Regarding Dana

I've been rewatching Hellier for the third time, The Unbinding too, and I just wanted to say something that I've thought from the very beginning. I've been Wiccan for close to 30 years. I've been part of an all female group in the past, but solitary for around 15 years. Witches are never well portrayed ( in the UK at least) in any film, series or documentary. Until Hellier that is, and the masterpiece that is The Unbinding. I think Dana has been amazing. It's wonderful to see such a graceful and knowledgeable woman get everything she does absolutely correct and she has portrayed what we do so very well. I've tons of experience after all these years, but still, she's a true inspiration. I just wanted to say thank you. I hope that she sees this somehow and knows that many of us are extremely grateful ❤️

End of Wilding Episode - Genuine or Staged?

Rewatching S1, and at the end of Wilding, Charlie and Jeremy are having an ‘everything is great’ dialogue, which they immediately cuts to BoJo locking down the UK due to Covid.

Was this a genuine conversation, or did they record it after lockdown just to make a good ending to the episode?

I kind of think S1 had shades of staging to it a la Top Gear, but it’s got more real as the show has gone on.

Archewell joined International Rescue Committee (IRC) on World Refugee Day

https://archewell.org/news/world-refugee-day/

Today on World Refugee Day, The Archewell Foundation recognizes the resilience and strength of individuals who have been displaced from their homes due to conflict, persecution, or violence.

Committed to uplifting communities, The Archewell Foundation supports those resettling, addressing both immediate displacement needs and long-term care, particularly for women experiencing social isolation. Through The Welcome Project, these needs are cared for through social connection and access to vital resources.

This week, our team participated in a volunteer day to assemble personal care kits for refugee families in our local communities. These include essential items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and bathroom furnishings, and will be donated to families through our partners at International Rescue Committee (IRC). Since 1933, IRC has helped people affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover and rebuild their lives and works to welcome those settling in a new home.

As we continue to collaborate compassionately with families and partners, we envision a future where inclusive, interconnected communities thrive, united by our shared humanity.

saw this comment in a post 3 months ago and now i'm wondering what's up with this https://www.reddit.com/r/QuietOnSetDocumentary/comments/1bxhitq/comment/kydrctw/

It was said Brian had stacks of letters and photos -from- Gacy and this comment is making me wonder... were the letters even real? did he actually know him at all?

Why is there so much unfarmed land?

He said about half of the farm is not used to grow crops. But why? I had a look on google maps and most of it looks pretty arable to me. Yes, there's a bit of forest and brambles and what not, but it is nowhere near 50% of the area and the vast majority of it is still just fields. Is the ground just completely filled with rocks or something?

What's with the weird transitions in the show?

I just started watching and I really enjoy it. But really, wtf are these weird ass transitions to nothing?

It'll be a shot of a soccer game, followed by a fade to black, and then it returns to the SAME FUCKING SHOT? Like, the fade to black seems completely pointless yet it happens like 4-5 times an episode! And sometimes it cuts back and it gives you a 10 second recap of what you JUST watched??

8 B Dating after three days since we broke the story with her 9 picture. Uh, the Dursts are a very, very wealthy real estate family. This 10 is Ju- -- Julie - that's how I met Julie Baumgold. Bobby Durst - 11 R Oh, I see. 12 B -- and Julie were raised together. 13 R I see. 14 B You know, mother's best friends. In any case, uh, this is 15 what I'm calling to ask you. 16 R Right. 17 B 'Cause you're like the smartest person I know. Uhm, the 18 story is a crazy story. Uhm, but, basically, I want to know if I've covered 19 all the ends. I've been on the street myself interviewing people. 20 R Jesus. 21 B You know, I - I've been in charge of all the media. The 22 husband's near collapse. These are my two best friends in the world. 23 She's a 29-year old medical school *** student. Absolutely gorgeous. 24 She was going to Einstein. Disappeared without a trace nine days ago. 25 Okay. It's ten days today. 26 R Right. 27 B Off the streets of New York. They just bought a half a million 28 dollar penthouse. I mean, at first, Bobby- just to make it very brief, her

