Like most things that were cheap, they're now expensive.
Once it used to be oysters and seafood was the poor mans meal. When I was growing up it was Fish and Chips were the cheap option, or Burger and chips/fries.
Now these are pretty expensive, so what's the new 'Poor mans meal'?

For me, even though I absolutely accept that there is no conspiracy behind it and it is purely two separate events that occurred, it just makes my skin prickle and my blood feel fizzy whenever I hear it again.
When 21 year old Elisa Lam went missing from the infamous Cecil Hotel in LA, her body was found almost 3 weeks later in the water tank on the roof with no apparent reason as to why, and was later concluded as an accidental drowning. This captured so many people’s interests when the cctv of her was released and it felt like half the world were trying to solve it at the time, so it wasn’t something that was just a local story it was majorly covered in the news and online
Just days after her body was discovered, almost the entire population of the homeless living on Skid Row (where the hotel is) had a tuberculosis outbreak and a mass government testing happened to try and stop the disease from spreading further. The test they used to detect this was called LAM-ELISA. Created in 1971 years before she ever existed!
People speculated that maybe she had TB and it got into the water supply at the hotel where the residents and homeless had access to it; but tests on her body during autopsy determined that she did not in fact have TB.
I just know it’s nothing more than a coincidence but I think it’s definitely one of the best ones I have heard that absolutely has no explanation and to this day makes me think WHY and HOW.
