I am so glad that Katya immediately rejected this and set the record straight that it is indeed very real and very painful.
I get that it was stated as a joke but the stigma around this disease is so complicated. It’s just not helpful.
Imagine everyone joked about how people with real diagnosable chronic illness are over exaggerating or faking.
Yvie Oddly has EDS, which is hard to diagnose and has come to be known as a “TikTok diagnosis trend” … is she faking it?
Trixie has inflammatory arthritis, which isn’t always diagnosed with cut and dry bloodwork. Is she faking it?
Willow Pill has cystinosis, can’t imagine anyone ever claiming that is a fake.
Idk I’m just fucking disappointed.

To clarify, I do not expect queens to be unproblematic and well versed in every sensitive subject they choose to talk about. If she'd worked her commentary into a joke that was actually funny, or brought someone who has fibro in on the joke, it'd be one thing. But she didn't. She brought it up in an unhelpful fashion that even Katya seemed put off by.
Judging by the hundreds of comments and upvotes on this post, I was not alone in being put off by this.
I live with fibro, RA, chronic migraine, and a host of other physically painful issues that are heavily stigmatized. I have come to expect this sort of thing from a lot of people, even my own doctors.
I had a horrible day yesterday. I'd just seen my doctor and had been preparing for an invasive procedure. I have medical PTSD so I have been doing EMDR therapy to help me prepare for it and it is utterly exhausting.
I finally put my kid to bed and was relaxing on the couch when I saw the new episode was up. I was so excited to listen in and laugh and relax with my favorite queens. And I couldn't.
Just because Fena's POV is pervasive, doesn't mean we shouldn't challenge it. Just because it comes from a drag queen doesn't mean it's not fucked up.

I'm doing a rewatch and I'm on Katie and Schwartz's wedding season, and I just had a revelation. Tom treated Jo just like he treated Katie. Breadcrumbing, the negging, the noncommitment. I understand both subs LOVE Katie but can we admit that that relationship was borderline abusive if not straight up abusive? The ring on a string, pouring a drink over her head, telling her he hates the sound of her voice, looking at her with disgust and saying "That's why we never have sex!" If you've ever read about attachment theory you can immediately spot their anxious/avoidant dynamic.
Anyway, I was thinking about Tom's patterns - sneaking around having an affair with Arianna while he was with Kristen, and then doing the exact same thing with Rachel. In the past Schwartz dangled a ring on a string and lost the wedding certificate, and now he's telling Jo he'll marry her in 8 years! Patterns are pattering. Am I the only one who notices this? I hate when I read this sub and people gush over how in love Katie and Tom were, and even saying he still loves her and they hope they get back together. He HATES her! Can't ya'll see that? Even Katie's mom was fawning all over Tom last season. Ma'am you watched him throw a drink in your daughter's face! If anyone should go no contact it's Katie..

I feel like in other seasons, I’ve seen chef’s be woken up to make late night snacks for guests. They were never particularly happy to do it obviously, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone blatantly say no like Jono did. I thought he was being super dramatic about it, complaining he needs his sleep (everyone does), yet he was awake “anxious” all night after. Also stating that he “had to stand up for himself” was such a stretch; all she asked was for him to do his job lol. He dropped the ball on prepping snacks before he went to bed, so in my opinion he should’ve just ate his pride and gotten up. It was literally on their preference sheet. And of course Sandy had his back (she never sides with the stews) and made Ellie look incompetent. The whole situation pissed me off lol. Is that just me? Did anyone else feel that way or do you agree that he shouldn’t have gotten up? She was being a little dramatic as well but I’m sure she was stressed.