1 husband, at first, didn't want to notify the police, because he thought it 2 was a kidnap attempt. Because, about six months ago, New York 3 Magazine did a cover story on the Dursts. And, they estimated their 4 fortunate at a billion. Right? 5 R Oh, no. 6 B Okay. So, Bobby thought it was - 7 R The kiss of death. 8 B Yeah. But, it's not a kidnap, Albert. This is - 9 R No, it's not a kidnap, obviously. 10 B Right. Because, wouldn't they know in ten days? So, 11 anyway- 12 R Oh, in ten days? They'd know in ten minutes. 13 B Okay. The point is, is there are now 200 policemen combing 14 the streets. This is the second day of this. Uhm, the people who broke 15 the Craig Crimmons (phonetic) case - Murder at the Met- too - now, 16 just tell me if there's any avenue I haven't - you know, I'm not used to 17 crime detection. You know, I'm a feature writer. 18 R Yeah. 19 B If there's any avenue I haven't covered. Just follow my 20 thinking for a moment. Okay? 21 R Mmnh-mmnh. 22 B Okay. It's been - the police, you know, Seymour Durst is a 23 great contributor to Democratic, uh, politics. So, all the police are 24 working 24 hours around the clock. Her picture's been on the front page 25 of The Post for three days straight now. It's been flashed coast to coast 26 on The Today Show. There was an article in The Times. So, if anyone 27 saw her, that's that. Okay. Bobby, in addition, I've had him hire a 28 private detective, someone named Jerry Martin. In addition to that, today

1 he hired Nicolas Scopetti (phonetic), who used to be head of the Vice - 2 R Yeah, I know him. 3 B -- Squad. Okay. Is he good? 4 R Yeah. But, what you really need - 5 B What would you - 6 R -- here, you don't have. 7 B What do I need? Tell me. 8 R Well, but, how are you gonna get it? 9 B What? What? 10 R What you need is the Feds, man. 11 B Yeah. That's exactly what I thought. Okay. Here's my idea. 12 Uhm, you think-well, you know, he can - 13 R See if you could - if you could show - 14 B -- can - across state lines. 15 R -- it was a kidnapping, they would come right in. 16 B Yeah. 17 R But, uh- 18 B Yeah. Yeah. I've got to tell him that when he calls me 19 tonight. We've been - I tell you, Albert, it's the most bizarre story you've 20 ever heard. I'll tell you very briefly. 21 R ***. Yeah. 22 B I don't want to bore you to death. 23 R No, I'm not bored. I didn't - I didn't know about it. 24 B But, uh, I have to see Julie tomorrow. And, I happened to 25 think of you. We were talking about you. And, I said "I'm gonna call 26 Albert, 'cause maybe he'll think of something I haven't, you know." 27 R Yeah. 28 B Uhm, okay, they have a house in the country. Okay. Dig

1 this. And, the story gets more bizarre every day. Personally, between 2 you and me, Albert, and, never to be quoted. Okay? 3 R Yeah. 4 B I think she’s dead. 5 R I think so too. 6 B I think - yeah. I think she was kidnapped. She was a 7 beautiful girl. When she and I - you know, I have an innocent look. And, 8 I'm trying to get streetwise. But, I have been mugged. And, I have - I 9 don't know what - whether it's 'cause I'm from California - 10 R Geez. 11 B -- but, if I walk down a street, some guy will fucking grab me. 12 R Mmnh-mmnh. 13 B You know? 14 R Yeah. 15 B And, she had the same thing. And, we used to joke about it. 16 But, the thing was - 17 R Yeah. It's no joke, 18 B It's no joke. You know what I mean? It's like I don't even go 19 on the west side, anymore. Like, even when I came to, I was scared, -- 20 R Mmnh-mmnh. 21 B -- because I've gotten grabbed so many times. Like I can be 22 walking with four other girls - 23 R Mmnh-mmnh. I know. 24 B -- and, I'll be the one grabbed. And, she was beautiful. 25 R They’re thinking - 26 B Like, when she was 14 years old, she was Seventeen 27 Magazines Girl of the Year. You know, no make-up, absolutely 28 gorgeous. Right?

