Bangladesh bring up 100

Bangladesh have brought up their 100 but have struggled to lift the run rate after losing three quick wickets to Australia spinners Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell.

Zampa claims another wicket!

Adam Zampa claimed his second wicket as Bangladesh unsuccessfully attempted to lift the run rate. Their most dangerous batsman, Shanto, was leg before wicket attempting to sweep for 41 from 36 balls.

Daniel Bretting’s early view

Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell used masterful variations in pace to claim wickets in successive overs. Neither spinner is a big turner of the ball in anything other than extremely helpful conditions, but they each have excellent sleight of hand when it comes to generating a miscue. Zampa offered Litton Das a slower, classical leg break to drive before firing in a faster ball that fizzed through to the stumps via the thigh. Maxwell then produced a delivery not dissimilar to the one that deceived Rohit Sharma in last year’s World Cup final, messing with the timing of Rishad Hossain and coaxing an edge well held by Zampa at short third.

Hazlewood goes for six!

In contrast to Hazlewood’s maiden first over, Najmul Hossain Shanto charged the first ball of the fast bowlers second over and launched it back over the bowler’s head. Shanto’s 13 from nine balls contrasted with Litton Das, who had two from 12 balls.

Hazlewood starts with as maiden

Josh Hazlewood was his typical metronomic self bowling the second over of Bangladesh’s innings. Every ball was tight around off-stump, preventing Litton Das from getting off the mark.
