So what’s the fan base’s general attitude toward the Chiefs now? So what’s the fan base’s general attitude toward the Chiefs now?
Question

Our fan base certainly doesn’t have the same attitude toward every other team equally (e.g. no one reasonable is going to claim we hate the Dolphins on the same level as the Cowboys), and AFC teams are generally spared of our most zealous wrath…until they become monstrously successful and had to walk over us to reach those heights (e.g. the Patriots, whom we were actively rooting against in 2007 despite it meaning that a division rival would win the Super Bowl).

That brings us to the Chiefs, who’ve now cemented themselves as the newest dynasty. On one hand, we still love Andy Reid, and the Kelce connection (plus Travis’ work with the EAF) means we at least don’t despise younger bro. Plus, many of us seemed to prefer them winning this year over the 49ers after all the whining the Niners did.

On the other hand, the Chiefs did pretty much what the Patriots did: walking over us to reach their dynasty. All the legal trouble some of their players have gotten into this off-season certainly hasn’t helped their image.

What would you say is our animosity level toward the Chiefs right now? If you want to rank it on a 1-10 scale, let’s say 1 is frolicking in a flower field together and 10 is the Cowboys.

[The Herd] Lane Johnson on the #Eagles collapse last year: “I think we had trouble making in-game adjustments. Some blitz packages we had a hard time, especially in that Tampa Bay game… The effort was never the question. It just felt like what we were doing collectively obviously wasn’t making a wh

Getting Excited for #26: Some Saquon Barkley Hype Getting Excited for #26: Some Saquon Barkley Hype

Happy Friday, Go Birds.

As we approach a little over a week out from camp just wanted to bring some good Vibes around our newest running back. Obviously we have to wait and see him perform on the field for us for full determinations, but figured it’d be cool to share some good things I’ve noticed/watched/looked at as we approach the 2024 season.

  1. He’s still ranked comfortably as a top 8-4 RB in the league across multiple NFL writing sources, fantasy communities etc. this is coming off a BAD YPC in a season, an ankle injury, and a near all-time terrible offense in NY. Most of these analysts are conservative about their rankings too. Not saying rankings matter all that much, but ideas that he’s “washed” or out of gas just feel wrongly placed.

2. His injury history, while not great, is taken out of context a lot: 2019 - Ankle sprain from a tackle from behind rollup (similar to the now banned hip drop tackle) 2020 - ACL tear, this one was bad but his surgery and recovery met all timelines. 2021 - This is the one many associate with “Post ACL Injury”, but he simply stepped on a Dallas Cowboy player’s foot and rolled his ankle weird, total freak thing and it ballooned . He had just come off a 100+ yd 2td win game where he was looking 80-90% back from injury btw. 2023 - Another really unfortunate ankle sprain. NYG closing out the AZ game, running it conservatively to kick a final FG. Barkley up the middle gets tackled by a diving Cardinals player who lands on/twists his ankle. So while it’s obviously frustrating as a fan of a player/team to see him injured this much, these are mostly unfortunate plays that could happen to any player in any game, not necessarily an injury prone player.

3. While his total yards, TDs, ypc were all relatively moderate in 2023, he still had some good/great RB metrics. From next gen stats rush metrics: Rush yards over expected: 93 total (10th in the league) Rush Yards over expected per carry: 0.39 (Tied 12th) This was with the 32nd ranked Oline, and 29th ranked offense in yards/game. For reference, loved Swift but: RYOE: -65, RYOE/Carry: -.29. #2 Oline, 8th offense in yards.

All this to say I am excited about what he can bring as a rusher, receiver, blocker, locker room presence, and off the field ++.

Edit: Adding #4

1 ranked Pass blocking back in 2022 (haven’t found ranking or straight stats for 2023). This actually stands as one of his most value areas of influence for the Eagles right out of the gate.

Public Practice Tips for First Timers? Public Practice Tips for First Timers?
Question

My son is a huge Eagles fan, and I’m surprising him with a trip to public practice for his twelfth birthday. We’re coming up from Virginia, and though we’ve been lucky enough to come to the Linc once for a special event (his little sis is a CHOP patient), we’ve never been to a game or even in the stands before. I was wondering if anyone had any practical tips for which parking lot or entrances would give us the best opportunity to get seats as close to the field as possible - if I can get the kid a chance to get some autographs he might literally die from happiness. I’ll get him there as early as humanly possible, but I’d love to have my bearings ahead of time!