1 R So, nobody knows anything about it? 2 B Nothing. 3 R Well, where was she supposed to be? 4 B Okay. Here's the story. Okay. They went to the country. 5 spoke to her Saturday morning. They left for the country. Okay. 6 R Mmnh-mmnh. 7 B They have a house in South Salem. Now, this why the story 8 gets a little weird. Just bear with me for one moment. 9 R Okay. 10 B I don't want to be boring. I'm a little bit obsessed -- 11 R No, no, no. 12 B -- right away, 'cause she's my best friend, you know. 13 R Right. 14 B Uh, and, I want to talk about her in the present tense. 15 R Yeah. Right. 16 B By the way, I - I want to tell you that, when Bobby called me 17 on Wednesday, and said "She's missing," my heart fell. I'm a little bit 18 psychic, you know. I can sort of fortell - 19 R. Mmnh-mmnh. 20 B -- things. Not to be mystical or anything. And, I said to 21 myself, "She's been killed. She's murdered." 22 R Yes. 23 B I didn't tell him that. 'Cause I'm the only one holding him up. 24 He's put me in charge of all press. I've had The Post, the news - God, I 25 hate The New York Times. If I'm ever missing, Albert, break it in The 26 Post. Will you? 27 R Yeah. 28 B Will you do me a favor?

1 R Exactly. 2 B Thank you. I hate - they're the only God-damn - you know, 3 these reporters, they call. They want it to be made easy for them. You 4 know, they don't want to - they don't want to join the search. You know, 5 The Post is the only God-damned paper - 'cause it's a crime paper, you 6 know. 7 R Yeah. 8 B Those reporters are out on the de- -- beat. I give them a 9 lead, man, they're interviewing people. 10 R Mmnh-mmnh. 11 B They're great, you know. There's Charles Ackman (phonetic) 12 and Marcia Crane (phonetic), God bless them. They're not afraid of a 13 little hard work. Of course, they want to break the story, you know. 14 R Yeah. 15 B But, anyway, uhm, here's exactly what happened. She - 16 R So, they go to the country. 17 B Went to the country house in South Salem. Okay. Uhm, she 18 came back Sunday night, as she, usually, does. Okay? 19 R Mmnh-mmnh. 20 B Uhm, and, this is all confidential. Right? 21 R She drove? 22 B Is this confidential, Albert? 23 R Yeah. Sure. 24 B 'Cause my - my phone may be tapped, at this point. I don't 25 care. But, you know, don't - this is - 26 R She drove in an automobile by herself? 27 B No. I'm going to tell you the story. Okay. 28 R Mmnh-mmnh.

1 B Uhm, they- they had a -you know, they- they had a 2 pattern. She would take the train back. She went to med school early 3 Monday morning. She was a fourth-year student at Einstein. Okay? 4 R Mmnh-mmnh. Yeah. 5 B Okay. Uhm, he would come back the next day, about three 6 o'clock. And, then, he's vice president of the Durst empire. Okay. 7 R Right. 8 B And, then, go to work. Okay. He comes in at three o'clock. 9 He doesn't see Kathie. But, that's normal, 'cause she's in med school. 10 Okay. 11 R Right 12 B They were a couple. And, you promise me this is 13 confidential? 14 R Sure. 15 B Okay. Because like not for the press. You know, if my 16 phone's tapped - 17 R No. Right. 18 B -- uh, I mean, the police know everything, at this point. But, 19 this is between you and I - not for the press. Okay? 20 R Right. 21 B Because, at this point, I'm imposing a press black-out starting 22 tomorrow, just in case, God forbid, somebody does have her. You know, 23 they'll be scared to come forward. 24 R Mmnh-mmnh. 25 B Anyway, she came back Monday - okay. Came back 26 Sunday night. She was a little bit drunk. She drinks. Uhm, and, you 27 know, went to her - they have a - a penthouse on Riverside Drive - 37 28 Riverside Drive. Okay.

