A reminder that Ubisoft will shut down servers for 15(!) games on September 1st. Including Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassins Creed 2, Anno 2070 and Far Cry 3

Just in case you have not noticed before. These games will shut down next week on THURSDAY.

Now is your last chance to play the cooperative or multiplayer modes for these games. After that they will be shut down FOREVER.

Learn more about this here: https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/gameplay/article/decommissioning-of-online-services-september-2022/000102396

This shut down does not "only" include cooperative/multiplayer modes, but dlc that was bought and has no relevancy in multiplayer.

For example all dlc guns or outfits you might "own" in Splinter Cell Blacklist will become locked or impossible to unlock in the future from that day.

If you're on PC, this ALSO includes the huge expansions for Assassins Creed 3, meaning if you want to play them you HAVE to play the inferior "remaster". Does not matter if you bought the season pass back then for 30 bucks, it is now officially worthless!

An interesting side note is: The game servers for Blacklist and Far Cry 3 are hosted on your computer, which means everything the Ubisoft servers are doing is storing data like weapon unlocks - This means they cost Ubisoft substantially fewer resources to run, to the point where it's almost nothing.

Another thing to note is that ALL previous Splinter Cell and Far Cry games had LAN support, which lets you and your great-great-great-grand children play them for all eternity.

To me this is another reminder to not support companies like this. The same thing will happen to ALL other Ubisoft games. These games are not even 10 years old and are being permanently killed.

According to this logic, The Division will shut down in 2026, The Crew in 2024, and Skull And Bones in 2032 - Never ever to be played again.

And even if they do not, they WILL shut down once Ubisoft stops profiting off them, no matter how much money you spent, no matter how much you love them.

Finally, an obligatory link to this video everyone should watch that cares about game preservation "Games as a service" is fraud.

Hey peoples, i've been thinking of trying Anno 2070 but with the whole DLC no longer accessable after September, im wondering if the base game is good enough for replay ability? Like ive been playing 1800 and 1404 on and off, amazing games, So really the question is, should i get 2070 or should i just go straight to 2205 to satisfy my itch for modern/scifi anno?

Is it worth it to buy Anno 2070 anymore (in 2023) ?

Hello Anno-ers.

I want to buy Anno 2070 as a gift for my proffesor (He told me he played civilization, so I guess he likes rts games).

At first I wanted to buy Anno 1800, but it requires Ubisoft launcher and will probably lag on his laptop.

If I buy Anno 2070 physical copy, will it require online activation to play the game ?

Does the game require you to be online at all times in order to give you some buff and other options in game ? (thats what i read on a steam post called " Full Offline - Including ARC features ")

Will the game work without problems on windows 10 or it will require some updates ?

Thanks in advance to all gamers that are willing to answer my questions.

All needs are fulfilled, only faction specific biuldings can be built (so only tycoon eco biuldings for tycoons, only Research Eco biuldings for techs)

I would go with techs, even though there would be a bigger Problem with a limited power amount since the only land power building is the hydroelectric and later the Power Transmitter.

Availability of Anno 2070 servers

Hello.

It so happened that I live in russia. I did not choose where I was born and against aggression. I bought the game a long time ago, because I really love this setting and I was pleased with the presence of social functions that require an Internet connection. This morning my launcher offered to check the game files and I happily thought that it was already September 7th and I could dive into the new update.

But the new update has bypassed me. I do not know what is this. This is a mistake, these are sanctions or something else. To eliminate the error, I completely reinstalled the game. I don't have mods. Absolutely clean version. But social functions are completely disabled, the ark does not work for me, etc. The game is not connecting to the server.

What should I do?

Sincerely, Vitaly.

Anno 2070 Can't connect to server on startup

Anno 2070 Can't connect to server on startup

Hi everyone, I'm returning to 2070 after quite a long time, and I encounter this error every time I open the game.

When I start the game, it stays on the login screen for a while then fails back to "Connection to server lost" and displays the offline mode banner in the top left.

What I've tried:

- Reinstalling the game

- Updating Windows

- Port forwarding as according to this

- deleted and reinstalled any app related to Ubisoft connect

- Disabling Windows firewall

- Disabling windows defender

-Disabling Xbox Game Bar

Observations:

-This is the Steam version of the game, and whenever I validate files it says 2 files failed to validate. Once the download for those finishes, running file validation again gives the same result. Maybe those are config files that aren't related, though.

-All my attempts to connect have been made in the past 30 hours, so if the servers are down for maintenance, I guess that would be the easiest solution

-The game launches fine and even gets through activating all the DLC; the initial server connection fails.

EDIT: I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM

I didn't wanna leave this post unanswered in case someone else has this unusually specific problem, so here we go.

  1. go to the roaming folder (%APPDATA% in the search bar)

  2. navigate to Ubisoft > Anno 2070 > Config

  3. Open the Engine.ini file, and scroll down the the 8th line from the bottom, labelled PORT

  4. change the number (should be 3074) to + or - 1. I made it 3075, and now the game has no problem connecting.

EDIT 2:

Aaaaand it stopped working as soon as it got restarted. back to square one?

LAST EDIT:

Based on what I did and some advice from the comments here, my original fix did seem to work however it's inconsistent although that may just be the anno servers not being very communicative. thank you to the people that tried to help :)

Anno 2070 Fan Remaster

Greetings captains of the arks. In light of recent news, I would like to ask the community if it is worth starting work on a fan-made remaster of the game? I have already tested improving textures, models and maybe shaders. What do you think about this idea and what aspects of the game need improvement, if at all?
