical "horror afficionado"?
For example, my favorite subgenre is found-footage, but I only recently discovered "Hell House LLC", which I can safely say is a great representative of the genre.
What are your picks that you believe are almost unanimously considered great horror films, but have probably evaded many horror fans, due to distribution/release timing/language e.t.c.?

The disappearance of a young boy sparks a chain of events leading the residents of the small town of Hawkins to uncover a government conspiracy and a supernatural mystery which will not only shatter all semblance of normality, but also threaten their very existence.
I think Eddie is overrated. I have seen a lot of people very heartbroken over him when he died, but personally I wasn’t really that attached to him. He’s a good character, but he’s not a favorite of mine. Anyone else have any unpopular opinions?

NYC is pretty sexy since it’s so gay but Hotel just has the edge for me. Not even sure why, just the actors and the atmosphere and the hotel itself are a delicious blend of Lust and sin

i think im gonna go jump off a bridge or walk into traffic maybe hmmm anyone else got any fun ideas on how to deal with the pain that ep7 will inevitably cause?
I dabble in film/tv writing and I wanted to check out the pilot script for the show and...it's of course amazing, but I was surprised at how explicit it was. And I don't mean violence-wise. Like it had me wondering if Rolin Jones has an account on AO3 kinda explicit hahah.
My jaw was visibly hanging open when I got to the scene of Lily/Lestat/Louis. None of this to say it's a BAD thing, but let's just say they really toned down that scene when they filmed it. I also love seeing the thinking behind what made it to screen or what didn't.
If you haven't checked it out - give it a read! It's fun to see how certain characters read on page vs. seeing how they bring it to life.
Edit:
Rewatching from season 1 and it's such a shame he never got one for S1, and isn't in S2 enough to get one.