1 R Mmnh-mmnh. 2 B The doorman saw her go in at 11:40. She called Bobby to 3 say she's home safely. Okay. In Sunday night. Okay. Monday 4 morning, the last phone call she made, uh, from all sources - the last 5 time she was seen alive was noon Monday - which is ten days ago. 6 Monday morning, she called in to Einstein, said she didn't feel good and 7 she was going to work. Okay. Okay. Monday, uh, she didn't feel good. 8 She was staying home - excuse me. And, she was coming in Tuesday. 9 Now, she, definitely, would have showed up Tuesday. She would never 10 have missed two days, because she was making up a rotation, when she 11 had the flu. She was obsessed by graduating from medical school. And, 12 she was not doing that -- 13 R Yeah. 14 B -- well. Okay. Okay. So, Monday, at noon, the doorman at 15 37 Riverside Drive saw her leave the building -- 16 R Mmnh-mmnh. 17 B -- dressed, as usual in like jeans and a blouse, a down coat. 18 She dresses like I do. The only difference is she had diamond earrings 19 on. Okay. 20 R Mmnh-mmnh. 21 B Okay. So, she like looks wealthy, 'cause she's so pretty, you 22 know. Okay. That's the last anyone heard from her. Monday night, 23 Bobby- 24 R Do you think that's, literally, true that she had diamond 25 earrings? 26 B Oh, yeah. 27 R Ah, well, man, there's your answer right there. 28 B That's what Bobby says. But, I said that - I mean, she had

1 diamond stud earrings on, you know, that he had given her. And, he 2 always was telling her "Don't wear them." 3 R Geez. That's like really asking for it. 4 B But, there's something weird about this story. I can't - you 5 know, Albert, have you ever been on a story that doesn't - 6 R Yeah, of course. 7 B -- add up? There's something weird here. 8 R So, she walks out, uh, dressed normal. 9 B She walks out. That's it. You got the story. Okay. He 10 comes home Monday night. Right? Now, they had had - they had 11 reconciled. They had been divorced and re- -- you know - 12 R Yeah. 13 B -- blah, blah, blah, they were going to get divorced. And, they 14 got reconciled. Okay. So, sometimes, she would work all night at 15 medical school. So, she didn't come home every night. Do you know 16 what I mean? 17 R Yeah, all right. I'm hip. 18 B She would stay in the dorms. Or, if they had an argument, 19 she might go to a girlfriend's house. Okay. So, the thing is, is that, you 20 know, -- okay. She - he wakes up Tuesday morning, expecting her to be 21 there. But, she's not. But, that wasn't so weird, 'cause, maybe, she was 22 working all night at medical school, or maybe she went to a girlfriend's. 23 R Mmnh-mmnh. 24 B You know, okay. 25 R Mmnh-mmnh. 26 So, he doesn't get alarmed or anything. So, he goes to work. 27 Okay. Wednesday morning, he wakes up, and, she's not there. 28 R Mmnh-mmnh.

1 B Now, he becomes alarmed, because she's never stayed 2 away two days in a row. Also, like, you know, she did drink. But, she 3 was the sort of person that her body couldn't tolerate too much alcohol 4 and coke. 5 R Mmnh-mmnh. 6 B So, like, you know, she'd go on like a one-day really bad 7 thing. And, the next day, she'd be in bed with diarrhea. She's be really 8 contrite and be -- 9 R Yeah. 10 B Say it'll never happen again. It wasn't like Truman Capote, 11 who disappears for five days, you know. 12 R Mmnh-mmnh. 13 B So, anyway, Tuesday -- I mean, Wednesday morning, he 14 wakes up. Now, she's, now-we didn't know, at the time. But, she's, 15 now, been disappeared for 48 hours. But, he has no idea. He thinks it's 16 24, you know. 17 R Mmnh-mmnh. 18 B He wakes up Wednesday morning. And, she's not there. So, 19 Wednesday, he starts calling friends around "Have you seen Kath?" You 20 know, and, she didn't have that many - you know, one of the reasons I - 21 I was like - she's from this dumb Irish Catholic family, like poor. You 22 know, like all the sisters - 23 R Mmnh-mmnh. 24 B -- are married to firemen. You know, I'm one of like the only 25 smart friend. She had about five friends. I was one of them. Okay. 26 "Anybody heard from Kath?" So, I said "No." And, immediately, Albert, 27 when he called me, I had the most horrible feeling. I like saw her dead. 28 R Mmnh-mmnh.

