Some of you already know me from the old two threads I created,
(Here, I complained about the temperatures. Unfortunately, the screenshot was deleted, but I had a temperature of 80 degrees (tested with the side panel). I have a Be Quiet Dark Base 901 case with 6 fans installed: 3 at the front on the mesh panel blowing in cold air, 1 at the rear, and 2 at the top blowing out hot air. This was with too little information)
(Here I asked if the old paste was applied correctly by ASUS after I had it replaced by a technician with a thermal pad (PTM7950). Ultimately, the paste was applied well, but it turned out that a very low-quality paste was used, as revealed today after a comparison.)
Now for the test:
Old video: here I tested without side panel with the old paste on it I had an average temperature of 76-77 degrees (2044RPM) automatic fan control. I only created the video because of ASUS support, good thing I didn't delete this and the others
Newest video: With the side panel and the PTM7950 thermal pad 70-71 degrees (1170 RPM). I thought I was dreaming when I saw these values
Old video: this also because of ASUS support. I tested the GPU with manual fan control set to 40% (1300RPM) with old thermal paste and without the side panel. Within minutes, I reached a temperature of 85-86 degrees, which is simply crazy
Old video: Old paste without side panel manual GPU fan control to 60% (RPM1900) 80 degrees
Old video: Old paste without side panel manual GPU fan control fixed at 80% (RPM2500) 74 degrees
All tests were carried out at a room temperature of 22 degrees (I live in Germany)
I don't know what to say about this. Skimping on thermal paste for such an expensive GPU is unacceptable, ASUS. Originally, I wanted to buy the Gigabyte 4090 Gaming OC for 1650 euros, but then I saw the 4090 Strix OC new for 1700 euros (1821 dollars) on eBay. Normally, it costs over 2000 euros (over 2143 dollars) here in Germany. I thought I couldn't go wrong with this, but I was very mistaken. I will think twice before buying anything from ASUS again. Their support is also terrible, and I must emphasize that the card is only 4 months old (but the cooling performance is damn good).
