Alfred Blue

I'm having a lot of trouble placing this guy's value after hearing reddits fantasy alarm and getting him in both my leagues. Anyone care to enlighten me about this dude?

Being a Lion's fan, I'm all too familiar with having a bunch of different running backs on the team that serve vastly different purposes (or at least, how the coaches use them in that regard). If Foster is out, is it safe to assume Alfred Blue will get the bulk of the carries? If so, where does that leave Chris Polk? I see he's being projected a decent amount of points in many leagues. Is he more of a 1-2 down running back, or is he their 3rd down check down type of back? Never watched either of them play.

Blue will likely be getting the majority of the carries tomorrow. PHI has a reputation for being a good run defense but their last 6 week performances say otherwise. Over that time they have given up an average of 178 yards and 1.7 TDs. On blue’s 3 starts without Miller he has gotten 28, 14, and 25 touches. The con is PHI may be getting 2 starting defenders back from injury to their front 7. It will be interesting to see where experts place him tomorrow morning.

"The Houston Chronicle believes Arian Foster (groin) and Alfred Blue will "likely share carries" if Foster is active Sunday."

"Foster did participate in Wednesday's practice, tentatively putting him on track to suit up against the Bengals Sunday. We're a bit surprised to hear chatter about a timeshare, as Foster has carried the rock at least 20 times in all six games he's been able to finish this year. That said, Blue is coming off a rugged 36-156-0 outing in a win and it's possible the Texans want to protect Foster from these recurring soft-tissue injuries. We'd expect something like a 75-25 split Sunday."

Anyone who drafted Miller is aware of how poor he has performed for fantasy so far this year. Given the opportunity with Foreman out until week 7 expectations were much higher.

Weeks 1 to 4.

Week 1 Miller out touched Blue 21-5 (81%)

Week 2 Miller out touched Blue 16-7 (69%)

Week 3 Miller out touched Blue 15-5 (75%)

Week 4 Miller out touched Blue 14-13 (52%)

You started seeing in the 4th Q of the Week 3 games vs. the Giants Miller was benched for a few drives in the 4th quarter after a fumble. He returned and ended up with a garbage time TD salvaging the week. However by week 4, you say Blue in the game more, even when they had a lead on Indy in the 2nd half. 4 week's Miller Averaged: 56.25 yards / game on 14.5 carries a game.

Sunday Night Blue posted a line as good as any of Miller's games this year.

20 carries, 46 yards. (2.3 y/a) 8 targets, 8 receptions 73 yards. (9.1 y/r)

So game script may have dictated the increased rushing attempts for Blue, but Blue always has been the better pass catching back. While the 2.3 yards is poor, and below Miller's average for the year, the 73 reception yards is better than Miller's 54 for the year, and 8 receptions matches Miller's 8 receptions on the year.

It's clear the offensive line is in the bad/terrible range. Ranked 31st by PFF (prior to this week.)

All that being said now you need to throw Foreman into the mix. What is your expectations for the backfield starting week 7. Who is the one to own, who is the one to stash and who is the one to drop?

Since Arian foster is for the year does this make blue a top ten player since that's where foster was?

Asking for opinions on Blue because I haven't had the benefit of seeing him play.

He's RB1 first few weeks for Texans, or more if Foster takes longer to come back. Texans offense is run-heavy (sometimes by necessity). He goes very deep in the draft.

Is he a better late RB pickup than say Joique Bell, Sankey or any of the other RB1s threatened by depth?

What are the pros and cons of Alfred Blue? He had a few good carries against Atlanta. I'm feeling him as a near end pick.

With Arian's hammy perpetually on the mend and the Texans facing a shaky Dallas D how would you rate Blue this week and for the ROS? Do you think that if Arian would happen to miss a good deal of time then Blue would be in a time share with Grimes?