1 B And, I said "No. Why?" And, he said "Well - well, I don't 2 know." He said, uhm, "She's been gone 48 hours." And, I said "What?" 3 said, "Bobby, report it to the police." And, he said, "Well, I told - you 4 know, it's this huge Durst empire. And he said "Well, I told my father." 5 The Dursts are like - you know, they hate any publicity, 'cause they're 6 like slum lords. 7 R Yeah. Geez. 8 B You know, so, it's like his father says - the father - who has 9 like, you know, literally, like no blood. Like ice in his brain. 10 R Yeah. 11 B Says, uhm, you know, "Oh." And, of course, the father, of 12 course, didn't make the fortune. In typical style, it was the grandfather. 13 So, the father - 14 R Interesting. 15 B -- is into wealth maintenance, Albert. Okay. 16 R Yeah. 17 B So, he says "Oh, she's a runaway wife." Well, dig this. First 18 of all, Kathie's not a calculating Jewish girl who would know how to run 19 away. Number two, she had no lovers. I knew her intimately. Number 20 three, he had cut off all her charge cards during - before when they were 21 divorce - going to get a divorce, before the reconciliation. Number four, 22 there was no activity on her checking account. She could not go 23 anywhere, you know. 24 R Nah, she didn't run away. 25 B Yeah. So, I said "Bobby, she didn't run away." I said "Call 26 the police." So, he calls the police. Okay. The - it's reported officially 27 Thursday. 28 R Mmnh-mmnh.

1 B A missing person. Or Wednesday, I think. Uhm, at first, like 2 the police wouldn't even take it seriously. Runaway wife. Then, like, you 3 know, everybody's like yelling at - screaming - the few people that knew 4 her well, it's not a runaway wife. Believe us. Believe us. 5 R Mmnh-mmnh. 6 B You know, then, Seymour - 'cause he's contributed so much 7 -- got the police in action. You know, then, Friday, I say "Bob, you got to 8 get a private investigator." I've heard of them. But, I -you know, I gave 9 him like three names. He got one. Okay. Then, uhm, Saturday, 10 Sunday, no action. Now, listen to this. This is what's really weird. Okay. 11 Sunday night - now, she's, now, been missing six days. No contact. If 12 she was gonna call anybody, -- say she was a runaway wife, she would 13 call me. You know what I mean? 14 R Yeah. Uh - 15 B 'Cause I was like her role model. She's not, Albert. Trust 16 me. 17 R Nah, that's crazy. 18 B Now, people are starting to take him seriously. You know 19 what I mean? He's like - 20 R Mmnh-mmnh. 21 B -- literally, hysterical. Okay. So, they decide she's been - 22 the police - 200 police search the penthouse of - searched Riverside 23 Drive building - 24 R Mmnh-mmnh. 25 B -- because there's a non-eviction po- -- policy in that building. 26 And, they thought maybe - because, at first, no one had - I mean, they 27 don't even interview. These priests are driving me nuts. You know, it's 28 like they assumed that she had never left Sunday night, that she had

1 come into the building and never left. So, they do this entire search of 37 2 Riverside Drive building, she - when she had left, the next day. If they'd 3 only ask the doorman. You know what I mean? But, anyway, you know, 4 God bless- 5 R They'll find her body in the river, man. 6 B You're right. 7 R Mmnh-mmnh. That's what***. 8 B Is there anything else we can do? 9 R It wasn't a kidnap. It wasn't anything. 10 B You're right, Albert. Aren't you? 11 R A vulnerable-looking broad with, uh, obviously, authentic - 12 B Diamond earrings. 13 R --earrings. 14 B Yeah. 15 R They - they snatch her off the street. They take her 16 somewhere. Meanwhile, they rob her. 17 B Let me ask you something. Uh, Albert, let me just ask you 18 one thing. 19 R But, something went wrong, and, she had - she's fought with 20 them. She did something she shouldn't have done, or they- they gang 21 raped her. And, then, they -- they figured - 22 B Yeah. 23 R --this is it. 24 B Yeah. 25 R So, then, they took her up somewhere and tossed her in the 26 river. And, uh, the body will be found coming to the surface, uh, you 27 know, hideously bloated with gas, blah, blah, blah. That'll be the 28 punchline.

