Here’s some sage advice that I can pass along through both observation and experience:
Do not ever be the only IT person in an organization, no matter how large or small or your life has the potential to be complete Hell.
Kid wants an IT job. Company needs an IT Bob. Hires kid. Doesn’t hire anyone else. Kid becomes overwhelmed and wants to quit IT AND die before he hits 25.
Guy leaves big company because he’s tired of not being appreciated by his dept. Takes only IT job at another company because he “can have more control over his job.” Eventually loses control of his job.
Small company has one IT person doing everything. Company folds. IT person only knows how to do everything specific for that company and nothing else except general tasks. Can’t get work elsewhere because of lack of knowledge.
Don’t do it. It’s not worth the pain.

One of our sites went down when our ISP shit the bed with major outages this week. The tech the ISP sent to work on their router decided that the cause of the outage wasn't part of the larger issues where uncounted numbers of their customers lost service. They decided that our UPS was bad so they plugged the router into a powerstrip plugged into the wall...
The site doesn't really have anyone with the computer specific technical know-how beyond loading the printer, so I got tapped to go out and confirm. 75 mile drive out there, power cycle the UPS, test the plugs and it's working fine. Plug the router back in, check the connectivity, 75 mile drive back.
I may be just an intern at the moment, but I feel like this feels like a rite of passage. Or maybe I'm just telling myself that to not feel like I wated my day.
