A new lgbtq terrace house?!

Hi guys! I was shocked to see that there was a newly added japanese reality tv show on Netflix as I was rewatching the past episodes of terrace house. If you are interested/curious/missed terrace house I think this show is pretty similar to the setup of the previous terrace house obviously with a lot of differences as well.

No spoilers but so far this is the gist of the show; 6 gay men are to live together for 1 month while they try to manage a coffee truck together. As they stay in the house and manage the coffee truck business, they try to find love within the group. So this is more of a dating show rather than just seeing people living with each other. I was also happy to see that there are still hosts who discuss during the episodes, one of which is Tokui from the past terrace house program (still rly funny).

What are your guys’ thoughts on this? Is this similar/better/worse that terrace house?

Terrace House dillema.

In a friend group it was me, antagonist and two people. Somehow the conversation went to reality shows, i said japan has a great one terrace house. Antagonist replies ''the one with the girl who commits suicide''. The two people react disgusted, a reality show about suicide ? I tell them no, its a show about living in a house together. Antagonist jumps in ''yean super controversial show very toxic,''. I say ''the show is really good, a must watch in my opinion''. Antagonist jumps in again ''how can you say a show is good that resulted in someones death''. I said ''you clearly have heard of the show but havent watched it, i have watched the entire thing and its top 5 of all time for me, these people sitting with us are mature adults and they can seperate in their minds the toxic from the wholesome'' Antagonist again ''there is something wrong with you if you like that shit''.

He is technically not wrong but made me upset regardless. The 2 people ended up passing on terrace house, they watched some kind of horror film instead. What do you think ?

RANT: Terrace House Tokyo 2019-2020

I know I am 5 years behind, BUT I NEED TO RANT SO BAD.

I will refresh your memory of some of the cast members in case you forgot: Ruka is the 21 y/o boy with aspirations of being a "spider-man" character. Peppe is the 26 y/o Italian man who illustrates comics.

I am so frustrated by the patronizing behavior of the cast and MCs towards Ruka. He is consistently being ridiculed and laughed at for everything he does. They seem to make fun of his efforts and never give him any guidance. It made me so so happy when Peppe arrived on the show because he finally taught Ruka how to make pasta properly and didn't patronize him in the process. The MCs are still making stupid spider-man jokes instead of acknowledging how much Ruka has achieved: he found a new job, started sketching, started cooking, and enrolled himself in english classes. Also most of the cast is so stale and aloof, I am glad Peppe brought some energy into the house.

Any thoughts on the situation?

This has been a real shitty past 12 hours for myself and I'm sure for a lot of you as well. With all that's going on, I haven't had much time to put my own thoughts together. The world has tragically lost a shining soul much too soon.

The subreddit is still in restricted mode for the foreseeable future as emotions are running high and there has been some brigading. Us mods ask everyone to please remember the human, be civil in your comments, and try to be excellent towards each other.

i've been rewatching all of terrace house and i was just wondering who other people's favorite members of all time was. mine probably goes like this:

  1. hansan (of course)

  2. guy (i loved watching every scene he was on, he was so chill and funny the whole time he was at the house)

  3. tsubasa (out of every girl that has ever been in terrace house she's my favorite. she was so pure and lovable and her hockey storyline makes me cry everytime)

  4. ruka (probably an unpopular opinion but i loved that guy's growth in his time in the house. when he did his english speech to announce he was leaving i bawled like a kid lol)