1 B Okay. Let me ask you something. The police - this is 2 confidential. Right? 3 R Mmnh-mmnh. 4 B You promise? 5 R Sure. 6 B Okay. Kathie did coke. You know, and, she wrote her own 7 scripts. Okay. The police think - they found her coke dealer. And, they 8 have him staked out. Now, the coke dealer, I don't know him. But, 9 Bobby does. He's like a - you know, a upper middle-class guy, who like 10 - you know, one of these guys that like does coke, and goes to Studio 11 54, big thing. He's not like a sleazy underworld. 12 R Mmnh-mmnh. 13 B Do you know what I mean? 14 R Yeah. He's a society coke dealer. 15 B They have the i- -- it's not, is it? No. 16 R Nah. 17 B No. You're right. You're absolutely right. Is it - okay. Get 18 the Feds involved. How do I do that? I tell Bobby to scream ***? 19 R The last thing in the world anybody in drugs does is hit the 20 customer. You know what I mean? 21 B No, no, no. Not - not that he killed her. 22 R No. 23 B But, the - the cops thought that maybe she died of an 24 overdose and he stuffed the body somewhere. But, no. 25 R Nah. 26 B No. No. No. 27 Whoever does the cocaine, you'd have to have a pound. 28 B Okay. What- tell me about the -

1 R See, the cops don't understand drugs. 2 B Let me ask you something, Albert. How long does it take for, 3 usually - see, I've only done San Francisco crime cases. How long does 4 it take for a dead body - how fast does bad news travel in this city? How 5 long can a dead body, in the river, or in Riverside Park, or something, 6 remain hidden? 7 R Oh, it's impossible, man. This is a city with millions - 8 B Yeah. 9 R -- of people. And, they're all very curious, and, they're 10 looking everywhere. And, I - it's like a search is going on without a 11 search being made, in effect. 12 B Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, what? You figure three weeks? 13 R So, it would have to be - if the body were anywhere where it 14 made any sense to put a body, they would have found it already. So - 15 B Yeah. 16 R -- so, it must have been a river thing. This is typical in New 17 York. 18 B Yeah. 19 R There's two ways you can throw a body in the river. You can 20 just throw it in the river - which - 21 B With cement over-yeah. 22 R -- which it floats. And, uh, who knows what. Or else you can 23 put something on it to weight it. 24 B Yeah. 25 R Then, uh, you may never discover, 'cause it drifts so far. 26 Uhm, but, an amazing proportion are discovered, eventually, 27 B They are? 28 R Yes, for some weird reason, the tides or something. I don't

1 know what. They - they always drift back in. 2 B Now, the only other thing is that - 3 R But, I really don't - you know, that's, definitely- I mean, 4 there's no question there's no kidnap. There's no simple - 5 B No. 6 R -- search thing. There's no - 7 B You're right, aren't you? 8 R Nah, this is all, you know. 9 B The police guard - they have a 24-hour guard at the Durst 10 Offices. I mean, there are - there are -- 11 R Yeah. 12 B -- 200 people assigned to this case. But, I think - 13 R A lot of paranoia. But, it's bull-shit. 14 B -- it really - yeah, I think you're absolutely right. 15 R No. It's - it's a simple like, uh, grab - 16 B Grab kill. 17 R -- rob - rob, rape, kill, dump. 18 B There's one weird thing. Just let me tell me you one thing. 19 It's just a bizarre scenario. But, on Sunday night, they - now, this is the 20 following Sunday. She - she's missing Monday. 21 R Yeah. 22 B It's ten days. Dig? Okay. Just bear with me. 'Cause you're 23 really smart. You know what I mean? And, maybe you'll think of 24 something I haven't. Uhm, the following Sunday, she's, now, been 25 missing six days. Okay. 26 R Yeah. 27 B Bobby's in the city. The house in Westchester is broken into. 28 Okay. Now, I understand houses in Westchester are hit all the time. So,

1 it's not so unusual. It could have been a teenager, to blah, you know. 2 R Mmnh-mmnh. 3 B This is what's bizarre. The window is broken. And, the only 4 - nothing is taken. But, it appears that someone broke the window and 5 either used or attempted to use the phone. 6 R Mmnh. 7 B Okay? Now, of course, the police are with the bloodhounds. 8 You can imagine. But, what if- I mean, would it - uh, I think you're right. 9 I think she's dead. But, the only other scenario, I could think of, is that - I 10 mean, its, definitely, not a kidnap. It's not a runaway wife. It's not drugs. 11 There's nothing else. You know what I mean? But, if she, somehow, 12 she was sick. And, then, she decided she'd go back up to the country. 13 Bobby had the car. So, she went back up to the country Monday 14 afternoon. But, you know, he had already left for the city. So, she 15 missed him. So, she - somebody - she met somebody on a train, or 16 something like that, and, said "Give me a ride home," you know. Or they 17 said to her. And, then, it was someone in that area, and, she was being 18 held somewhere in that area near the house. And, she made a break for 19 it, tried to use the phone and was recaptured. But, it's so far out, I can't 20 believe it's true. 21 R Nah, too many - too many - 22 B No. She's dead, right? I'm saving my tears 'til it's official. 23 R It's very unlikely -- 24 B But, you think so? Okay. The only other thing I could do, 25 right - we've got police. We've got reporters. You know, it's a manhunt. 26 The only other thing is the Feds? 27 R You need -you need, uh, the best, uh - 28 B And, how do you get them? It has to be interstate lines, is

1 That’s it? 2 R Yeah. If you could show anything that, uh, suggest a kidnap, 3 that's a Federal rap. And, they're obliged to go into that. 4 B Yeah. 5 R But, if the guy has political influence, that's the way he does 6 it. 7 B Yeah. 8 R You know, -- 9 B Exactly. 10 R -- he just - he just calls his, uh, Washington connection, or 11 even in New York here, uh, there's some connection. 12 B Yeah. I'm gonna tell Bobby's father, as soon as get off the 13 phone with you. 14 R And, the New York Bureau of the FBI is very big, very active. 15 B Right. 16 R And, uh, let them take a little preliminary look-see, you know. 17 I mean, they are - 18 B Yeah. 19 R -- so much better than the local police. There's no 20 comparison. 21 Really? 22 R It isn't that they're better. Uh, 'cause, actually, when you 23 meet them man-from-man, they're ass-holes. But, they just have - 24 B Albert? 25 R -- such tremendous information that no local police have. 26 mean, they have these super computers. 27 B That's a very good idea. 28 R They can breathe, man. And, more shit falls on their head

1 than you would get in a lifetime of reporting. 2 B Yeah. It's a very, very good - I'm going to do that. 3 R Someday, you know, when we're not on the telephone, I'll tell 4 you about their computer system. 5 B All right. Fine. Well, I know - 6 R It's pretty heavy. 7 B -- I'm in it. There's a file on me. Hey, -- 8 R Yeah. 9 B -- I got my file when I did the book on my dad. 10 R Yeah, well, its pretty wild. 11 B Uhm - 12 R So, that's really the only thing that you haven't done, is you 13 haven’t- 14 B The FBI. That’s it. 15 R --got- 16 B Right? 17 R That’s – yeah. 18 B And, then, wait. Yeah, I've gone - I've gone door to door. 19 can't - it's so, -- uh, let me just ask you one other quick question. 20 R Oh, not a note or a call, you see. 21 B It's not kidnap, Albert. 22 R There's no kidnap. 23 B No. Let me just ask you one other thing. 'Cause you've lived 24 here a long time. Uhm, is it usual, I mean, it- it's conceivable that she 25 was snatched in broad daylight from the west side. 26 R Yeah. 27 B And, then, we'll never find anyone who saw it. 28 R It happens every day.

1 B And, no one ever sees it? 2 R Yeah, somebody saw it. But, I mean, it didn't ring a bell. 3 B But, nobody will ever come forward. I mean, it - it could 4 happen. Right? 5 R We have a friend, just, uh, two weeks ago was walking in the 6 heart of chic Soho. And, that was in the early- 7 B Okay. 8 (Track "RBML_Agoldman_6910494_PRES015024_01_01_s.mp3" 9 ended.) 10 (Track "RBML_Agoldman_6910494_PRES015024_01_02_s.mp3" 11 begun.) 12 B And, there was an Andy Kaufman skit on your book. You did 13 - 14 R Yeah, someone told me about that. 15 B Okay. Okay. So, I'm gonna - I didn't see that. But, that's 16 what it keys off. So, -- but, I will read you the two paragraphs. I thought 17 "That is how I feel exactly." Okay. Uhm, all right. It's James Wilcot, who 18 is an excellent writer. He's the only one I buy The Voice from. 19 R Yeah, I know who he is. 20 B And, ever since they gave my book good - book a good 21 review, I buy them every week. Anyway, but, so, it's under Medium Cool. 22 You know, okay. So, by James Wilcot. Okay. It's the second lead item. 23 Uhm, in Big Blackhead All Shook Up. 24 R Mmnh-mmnh. 25 B Okay. Here it goes. "The campaign against Albert Goldman, 26 in his biography of Elvis, is getting a little bit out of bounds." And, amen. 27 That's what I put in. Okay. But, now, the rest is his. Okay. "In the 28 January 30th edition of Saturday Night Live, guest host Andy Kaufman did

1 his adept lip-curling impression of Elvis, rotating his hips to a song from, I 2 believe, King Creole. After his number, Kaufman's Elvis selected a pair 3 of nubiles from the front row. They were obvious plants, and, had them 4 brought back to his dressing room. "I want to see you two girls wrestle," 5 said Elvis in a slightly drugged drawl. "I want you to take your clothes off 6 and wrestle. Everything except your panties." As the giggling girls 7 drifted off camera, Kaufman stepped out of character, pulling off his black 8 wig and telling the audience, "That was a scene out of Albert Goldman's 9 book on Elvis. I grew up on Elvis. And, I just want to say that I 10 disapprove of that book. And, I disapprove of what I've just done." End 11 of sketch. 12 Now, next paragraph. "Since Andy Kaufman had made a 13 name for himself, partly by grappling with women, including Playboy 14 playmates, it's a trifle odd that he would use nubile wresting as the syn- 15 -- synedoche. What is that, Albert? Synedoche -- s-y-n-e-d-o-c-h-e. 16 R Oh, synedoche. 17 B I thank you. I bow to you. Okay. The book is so - okay. For 18 everything vile and callous in Goldman's book. Female wrestling is a 19 rather mild misdemeanor. After all, indeed it might liven up afternoons at 20 the Village Voice as employees could be encouraged to strip down to 21 their underalls and toss each other about. Pass the baby oil, Drusilla 22 (phonetic), I want to go into the ring with that extra special sheen." 23 In any case, Andy Kaufman's sham attack of pious 24 indignation indicates how ticked-off people are by Goldman's book. To 25 many people, Elvis Presley is a genius, a sex avatar, the supreme 26 significier, the dragonslayer of puritanism, the embodiment of Democratic 27 hope, a thorned martyr of the highest spire of pop culture, a voice 28 resignating from the soil into the crowd.

1 Rock critics - this is a great sentence - particularly, resent 2 Goldman's book, not only for it's lapses in snobbery, but, because 3 Goldman doesn't belong to the ruling rock elite. His writing about Elvis is 4 perceived as an act of usurpation. "Elvis belongs to us," you could hear 5 them almost shouting. Now, this is the sentence in parentheses. (There 6 may, also, be a dose of envy involved, since Albert Goldman is a better 7 writer than most of all of all of the rock critics currently chained to their 8 machine guns." 9 R (Laughing heard.) 10 B But, there are ways of criticizing Goldman without depicting 11 him as a cultural Herod, lapping off the heads of innocents or a satanic 12 meaning befound - meaning befouling Andy Kaufman's boyhood dream. 13 Why whip up needless hysteria? Elvis Presley's career isn't the axis on 14 which the world spins. Isn't that great? 15 R You're too much. 16 B I mean, really, I loved- 17 R What a great guy. 18 B I said “Right on, Albert.” 19 R Mmnh. 20 B Anyway, Albert, thank you for your help. I adore you. 21 R All right. Listen, I'm very sorry about what - 22 B And, I hope - I hope your eyes are okay. And, I hope that 23 R Yeah, it's fine, hon. 24 B -- everything's - thank you very much. Okay. 25 R All right. Call me about anything I can help you with. 26 B I will, Albert. Okay. 27 R You know, I'm always at your disposal. 28 B Thank you, Albert. I love you. Bye-bye.

1 R All right, sweetheart. Bye-bye. 2 (Track "RBML_Agoldman_6910494_PRES015024_01_02_s.mp3" 3 ended.) 4 -oo0oo-
